Silence.

After the death of the baby Thousand Eyed Devil Kraken, the whole atmosphere descended into a stiffling silence. Hovering in the air, August took in a deep breath as the red shade in his eyes slowly vanished.

"This sword is scary!" he gave the longsword a look of trepidation as he swiftly sent it back to his storage ring.

Just now he had been temporarily possessed by the artifact spirit. If his willpower was any weaker and he had held on to the longsword for much longer, his consciousness would've been completely overwritten by the artifact spirit.

"Although using this sword is powerful, I should watch how I use it untill I have completely won the recognition of the artifact spirit" he gave himself a mental warning as the golden boots he wore flickered brilliantly, bringing him back to the runic ship.

"That dirty beast must've been the obstacle we had to face in this mist region. If my guess is right, we are drawing near the shore" he informed Zach, ignoring the frighte

"That was intense! what's up with this new weapon of yours?" Gregory laughed gleefully as he walked towards Aiden's direction, his eyes fixated on Lucificul whose body seemed to have lost its earlier glow.Gregory's current appearance was very scary, with blood covering almost every part of his body. The battle with the Silver Rangers was very intense, as such it was only right that he didn't pay attention to the showers of blood that came with the death of a Silver Ranger."Yeah. That Kusarigama seems to be sucking the life force of the Feind beasts it pierces. Where did you get it from?" Marie asked curiously as she dropped down from the sky while the rest of the group gave Aiden curious looks. His performance was so open that it had caught their attention. After all unlike them, Aiden seemed to have had it easier. He only had to swing his Kusarigama around and whichever Silver Ranger pierced by it instantly dried up. It was like the tough body armor they wore offered no resistance

Tap. Tap. Tap. "How come the stairs of the third layer doesn't seem to end?" Marie couldn't help commenting as she lead the newly formed Blood Dragon Legion through a flight of winding stairs. "Are we trapped in a spatial loop or something?" Aiden turned towards Red Rose since she was the one with the spatial mojo. The group had been ascending the stairs for quite some time, yet they couldn't see the end. It was like the stairs was limitless. "I doubt it. I cannot sense the slightest spatial fluctuation " Red Rose shook her head in denial. Boom! Oge suddenly jumped back as a large stinger struck the position where she was previously standing, creating a large Hall. If Oge had been a single second too late, her body would've been pierced through. "What's that?" the rest of the group went high on alert as they finally noticed the culprit of the sneak attack. It was a large scorpion like beast. However unlike other scorpions, this one possessed six near transparent wings and t

"I-Is this a City? A Feind beast city?!" Rin stared at the large blood red gate with a confused expression.According to rumors, weren't Feind beasts supposed to be mindless creatures who only knew how to slaughter. At first the fact that some of them were weilding armor came as a surprise to them. But a city?!"No. This is a Garrison!" Red Rose expression became serious as she suddenly cried."Take cover!"Luckily there was a nearby boulder, giving the group a perfect place to hide. A few seconds later, three Winged Panda Men emerged from within the blood colored gate, arriving at the entrance of the third layer. These Winged Panda Men were shockingly Azure Rangers However they were not riding a mount like the first one."I thought I heard the sound of battle?" the one at the middle asked his comrades in a language that the group didn't understand. However for some unknown reason, a new window popped open on the system panel screen, translating their words to Aiden."I don't see anyt

  • The Vampire System    Chapter 256 — August Betrayal

"We are here!" a bright smile of relief appeared on Zach's lips as he felt the runic boat come to a stop upon arriving at the shore. All through the way, the atmosphere had been completely tense. After their run in with the Baby Thousand Eyed Devil Kraken, the group no longer dared look down on the Ancestral Ruins. Fortunately for them, they were not attacked. After everyone left the Runic Boat, Zach dispersed it before following August lead as they began to walk forward. The shore wasn't made of sand but solid multi colored pebbles. Although they felt these pebbles would sell for much in the outside world, none of the Sentries had the hearts to pick them up. This was a cautiousness that was bred from the traumatic experience they had gone through. "I think we are here" it was unknown how long they had been walking, but the group finally arrived at a large stone door. "Another door?" Zach frowned as he stepped forward. The stone door had already been overgrown with weed. I

"These guys are really strong" Aiden frowned as he stared at the Azure Ranger before him. He and the rest of the Blood Dragon Legion had been battling for over twenty minutes now. However since then they had not managed to even take down a single Azure Ranger. Although they were only a tad bit weaker than Silver Generals, these Azure Rangers were a lot more smarter. Unlike the Silver Generals who were more brutes than brains, these Azure Rangers knew how best to utilize their strength. Not to mention some of them could cast Hexes. However unlike Magis, these ones used long staffs. "They are very coordinated as well" Marie frowned as the Azure Ranger she was battling sent her staggering back. "What are we going to do now?" Rin asked Aiden. The thirty something Azure Rangers had them completely surrounded. They could neither advance or retreat. Boom! Before Aiden could reply, the ground shook as loud approaching footsteps rang out. Suddenly the Azure Rangers who had Aiden and the

"I guess this is the part where you surrender. You are completely surrounded" Aiden smirked confidently as Lucificul hung lazily across his shoulder. Sprawled on the ground was the Azure Ranger whose armor was completely covered in spiderweb cracks. Surrounding him were the dead corpses of the other Azure Rangers. As for the corpse of the Winged Scorpion Beedozer, its life essence had already been sapped away by Lucificul. As for it's lifeless husk, it was sprawled carelessly in another corner. "Hmpfh. Don't think my Winged Panda Man race is weak willed" the Azure Ranger snorted as it suddenly brought out a bone dagger, stabbing towards his chest. "Were you given the chance to commit suicide?" a snort rang out as the sound of a sabre swiftly being drawn out rang out before suddenly subsiding. Shatter! The Azure Ranger stared in shock at the broken shards of the bone dagger. Just a few inches and his fingers would've been sliced off as well.. "Did anybody bring a rope with them

  • The Vampire System    Chapter 259 — The Second Wave

"Sir! we have successfully stopped the first wave of the invading Feind beasts" a Royal Sentinel saluted as he stood before Zion. "What about our arsenal?" Zion had an unreadable expression on his face as he slowly looked down on the ground from the back of the Sky Piercing Eagle mount. "Two thirds of the squad members are low on energy. The Healing Magis are doing their best to help recover their lost strength. However according to a rough estimate, only half the of them would be in fighting condition once the second wave begins" the Royal Sentinel reported. "That's no good" Zion clicked his tongue with frustration. Normally during a Ruins Rift, there were several waves of attacks. The first waves usually consisted of the weakest Feind beasts in that Ruins. The more waves that followed after packed more power. If the first wave was enough to almost cripple them with their full strength, there was no hope of fending off the second wave with half of their man power. "What ab

Twang! The staff weilding Silver General staggered back a bit after blocking the sudden attack with his staff. As for Zion, he took advantage of the rebound force to spin his sword, thrusting it towards the femme Silver General who happened to be the closest to him. "Hmpfh" the femme Silver General snorted contemptuously, easily blocking the sudden attack with one of her two battle axe, while smashing the second one towards Zion's wrist. If Zion continued with the attack, his wrist would definitely get chopped off "Tsk" clicking his tongue, a burst of sword force erupted outward, causing the Femme Silver General to stagger back, causing her axe chop to miss its target. It wasn't just his movement speed that was being affected, he could also sense that the flow of his beta force was beginning to slow down as well. "You've begun feeling the effect no?" with her previously pale expression regaining its color, Captain Millie's Rune Cape appeared behind her as she took into the skies, looking down on the confused August with a sneer. "Basically you are trapped in the Diamond grade Rune Matrix, Twelve Points G Pole.." "D-diamond grade?!" August chest tightened. What the hell was this?! he just concluded battling an opponent with a delta level enchanted armament, now he was trapped within a friggin diamond grade rune matrix Although he had no idea what the capab

Although it was a given that taking down August was going to result in serious casualties and perhaps death, it still didn't hurt less when it eventually happened. "Brace yourselves!" Owling's warning had only just rang out when a fast moving figure shot out from the cloud of dust. Although August seemed to be clearly using the Celestial Steps footwork, his trajectory appeared to be strictly linear. "To think he's already capable of utilizing the second level of Celestial Steps, Blazing Trail.." Captain High Valley's expression went ashen. "Now!" Owling held out his fist. At that moment, Captain Millie and a chubby male Sentry who went by the name Beau, suddenly shot into the air as their fingers perfo

With a single lift of his brows, a terrifying pressure descending upon Nedia as he got pummeled into the lake of blood. As soon as that happened, he noticed the entire scenery seemed to have experienced a transition. He was no longer in the red world, but in a countryside village like environment. "I.. They've been ten minutes deep in their therapy session and so far, she's succeeded in holding a two way conversation with him. For her, this was progress. "I envy the privileges he had. There was even a time when I wished to have his life.." Aiden shook his head self loathingly. "Oh? and why would you ever think of that? you have to know that no matter how it appears to be on the surface, nobody's life is a rose without its thorns.." Aiden's brows knitted as he adopted a serious tone. "Rio was different. He had everything I ever wanted.. loving parents who spent all their time doting on him, a confident social life.. if I started listing them I'm afraid I won't be able to stop.." "Hmm.. makes sense. However you mentioned parents who spent all their time doting on him.. do you mean to say they are dead?" Aiden nodded, causing Dr. List to exhale. "That must've been

"Blood?" at that moment, her vision suddenly became fuzzy as she nearly tripped before finally finding her balance. "Tch. It would seem that I am near my limit.. "Oh really?" a mocking sneer suddenly echoed, causing a shiver to run up Captain Sarai's spine. She had only just done that when a heavy and equally fast object slammed down on her previous position. If she had been any second later, no do

"So I'm going to ask again.." Dr. List smiled briefly at Aiden. "Are you nervous because this is your first experience at therapy?" Aiden bit his lower lips. He appeared to be on the verge on saying something before pushing his lips as he nodded. Dr. List narrowed her eyes, easily seeing through his lies. "So I heard from your friend outside that you've been experiencing some mental nightmarish experiences?" Dr. List donned her professional face. "She's just exaggerating.. I was just having a bad dream. That's all.." "Heh.." Dr. List adjusted the rims of her glasses. "You aren't being completely honest with me. This surely isn't your first time experiencing this kind of trance like state.. am I wrong?" Aiden tried averting his gaze as his lips moved, obviously in the process of spewing another lie. "Huh?" the look of confidence on August expression soon disappeared a couple moments after. "What is the meaning of this?!" his expression went ashen. No matter how much energy he channeled into the longsword, not a single rune lit up. Forget partial activation, there wasn't even a single reaction. "What did you do?!" clenching his jaws in rage, he roared in outrage. "What I did?" "For somebody of your status, I thought you'd know about this fact by now?' the sneer in Captain Sarai's statement stroked August rage even more. "The situation is simple really. I have received the recognition of my artifact spirit, you haven't. As such no matter whether your enchanted armament surpasses mine in rankings, it won't mean shit. Right now, your enchanted armament is nothing but a useless hunk of metal.. " "No. No!" August expression fell. "You must be lying!" Channeling more energy into the longsword, a greenish halo surrounded its surface as an Hex Pattern appeared behind August wit

Within the swirling cloud of dust.. Bang! Bang! Bang! A katana and a fist collided multiple times before suddenly coming to a stop as both opposing parties skipped back, drawing distance between themselves. "Oh?" "Are you worried that you might cause more damage than good? don't worry I can tell that the runic matrix around us is sturdy enough to withstand anything you throw at it.." "... However I don't think the same can be said for me!" tapping his feet on the ground, August disappeared. "Hngh" flipping the hilt of her katana, Captain Sarai suddenly pierced it towards her right. He was the Captain of an X-rank Guild.. an existence like that were rumored to possess the power to challenge an entire country without any foreign intervention. Although it was often regarded as an alligory, that went to show just how terrifying Captains from X-rank Guilds were. "Screw this!" one of the Sentries finally decided to make that first move.
