Thomas feels like this is a dream. Vance returns to them like a dog with its tail between its legs.

They obviously don't know what happened on the phone, but it's clear that whatever it was, it has left Vance with this humiliated look on his face.

He approaches the table again, his shoulders dropped. “Uh, Andrew. I'm sorry for my outburst. It was inappropriate.”
