CHAPTER 9
Bianca ignored Jack and ran towards Trent’s car which was already making a turn to leave the compound and take.“You can’t do that Trent. No you can’t do that to me,” Bianca complained frantically and bitterly.“Why not?” Trent rolled down his window. “I already slept with you which was my major aim before and promising to marry you was just a trick to get you in my bed. Your crazy ex-husband just gave me the perfect excuse to call it off.” And with that his car zoomed off.Bianca felt like she couldn’t breathe. Just like she used and betrayed Jack, she had been used and betrayed. She crashed to her knees and started to cry.Jack couldn’t believe anything he had just heard of make any sense of it. He only felt a tugging pain in his heart. Bianca had cheated on him in the hopes of marrying Trent?Jack closed his eyes and two teardrops fell from each of his eyes from the pain he felt but how would she have married Trent when they were still married? It was then it dawned on Jack. She was going to divorce him.“Why would you do this to me Bianca? You know how much I love you!” Jack said, clenching his fists in anger.“I don’t love you! I hate you!” Bianca yelled at Jack. “This is all your fault!”“What?” Jack was stunned. “If anybody should be angry here, it should be me. You cheated on me Bianca. You cheated on your husband. Do you know how shameless that is?”“What, are you mad? I didn’t cheat on you! We are divorced! Divorced!” Bianca yelled again. She stood on her feet and stormed into the house.Jack felt like his head was spinning from the confusion and pain Bainca’s words and actions were bringing him.‘When did we get divorced?’ Jack asked himself in his mind.He took a deep breath and ran his hand through his hair before looking around him. Everything was a mess. There was even blood on the floor. Charlotte was still held up inside the security post and he didn’t even know when Marcus left.“Luke, take the boys back inside and then clean up this mess.”“Yes sir!” Luke answered immediately and did as he was told.“I always knew you were an incompetent bastard but I never took you for a complete fool. Do you know what you have just done? You have just signed your death warrant,” Charlotte hissed and pushed past Jack when Luke took the dogs inside.Jack was just entering the living room when Bianca stormed down the stairs from her bedroom and threw some papers on him. “There, those are your copies.”Jack looked at her calculatingly before looking at the papers on the floor. He picked them up and his eyes widened as he stared at them in shock and disbelief.Divorce papers? When did he sign it? Jack could clearly see his signature on the papers. He knew it wasn’t forged. His signature was the complex type that would be very difficult to forge.“What is this Bianca?” Jack asked.“What does it look like?” It was Bruce Kent, Bianca’s father who answered from upstairs as he was coming down. He was asleep before but his wife had filled him in on everything that happened earlier.Jack looked at the papers again, still finding it hard to believe that he signed a divorce agreement that he couldn’t remember, but it was when Jack saw the speck of dried blood on one of the papers that realization hit him.The police station. His bail papers. He remembered signing a lot of papers that he couldn’t see properly then and he was bleeding at the time.Jack chuckled lightly and he started laughing. He looked at the papers in his hands again and he laughed even harder, tears even glistened his eyes and he held his stomach.Bianca, her father and her mother all thought he was probably going mad because of the shocking discovery.“It was you. You set me up. You put the drugs in my car, didn’t you?”Jack finally realized the truth. It must have been Bianca who put the drugs in pocket and in his car. No wonder she was acting extra nice to him that day. What a snake? Jack’s admiration and love for her took a deep dive when he realized what she had done.Bianca was about to reply when Bruce put his hands up to stop her. If Bianca admitted to setting Jack up, Jack could sue them through legal means and if he proved that he signed under duress, the divorce would be annulled. Bruce couldn’t risk it.“Nobody set you up. You are a criminal, a drug dealer. Now get out of my face and never come back here again!” Bruce replied vehemently.Jack scoffed. “Really?”“Your family is nothing to me anymore. I always knew you were a despicable family and I endured your mess because I loved your daughter but I never knew you could stoop so low. You all disgust me.”From the way Jack spoke, Bruce reasoned that something had changed in Jack’s demeanor, he didn’t look as humble as he used to and he sounded very serious.Perhaps his experience in the police station had changed something in him. He also noticed how Jack was wearing new and seemingly expensive designer clothes but Bruce did not want to admit that they were responsible for what happened to him.“Fine,” Charlotte replied out of nowhere. “Now get out. Get out, you disgusting pig!”“Look at me and look at you, who is fat like a pig?” Jack scoffed and mocked Charlotte who was a chubby woman.“Just leave Jack, nobody wants you here. You have wasted enough years of my life and now you have cost me my marriage to a rich man that can actually take care of me and make my life better,” Bianca replied in contempt.Just then, Jack felt his phone beep and Siri, the voice assistant on his phone, read the text he just received out loud. [ An Inward Remittance amounting to USD 15,000,000,000 from account number ending in 8907 was credited to your account ending in 9866.]Bruce looked at his wife and then at his daughter in disbelief. Did Jack really just receive fifteen billion dollars or did they not hear well? That money was even more than their entire net worth put together.CHAPTER 10Jack didn’t need to think too much to know who would’ve sent him that kind of money. He knew it was his family who was trying to bribe him to forgive them for casting him aside like they did. That money alone automatically made him one of the top ten richest individuals in Coral city and he knew there was more where that came from. The look on his wife and in-laws' faces almost made Jack laugh. “It’s a prank! Haha! You should see your faces right now. Where will an ordinary garbage man like me see that kind of money?”“What sort of stupid prank are you playing? I knew a pauper like you can never come across that kind of money,” Charlotte replied, sighing a huge sigh of relief. The momentary thought of Jack being richer than their entire family irked her greatly.Bruce hummed, putting his index finger to his lips and looking at Jack intently. Something told him that message didn’t sound like a prank. Why would Jack throw such a stunt? It was unlike him. Even if he hated Jack
CHAPTER 11The next morning, Jack asked Mildred to set up a meeting with the CEOs of those companies. He wanted to have a talk with them personally. His real identity was still not known to most people so there was no way the CEOs would know who he really was or that they just terminated business with their largest shareholders. Even as the son in law of the Kent family, they didn’t know him personally, only that he had a garbage business and they did business with him because of his association with the Kent family.“Do you know which of the investors want to see us?” Charles Baker, the CEO of Prime Logistics, the biggest logistics company in the city asked. He was in charge of moving imported supplies for the Kent family from the sea port to their warehouse.“I hear Blackbolt investments has a new director and he would like to meet us, at least that is what my assistant told me,” John Connor, the CEO of Havillah Marketing Group replied, they were in charge of marketing and distribut
CHAPTER 12The men’s eyes popped out of their socket, their hearts pounded with fear and their mouths dropped to the floor as they all stared at the documents they had just been handed. They couldn’t believe their eyes. Once the news of Blackbolt pulling out of their companies reached the news, other investors and shareholders would also panic and sell their shares and their companies would be worth next to nothing.“No, you can’t do this to us!” Charles Baker screamed his head off. Blackbolt personally owned 86 percent shares in his company. He would crumble without them backing him.“Please what did we do to deserve this?” Bale Juniper, the CEO of Atlas Packaging and Co. A company responsible for rebranding and repackaging some of the imported products to meet the country’s requirements before leaving the Kent family warehouse asked, his eyes almost teary.“Who asked you to do this? Who is that person? We have never failed to make profit for your company. You can’t just kick us out
CHAPTER 13While Jack was having that meeting with the CEOs, the Kent family mansion and its inhabitants were suffering the wrath of the Garner Patriarch, Stefan Garner, the grandfather of Trent Garner. The wounds the dogs had inflicted on his only grandson were severe and he was demanding for the head of the imbecile who dared to put dogs on him but the problem now was that no one in the Kent household knew where Jack was.“Where is he?!” Stefan asked furiously, his face red and full of veins. Though he was in his early sixties, he was still very fit and young. He wore Khaki shorts and a fitted shirt with thick leather boots which he intended to stomp Jack’s head with.“We already told you sir, we don’t know where he is. But I have killed the useless dogs. I poisoned them myself. Please, we have nothing to do with him anymore,” The usually proud Marcus begged on his knees desperately. One word from Stefan and the entire Kent family as they knew it would cease to exist. It was why they
CHAPTER 14Jack had just finished his meeting with those men after giving them a next to impossible condition and an even more dangerous ultimatum to fulfill it or they could kiss their companies goodbye. After leaving the venue of the meeting, he dropped Mildred at the airport where she took her private jet back home to their parents. The plan was for both of them to head back home before but with the latest developments, Jack decided to stay back and monitor things personally. Moreover an idea was slowly brewing in his mind. An idea to take over Coral city and build his own personal empire here.Heading back to the rented Villa from the airport, Jack changed out of his custom made fancy suit and expensive designer shoes and changed into a more regular trouser and shirt with his refurbished leather shoes and headed to his garbage company office. The office was basically just two rooms. One was for the admin staff, about seven of them, including Jack and his manager and the other for t
CHAPTER 15Jack was no pushover. He wasn’t an expert fighter and he couldn’t fight the ten men alone but he would never back down from a fight, never. The days of bending over for others and being a pushover was over, so he stepped forward.“Who are you and why should I come with you?” Jack questioned fearlessly.“It doesn’t matter who they are chief, one more step and they’re dead,” the homeless man said coldly, in a murderous tone. His eyes had gone red and were solely focused on the leader of the group.“Move aside rat or I’ll tear you apart limb from limb,” Tiger threatened the homeless man with a deep sneer on his face.It was not out of place for Tiger, a big man standing above 7 feet to call the other man a rat, he was much bigger and taller than the other man who was about 5 ft and 11 inches tall and though muscular, the man was nowhere as bulky as the intimidating tiger. But that man was deadly and he was definitely no rat. His name was Cole Turner, an ex special forces milita
CHAPTER 16“Defending ourselves against them is completely legal but torturing them for information isn’t, besides I have a pretty good idea who might have sent them,” Jack replied.“Whatever you say chief,” Cole replied before he kicked Tiger’s nut and despite the crippling pain Tiger experienced, he couldn’t express it, only in his eyes could it be seen.“You heard the boss, load them up,” Cole said, tossing one of the men into the garbage truck.Jack walked up to him. “So you want a job right?” “Anything chief, I can drive, I can pack dirt and I even have some administrative skills,” Cole replied.“I’ll give you a job but not for any of those things. From today you are my personal assistant and bodyguard,” Jack announced with a grin.He knew this was not the last he was going to hear from these men and Cole displayed some really effective skills so why not have someone like him around.Cole felt elated and goosebumps washed up on his skin. He didn’t know what to say or how to feel.
CHAPTER 17Jack’s condition to the eight CEOs was simple and straightforward. Terminate business with the person who asked them to terminate business with his company and he would forgive them, but that wasn’t all.You see, Jack wasn’t a gullible businessman who would just act on his emotions, he knew that as much as losing these eight companies would hurt the Kent family business, losing the Kent family business would also put a dent in the companies’ profit and if he was going to continue investing in them, they needed to keep making profits, so he gave them a clause. If they, alongside the Kents, provided his garbage company with fifty new customers in seven days, he would pardon them and they could also keep the Kents as customers, considering their long standing business relationship.Everything was going according to Jack’s plan. Barry swung into action immediately, contacting the CEOs and asking to meet but only three obliged him, Charles Baker of Prime logistics, John Connor o
