Elijah stood under the dim glow of the streetlight, his gaze fixed on the approaching figure.

Shrouded in a dark coat, Mary Shaw moved toward him with hesitant steps. Her eyes darted around the quiet, empty street, and Elijah could see the tension in her every movement.
