Mildred was not ready to listen to anyone regarding her thoughts about Scott. Recent events only strengthened her beliefs that something wasn't right about him and the more she thought about it, the more she began to suspect that perhaps it was him who leaked the information about the new product to the Carters but that was pretty far fetched.
