Edward didn’t know where to begin. He was disappointed in himself and also felt mortified. The whole family was depending on him, and he had messed up. This wasn’t how he predicted things to turn out. In his mind, he had assured that everything would be fine. The cartel would successfully destroy Rylan and they would get their company back. But that was all a dream. And as all dreams died when you woke up, this one did too.

As Karen walked into the living room, he was reminded of the promise he had made to her.
