CHAPTER 26On another side of town, three men tossed out luggage after luggage from a huge mansion, and a woman tried to stop them to no avail. Her eyes were red and puffy, evidence of long hours of crying. Her hair was dishevelled, her make up smeared. She held on to one of the boxes as one of the men dragged it outside, the man didn’t bulge, he dragged her along with it.Her delicate feet scraped along the hard concrete floor and it mercilessly lacerated her skin, blood spilled out of her wounds and smeared the ground, but the pain she felt from it could not compare to the one that wrecked her heart. One singular action cost her everything. She had lost it all. Her family, her status, her prestige, her identity. Once a princess, now condemned to forever be a pauper. That mansion belonged to the Kent family and the woman, Bianca Kent.“Grandpa please, have mercy. There’s no way I could have known,” Bianca begged. She crawled and clutched Barry’s feet as tears cascaded down her face.“
CHAPTER 27While Jack and Cole were having their tête-à-tête, Tiger and his men had surrounded his Villa. Lewis had pulled some strings to find out where Jack was staying currently, but he hadn’t found out anything about Jack’s family just yet.One of the men cut out the primary source of power from the control room, some of them barred all the exits except one, which was the front door. While the rest threw canisters after canisters of teargas through the windows to force the inhabitants of the house outside. The maids were screaming from the burn and choke of the gas, scampering to find their way outside. Some of Tiger’s men who wore face masks to protect themselves made their way into the Villa, hauling the helpless maids outside, to use as collateral against Jack in case he thought of a way to escape.More screams filled Jack and Cole’s ears as they quickly took off their shirts and used them as protective covers from the deadly fumes of the gas, making their way outside.“Your mai
CHAPTER 28Jack bravely walked up to Tiger, looking him dead in the eye and shaking his head like someone who had pity on Tiger.“I was going to spare Lily and little Carmen but now, your whole family breathes their last today, even their little puppy, Bruno,” Jack said venomously. After the last incident at his office, Jack used his resources to look into Tiger and he found out that the man had a secret family. CHAPTER 29“At this rate, we’re going to lose everything in no time grandpa, what do we do?” Gerald Kent questioned as four men of the Kent family sat at the table.Their business had lost two more of their prominent customers following the announcement from the Millers. These two companies were loyal to the Miller family and did not want to be on their bad side by doing business with the ostracised Kent Group.“I assume you have a brain in that thick skull of yours. Why don’t you brainstorm some freaking ideas or is it only good for flirting with women?” Barry shot a harsh response back at Gerald.“Sorry Grandpa.”“Sorry for yourself,” Barry replied coldly.“This is all Jack’s fault. Ever since he left this family, it’s like he placed a curse on us,” Bruce Kent said.“You’re right Uncle. First, he mysteriously became acquainted with some top director at Blackbolt and we almost lost our partners because of him. Heck! We even had to help his fucking business prosper while ours suffered.
CHAPTER 30Faraway from Coral city, on the rocky ice plains of Iceland where the temperature had dropped significantly below zero degrees. A tall man was shirtless, wearing only right denim pants and a leather boot.He had broad shoulders, well toned abs and a firm chest that had a deep blade scar across it. The ridges and contours of his back were covered with a large tattoo of an eagle, spreading its wing and about to take off.It was why they called him The Eagle. The Eagle hummed a song to himself as he sharpened axes. Exactly twelve in number, because about 10 metres from him, he had twelve men, each tied to a stake. The men were all dressed in black robes, their mouths were gagged and they had hoods covering their faces. They were visibly shaken. Every sound produced from sharp metal grazing hard rock made them whimper, fear seeping out of their pores as they pondered who was going to be the first to die.“Who’s first?” The Eagle asked, skillfully swinging the axe in his hand in
CHAPTER 31“How long will you be gone for Chief?” Cole asked as he escorted Jack into the private jet. Mildred had returned after learning about the atttack on Jack’s Villa and his parents inisited he returned home for a while. It has been long since they saw him and even Jack knew the reunion was long over due.Everything seemed well for now at least in Coral city. He heavily compensated the family of the driver and maid who were killed by Tiger and he had moved into his new mansion.“One or two weeks. Keep an eye on everything for me. I’ll be in touch always,” Jack replied.“Are you sure it’s okay to go without security? I don’t know what I’m supposed to keep an eye on here. I’m your bodyguard, my job is to keep an eye on you,” Cole replied.“I’m going home Cole, there’s no need. Take this time to brush up on those administrative skills. I may need you to do more important stuff plus when I get back, I’m hiring a security team. It’s imperative at this point.”Cole wanted to protest
Chapter 32“You look so skinny. Have you not been eating?” Alice circled her hand around Jack's waist as they headed inside.Jack chuckled. He looked bulkier than when he first left home. He wondered what his mother was going on about. Between the two of them, she looked like the one who wasn’t eating but Jack understood that her emaciation wasn’t borne out of malnutrition.“Well I’m back home now mother. You can fatten me up with your delicious cooking like a cow. Just don’t lead me to the slaughter,” He smiled broadly at her and everyone laughed.“I had the chefs - no I personally made your favourite delicacies but I had help from the chefs. Come, let’s eat. You must be very hungry from your trip,” Alice replied and the family headed to the dining table. The family shared stories as they enjoyed dinner together as a family for the first time in a long time. Jack recounted the horrors he had to go through after leaving home. From living in his car, to having to sell it to pay for medi
CHAPTER 33Two weeks went by in a flash and Jack was ready to return back to Coral City. Since Coral city was a fast growing city with a fast rising economy compared to what it was years ago, Jack decided to move the headquarters from Milton to Coral City.He appointed Mildred as CEO in his stead while he would take on the role of chairman, pulling the strings from behind the scene. He believed that since Mildred was a familiar face to their investors, shareholders and company executives, the handover of leadership from their father to her would receive a warmer reception than if it was him.He also just didn’t want to have the title, he wanted to earn it by doubling and eventually tripling the amount of money the company currently had under its control and he had a plan in mind to do that. When Jack and Mildred landed at the airport in Coral city, Cole was already waiting to pick them up with Jack’s new security team.Three specially customised bulletproof G-wagons were in the airport
