41. Unmasking Intentions

Morning came with the usual crispness in the air, but for Elijah, it felt heavy, like the weight of the world had been dropped onto his shoulders. He was growing tired of the constant threats aimed at Sophia.

Last night’s message echoed in his mind, each word twisting his gut into knots.

He stood by the window of Arthur Palace, watching as Sophia got into the car to head for work.
