Chapter 9: Figured Out

CHAPTER 9

Bianca ignored Jack and ran towards Trent’s car which was already making a turn to leave the compound and take.

“You can’t do that Trent. No you can’t do that to me,” Bianca complained frantically and bitterly.

“Why not?” Trent rolled down his window. “I already slept with you which was my major aim before and promising to marry you was just a trick to get you in my bed. Your crazy ex-husband just gave me the perfect excuse to call it off.” And with that his car zoomed off.

Bianca felt like she couldn’t breathe. Just like she used and betrayed Jack, she had been used and betrayed. She crashed to her knees and started to cry.

Jack couldn’t believe anything he had just heard of make any sense of it. He only felt a tugging pain in his heart. Bianca had cheated on him in the hopes of marrying Trent?

Jack closed his eyes and two teardrops fell from each of his eyes from the pain he felt but how would she have married Trent when they were still married? It was then it dawned on Jack. She was going to divorce him.

“Why would you do this to me Bianca? You know how much I love you!” Jack said, clenching his fists in anger.

“I don’t love you! I hate you!” Bianca yelled at Jack. “This is all your fault!”

“What?” Jack was stunned. “If anybody should be angry here, it should be me. You cheated on me Bianca. You cheated on your husband. Do you know how shameless that is?”

“What, are you mad? I didn’t cheat on you! We are divorced! Divorced!” Bianca yelled again. She stood on her feet and stormed into the house.

Jack felt like his head was spinning from the confusion and pain Bainca’s words and actions were bringing him.

‘When did we get divorced?’ Jack asked himself in his mind.

He took a deep breath and ran his hand through his hair before looking around him. Everything was a mess. There was even blood on the floor. Charlotte was still held up inside the security post and he didn’t even know when Marcus left.

“Luke, take the boys back inside and then clean up this mess.”

“Yes sir!” Luke answered immediately and did as he was told.

“I always knew you were an incompetent bastard but I never took you for a complete fool. Do you know what you have just done? You have just signed your death warrant,” Charlotte hissed and pushed past Jack when Luke took the dogs inside.

Jack was just entering the living room when Bianca stormed down the stairs from her bedroom and threw some papers on him. “There, those are your copies.”

Jack looked at her calculatingly before looking at the papers on the floor. He picked them up and his eyes widened as he stared at them in shock and disbelief.

Divorce papers? When did he sign it? Jack could clearly see his signature on the papers. He knew it wasn’t forged. His signature was the complex type that would be very difficult to forge.

“What is this Bianca?” Jack asked.

“What does it look like?” It was Bruce Kent, Bianca’s father who answered from upstairs as he was coming down. He was asleep before but his wife had filled him in on everything that happened earlier.

Jack looked at the papers again, still finding it hard to believe that he signed a divorce agreement that he couldn’t remember, but it was when Jack saw the speck of dried blood on one of the papers that realization hit him.

The police station. His bail papers. He remembered signing a lot of papers that he couldn’t see properly then and he was bleeding at the time.

Jack chuckled lightly and he started laughing. He looked at the papers in his hands again and he laughed even harder, tears even glistened his eyes and he held his stomach.

Bianca, her father and her mother all thought he was probably going mad because of the shocking discovery.

“It was you. You set me up. You put the drugs in my car, didn’t you?”

Jack finally realized the truth. It must have been Bianca who put the drugs in pocket and in his car. No wonder she was acting extra nice to him that day. What a snake? Jack’s admiration and love for her took a deep dive when he realized what she had done.

Bianca was about to reply when Bruce put his hands up to stop her. If Bianca admitted to setting Jack up, Jack could sue them through legal means and if he proved that he signed under duress, the divorce would be annulled. Bruce couldn’t risk it.

“Nobody set you up. You are a criminal, a drug dealer. Now get out of my face and never come back here again!” Bruce replied vehemently.

Jack scoffed. “Really?”

“Your family is nothing to me anymore. I always knew you were a despicable family and I endured your mess because I loved your daughter but I never knew you could stoop so low. You all disgust me.”

From the way Jack spoke, Bruce reasoned that something had changed in Jack’s demeanor, he didn’t look as humble as he used to and he sounded very serious.

Perhaps his experience in the police station had changed something in him. He also noticed how Jack was wearing new and seemingly expensive designer clothes but Bruce did not want to admit that they were responsible for what happened to him.

“Fine,” Charlotte replied out of nowhere. “Now get out. Get out, you disgusting pig!”

“Look at me and look at you, who is fat like a pig?” Jack scoffed and mocked Charlotte who was a chubby woman.

“Just leave Jack, nobody wants you here. You have wasted enough years of my life and now you have cost me my marriage to a rich man that can actually take care of me and make my life better,” Bianca replied in contempt.

Just then, Jack felt his phone beep and Siri, the voice assistant on his phone, read the text he just received out loud. [ An Inward Remittance amounting to USD 15,000,000,000 from account number ending in 8907 was credited to your account ending in 9866.]

Bruce looked at his wife and then at his daughter in disbelief. Did Jack really just receive fifteen billion dollars or did they not hear well? That money was even more than their entire net worth put together.
