Useless Husband

"What did you say? Do you want to remarry?" said Christine, who was struck by lightning in broad daylight when she heard her husband's confession.

"I can't turn down mommy, Chris! You know mommy's temper is tough!" Karel said justifying his actions.

"What is this, Kar... Why do you suddenly want to remarry?"

Christine really didn't accept it because Karel said it was her mother who forced her to remarry. So far she has not done anything wrong as Karel's wife.

"I said earlier... it was mother who told me to remarry! You know how mother is?" Karel said without the slightest feeling of guilt.

"What's wrong with me, Kar?" said Christine, who couldn't stop thinking about Karel's attitude, her husband.

"There's nothing wrong Chris... it's just that I have to remarry to make mom happy!" said Carl.

"Is it true that now your mother is not happy with our marriage! You are too much, Kar!" said Christine angrily.

She didn't expect that she married such a good-for-nothing man. A man who is afraid of his mother's strong influence. A man who can't even defend his own wife in front of his mother.

"Mom didn't say that."

"So... what's the reason for telling you to remarry! How strange!" said Christine in a rage.

"Mom wants me to be happy. That's what mom told me, Chris! I beg Chris, just grant me this request so my mom can be happy."

"So your mother's happiness is more important! Sacrificing my sick feelings is not important to you! What a cruel man you are, Kar!"

Christine was really confused and angry with Karel's unilateral decision.

"How cruel? I just married again! I didn't hurt you at all!"

Again, Karel justified his actions as if they were normal for him.

"You are really out of your mind, Kar! Your child is still small, even Cindy is only 5 years old. I also just gave birth to a boy for you, Mas!"

Christine really couldn't hold back her emotions and anger towards Karel who she considered a coward as the head of the household.

"Whatever you say, Chris! I'm still getting married! Full stop!" said Karel, who did not want to discuss his marriage anymore.

"If you want to remarry, go ahead! But first, divorce me, Mas! I don't want to be pitted against you!" Christine insisted. "I'll take my children that your crazy mother doesn't like!"

Plaak!

A slap landed on Christine's cheek, which took Christine by surprise.

Karel had never been rude to her before.

Since dating and getting married until now, Karel has never had any domestic violence.

But now, Karel slapped her hard, which left a palm print on her cheek that really hurt her.

Not the physical pain from Karel's slap, but the unbearable pain in her heart.

Her husband, Karel Smith became a very violent man just because he wanted to follow his mother's advice to marry again, for no apparent reason.

"Don't bring my mother into this matter! All of this is my absolute decision, there is no coercion from my mother! It's clear!" shouted Karel without remorse.

Karel had slapped him hard, but no remorse came out of his mouth.

"If you touch me one more time with that rough hand of yours... don't blame me if the police come here to arrest you, Mas!" Christine threatened.

Karel just realized that he had done something rude to his wife that he had never done to Christine before.

"I'm sorry Chris ... I don't know what else to do," Karel said.

"I demand a divorce as soon as possible! If you don't divorce me until you remarry, then I will run away from this house with my children!" Christine threatened.

"I can't divorce you, Chris! My mom doesn't want me to divorce you! She wants you to stay in this house taking care of me!" said Karel with imploring eyes.

"What did you say! So your mother ordered me to be a maid in this house! Your mother is so impudent! Because you are a rich family...so you can act as you please!"

Christine's anger was on the verge of normal. The man she married was going to betray herself by remarrying another woman.

"What else do I have to do Chris so you understand my situation," said Karel, bowing his head languidly.

Christine just shook her head at Karel's behavior, who couldn't act manly as a husband protecting his wife. Karel was a really good-for-nothing man, who only lived under his mother's armpits.

Their argument woke Cindy who was still rubbing her eyes.

"What are mom and dad doing? Why are they screaming? Cindy can't sleep," said this little girl innocently.

Christine who looked at Cindy temporarily forgot her anger towards Karel by bringing Cindy back to her bedroom.

"It's okay honey... mom and dad were just talking too loudly. Sorry for waking you up!" Christine said softly to her daughter.

Karel just stood there in silence without doing anything. Christine was starting to get sick of seeing her husband being so good-for-nothing.

"Let's talk about it tomorrow morning. Don't let the children wake up from their sleep just because of our problems! Here are pillows and bolsters ... you sleep on the couch! I don't want to sleep in bed with you anymore!" said Christine kicking Karel out of his room.

"Chris... let's talk about it carefully! Don't let you make my mother angry. It will affect the children later."

"Don't bring the children, Mas! You have never loved my children! Your job is only to take care of your mother, even though your mother is not very old either!" said Christine irritably.

"Chris...!"

Karel went awry and just stood there doing nothing.

This man just stood there dumbfounded and stared at Christine, expecting his wife to change her decision to throw him out.

If he sleeps on the couch then his mother will question him which will result in his mother snapping at Christine. But Christine had also kicked him out of the room, which left him at a loss as to what to do.

"I don't want to make you angry. I'll just sleep on the floor! You can't know about our problem, which will only make things worse!" said Karel giving a plausible reason to stay in the room.

Christine let Karel sleep on the floor, because what Karel said had some truth to it. If the old grandmother saw her favorite child sleeping on the sofa, she would definitely be the one who was completely beaten up by her parents-in-law.

"I just want you to file for divorce before you remarry, let me be free from you. Give me back my certificate which you kept in the bank safe so I can work again as before, to support my children! I will not make you support my children. You can Calm down marry your new girlfriend!" Christine insisted.

"I'll try, but I can't promise because my mom still doesn't want me to divorce you!" said Karel. "Throughout the history of the Smith family, there has never been a divorce that could tarnish the family name!"

"I don't care anymore, Mas! Give me back my diploma. Tomorrow I will start applying for jobs at the company. I can't stand your family's treatment anymore!" Christine said regardless of Karel's words.

"Tomorrow I'll get your diploma, but I beg you not to apply for a job first!" Karel said pleadingly.

"I'm tired, Kar! I've behaved well while I was a daughter-in-law. I even accepted your proposal when my career was climbing up, Mas! But I didn't expect this kind of treatment that I get from you!"

Christine really could not forgive the actions of her husband and in-laws.

If Karel is determined to marry according to her mother's request, then Christine decides to leave Karel forever, regardless of whether Karel is serious about divorcing her or not.
