Chapter 72

Detective Helen sat on the bed in her room beside Jack, and was cleaning her silent tears. She lost the person she mistake as her brother.

She regrets for not obeying Den.

My stubbornness killed him. If I have obeyed him, my brother won't have died, Helen thought to herself, weeping even more.

Her phone rang, but she ignored it.

"It was lieutenant calling you," Jack said as he took her phone.

"Bring it," Helen said.

She then switched it off the moment she received her phone from Jack.

Jack was astonished. How did she have the gut to switch off her phone when Lieutenant Asher wanted to speak with her?

Jack didn't hesitate to ask her why.

"I am tired. Need to quit this fucking job," Helen said.

"What! This is impossible. You can't just do that. People need you."

"They shouldn't. I need to myself too. I want myself to forgive myself. I'm too wicked," Helen said, and cleaning her tears more.

"Den won't want you to quit. I'm sure he wants to see you protecting citizens."
