THE CONTRACT
Back at the Allisons' place, Jakes was now very desperate to get out of the dark room. He shook his legs and hands very vigorously with the hope of making the rope used to tie him become slack.

He repeatedly tried to loosen the rope on his hands and legs, though it seemed impossible; but he refused to give up. He rested a little bit and then continued. He struggled with the rope for a while, until it became very slack. Then he slowly removed his hands and legs from its grip.

Then, he tried to be very alert, if he would hear any sound coming from outside the room. After waiting for what seemed like a long time, he tried shaking the door. He thought of what next to do, then he decided to use his leg in achieving his purpose. He kicked the door very hard; but when he saw that it was yet to be open, he kicked it again, much harder this time. After kicking on the door repeatedly, the door flung open, the eighth time.

Jakes was so excited that he was free at last. He tip-toed out of the room
