Chapter 2 “Who Will Crawl Back?”

Arthur found himself waking up in a hospital bed, but this time, he wasn’t lost or confused. The memories of another life flooded back to him, and he realized he had come back as a different person in a new timeline.

How did this happen? He had no clue. But one thing was clear: he had been given a second shot at life.

“What’s the point of starting over? I never got my revenge on the jerk who stabbed me in the back,” he muttered while sitting on the hospital bed.

Once he was fully awake, he grabbed his phone to look up information about the war.

If it weren’t for the memories he carried, he would have been blown away by how much technology had advanced since his original time.

In any case, his name had once been etched in history. His country emerged victorious, bringing an end to the fighting. But after his death, no one noted that he had been betrayed by those he trusted. Instead, history painted him as a coward who fled in the midst of battle.

"This is so unfair! Why were the records so messed up?!" Arthur grumbled.

Even though he was relieved to find out his people made it through the war, he was frustrated that he didn’t get to go down in history as a hero.

He was the greatest General ever!

With a heavy sigh, Arthur heard the door creak open. He glanced over and spotted his wife, Lea.

In his mind, he recalled that no one in the Shawn family really cared for him, and his wife was no different.

“If you had just come home sooner, none of this would’ve happened. This is all your fault,” were the first words out of Lea’s mouth when she saw him with a bandage wrapped around his head.

‘Why did an idiot like him marry this woman?’ Arthur wanted to ask the original owner of his body.

As he stayed silent, Lea kept going, “You embarrassed me in front of my family! Mr. Chain gave Grandma a property, and you showed up looking like a total mess! Now everyone’s talking about how my brothers picked on you! If you keep acting like a loser, I’m definitely going to divorce you!”

Arthur locked his gaze on the stunning woman.

For years, her husband had treated her like royalty. But what did he get in return?

Lea’s mom was always putting him down, and her dad seemed to enjoy watching her brothers beat him up. They claimed he was just living off their money, but every dollar he spent was earned through hard work, delivering pizzas day in and day out.

He loved her so much that he put up with it all. But now that the former General was in control, he wasn’t going to put up with this nonsense anymore.

“Let’s do it. Divorce me,” Arthur shot back, brimming with confidence.

Lea was taken aback for a second but quickly covered it up with a sarcastic laugh. "Really? You think you can just divorce me? I’m the granddaughter of the Shawn family, for crying out loud?!”

“You mentioned it first. Honestly, I’m over living with you and your family. Let’s just get the divorce papers signed.”

Lea stood there, completely shocked. She couldn’t believe her husband was actually okay with this.

In a fit of anger, she yelled, “Go ahead! Divorce me and see how you get by without me! My parents must have lost their minds letting me marry you. The Shawn family has money, and you? You’re just a broke nobody who never deserved to be my husband! You’ll regret this! You’ll come crawling back for my forgiveness!”

Lea stormed out of the room, completely unaware of the smirk on Arthur’s face as the door slammed behind her.

“Let’s see who ends up begging,” he whispered to himself.

Arthur Dwight might be broke, but the former General was not.

“I just need to remember where I buried my gold and diamonds,” he said quietly.
