Chapter 126

Rosalie told the driver of the taxicab to stop the car. She gave him money and moved out, walking around the street with a deep pain in her heart.

Over twenty-six years, Rosalie saved Den. And since then she finds it hard to love anyone, because almost everyone was making a jest of how ugly she was.

Rosalie had become a laughingstock since twenty-six years ago. You will always meet her in her room reading books. And sometimes she will be in a garret, weeping alone as a girl, and laughing alone as a woman with a novel on her hand.

She remembered back then when Dallas came to marry her. She recalled of how bitterly she wept silently under a white apron over her head, and feels no joy when she feared how his new husband will hate her if he saw her ugly face. She also remembered how her uneasiness grew more before Dallas’s hand touch her shrink-hand, leading her out.
