Ruby takes her new job very seriously. She believes that if she does it well enough, her grandfather that hates her family will have no other choice than to hire her again. Doreen cries into her hands, her painful sobs pierces the heart of everyone that hears it. Thomas is heartbroken, he gathers her in his arms and comforts her, but that does very little. Doreen has gone to sleep by the time Andrew comes back to the house. As soon as he walks in, he goes up to Doreen and Thomas’ bedroom and drops the necklace on the nightstand.
