DOUGLAS' PROPOSAL
"I was never dead, Stephanie," Jakes replied as he moved closer to his wife. Stephanie was still shivering in fear and disbelief. She cleaned her eyes to get a clearer picture of Jakes, while Jakes moved closer to touch her. "Can you see that the person standing before you is not a ghost? It's me, Jakes, and nobody else." Jakes said.

Stephanie began to gradually feel relieved. She touched Jakes's hands and face. "I was told that you were dead," Stephanie explained as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I understand, Stephanie. But you can see that your Jakes is still very much alive. There was no such thing as death." Jakes replied.

"I've missed you so much, Jakes. I was kidnapped by my family, and when I was finally released, I went to check the house where we lived but didn't find you there. The neighbours told me you had relocated, and I believed it, until I received a call telling me that you were dead." Stephanie said.
