Chapter 93

Derek was staring wordlessly at Davide. He had so many thoughts going on in his head, however he could not bring himself to formulate an adequate reason for the question asked.

He casually bit into his chicken like he wasn't having a tsunami in his head. 

"Because of protection, Davide. I can't love you like I lost my brother". He said.

Davide felt his heart warm up, he never thought that Derek possessed this fear in his heart, this worry for him. He thought at the very least, Derek just acknowledged him as his nephew and there was nothing more to it. But as it seemed, he was quite precious to the man.
