Davide's mind spun as he processed Zeta's words.
The traffic lights turned green, but Davide didn't seem to notice.
"Davide, the lights." Zeta whispered to him.
Davide drove to the corner of the road, as he stepped on the brakes, and he gave Zeta a death stare.
"Wait, what did you just say?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Zeta looked at Davide with a mixture of sympathy and amusement. "I said that you're the young master of the West's family," she repeated patiently. "You're the heir to your family's fortune."
Davide felt a jolt of shock shoot through him. He had grown up in the orphanage, and he had no idea of who his family is or if his parents were alive.
"You must be mistaken," he said, shaking his head. "That can't be true, I'm an orphan."
Zeta smiled gently, "Oh, it's no mistake, Davide," she said softly. "Your family's wealth has been kept a secret from you for your protection. But now that you've come of age, it's time for you to claim what is rightfully yours."
Davide's mind raced with a flurry of emotions. Disbelief, confusion, and curiosity all vied for his attention. He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that he was a part of a wealthy family.
Zeta could see the disbelief glinting in Davide's eyes and she said, "You don't believe me."
Davide didn't utter a word, his brows were furrowed, staring at Zeta like she was speaking gibberish.
There was a moment of silence, Davide could hear his heartbeat, thumping loud in his ears as he tries to get a grasp of Zeta's words.
But then she said, "I will make you believe me." She grabbed her phone and dialed a number-
"Hello,"
"Yes, I am here with the young Master." She said.
Zeta stared straight at Davide, a smirk playing on her lips as she said, "Please do something."
'Do what?' Davide thought.
There was a raging hostility in Davide's eyes, threatening to drown Zeta. His thumbs pressed down on his thighs, as his lips danced in fury.
But then, his phone beeped, and he instantly looked at the screen.
Davide's eyes widened as he read the message. It was a confirmation from his bank, notifying him of a deposit of 100 million dollars into his account. He blinked in astonishment, unable to comprehend the reality of what he was seeing.
Davide thought it was some kind of a scam, and tossed the phone on the console.
He didn't want to get his hopes up just to have it dashed.
He refused to believe a single word this lady was saying. He had fallen for his scam of a marriage.
He couldn't fall for this, he wasn't that desperate.
He instantly fixed his gaze on Zeta who seemed to have ended her call.
"What exactly was that all about?" He frowned at her.
He didn't let her speak as he fired on, "Manipulating my mobile phone just to prove a point? That's below you." He said.
Zeta only smiled at him, "It's not what you think, young master. I am simply telling you the truth."
Davide shook his head, He didn't understand how someone he know nothing about could tell him about his family.
"You still don't believe me?" Zeta studied his clear eyes, there was nothing but fury in them.
"It's real," Zeta said, her voice filled with satisfaction. "100 million dollars, it's real Davide."
Davide scoffed, "It's a scam."
As he said it, a part of him hoped it wasn't. He needed his freedom from his marriage and this sham was looking like the only hope for him.
"No," he whispered to himself as he shook his head.
Just then, Davide's phone rang. He glanced at the screen then at Zeta and back to his screen.
It wasn't a number that was saved in his phone, he kept staring at the screen for a moment before he answered.
"Hello, Mr. Davide." A strange voice said from the other end of the phone.
"Who's this?" Davide expression tensed up and his brows crinkled.
"This is Thomas Bradford, your account manager at Starlen's Bank. I'm calling to say a big congratulations to you. Your account has been credited with 100 million dollars."
That only made Davide angry, "Stop this, it won't work." he said stubbornly.
"I am sorry?" the man apologized.
Davide furrowed his brows, the man didn't sound like a scammer neither did he sound normal.
Davide lips parted, "Who did you say you are?"
"Your bank manager sir, we are pleased to have you banking with us. When will you be coming over to get your black card, sir?"
Davide's mind went blank for a moment, and then a surge of emotions crashed over him like a tidal wave. Disbelief, excitement, and overwhelming gratitude flooded his senses, and he found himself at a loss for words.
His thumbs started shaking, until his phone hit the car's floor and the call disconnected. Davide's gaze drifted to Zeta, seeing how she was laughing.
There was a sudden thrill that rushed through his nerves. For a moment, he was left frozen, staring at Zeta.
Davide was simply floored, he still couldn't believe that it was real. His ears rang with the manager's words.
He blinked and opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He had been rendered speechless.
"So you believe me now, Mr. West?"
She addressed him by his surname. Davide's eyes well up, as he grabbed his phone. He stared at the Bank's message again and checked his balance.
The figures still weren't moving, they were still the same.
"I...I don't know what to say," Davide stammered, tears filling his eyes.
Zeta smiled warmly at Davide, her eyes filled with pride. "You deserve it, Davide," she said softly. "You're a part of a wealthy family, and now it's time for you to take over your family's businesses."
Davide nodded, still trying to process the whirlwind of emotions coursing through him. He couldn't believe that his life was about to change so dramatically.
His eyes twitched in shock and he stared straight into Zeta's eyes, "Did you just call me Mr. West? Do you mean the West's firm? Is it that family?"
Zeta nodded. "Yes, it is. You are the only heir to the West's family, and the firm is only just one percent of your family's wealth."
Zeta continued to reveal the extent of Davide's family wealth, and Davide listened in awe, his head spinning with the magnitude of it all. She explained that his family had investments in various industries around the world, from real estate to technology, and their fortune far surpassed what Davide could have ever imagined.
Zeta said, her voice tinged with admiration. "Your family's empire is vast, Davide, and you are now the rightful heir to it all."
Davide's mind raced as he tried to comprehend the sheer scale of his family's wealth.
Shock coursed through his veins, leaving him momentarily speechless. The dizziness that followed was palpable, and suddenly, he blacked out.
A black luxury car drove into the West's plaza and stopped at the parking lot.Davide looked out of the window and saw that they had arrived at a grand plaza, adorned with towering skyscraper and opulent architectural designs. "We are here." Zeta said as she turned off the engine of the car. "This is the headquarters of your family's business in the city." The two stepped out of the car, and entered the plaza. Davide subconsciously studied the plaza in awe, his lips left opened. The skin of his forehead tightened as his eyebrows remained raised. His eyes were wandering around. As they walked towards the receptionist, Davide saw a familiar silhouette appeared. He stared straight at the man, and a scoff escaped his lips. It was Noah.Davide thought, since Avery will no longer be part of his life, then he wasn't going to see Noah again, but he was wrong. He tried to look away, but every step closer to the reception only made him glare at the man. He recalled how he treated him back
Zeta's heart raced as she faced the board of directors. There was a sudden calmness running through her veins that slowly drowned the rage piercing deep into her bones. She flashed a confident smile at the board of directors, who seemed puzzled by Noah's presence.Zeta then turned to Davide who seemed confused.Davide was stunned, seeing how they lowered their heads to Zeta made him want to question everything but instead, he caught a glimpse of Noah.A smirk played on Davide's lips, seeing Noah still trembling. He wanted to pull his tie and punch his face. He wanted to embarrass him like Noah did to him, but Davide suddenly felt Zeta's hand on his arm. He stared at her hand, his brows raised in curiousity, he looked back at her meeting her gaze. Zeta met his eyes, she urged him to calm down silently praying that he gets her message.Davide nodded slightly."Who is this man?" Zeta asked the board of directors. She could feel rage coursing through her veins. She pointed at Noah, he
Davide looked at the board of directors and accepted their apology in a composed manner. His eyes wavered between their faces, expecting to see a glint of familiarity in their eyes, but they didn't seem to know him.'They don't know me?' He scoffed and his gaze drifted to Zeta. Zeta's lips widened as she smiled at Davide. She held Davide's hand, "Let's go." Davide stared at her for a moment, and sighed. When he looked at the board of directors, the confusion on their faces seemed to have worsen seeing Zeta was holding his hand but none said a word. They entered the elevator, heading to the 54th floor which was the highest floor in the building. Within minutes, the elevator opened. Seeing how big and exorbitant the plaza was, a sudden rush of doubt rushed through Davide's spine. His heart thumped faster, and his mind was a whirlwind of emotions. He couldn't believe that he was now the owner of the biggest company in the city. Excitement, fear, and a sense of overwhelming respons
The middle-aged woman sat in her office, her face red with anger. She had called Sarah, the underling, to her office, and she was not happy with what she had to say."Sarah, how could you not tell me in advance?" the woman cursed, her voice rising in frustration.Sarah felt wronged by the accusation. "I sent you an email, but you didn't reply," she protested. The middle-aged woman sneered at her underling. "You think that's an excuse? You should have made sure I got the message, it's all your fault."Sarah's heart sank. She had been working hard to keep up with the demands of her boss, but it seemed like nothing was ever enough. She tried to speak up, but the woman cut her off."Enough. You'll just have to help this young man finish the process. And don't mess up again, or else you'll be out of job."With that, the woman sat back in her chair, pulling out her cell phone as if nothing had happened. She suddenly paused and turns to Davide who gave been quietly watching her and Sarah."G
The hours dragged on, and finally, the work day had come to an end. Davide remained in the office because he had no clue where to go, and he needed to talk to Zeta about the things he noticed in the office.Under everyone's watchful gaze, the manager still sent lecherous looks toward Gwen. It irritated Davide and made his heart boil with rage. The company was the biggest in the country, and only the workers knew what was happening behind closed doors. There were problems that none of them could speak about, and if they attempted to, they would be silenced or tagged as whistleblowers, which would greatly affect their opportunity of having a job in the future. This was one thing that Davide understood regarding the matter concerning the manager and Gwen, and he also guessed that Gwen wasn't the first woman that had gone through unspeakable things in the company. There was Sarah, who was underappreciated and was going through a lot of maltreatment from her superior. Davide couldn't even
Davide absorbed the information while nodding his head. He checked the wristwatch tied around his wrist for the time. He still had a few hours before the dinner. "You should get rid of that". Derek pointed at his wrist. "You're going to inherit all of this and you shouldn't be caught wearing something so cheap". Davide chuckled, he instinctively hid his wrist away, "nobody should know I'm alive just yet. I cannot head a company as big as this when I have no past experience about working. I made the decision to work as an employee first before I'm announced as the head." Derek smiled, "you're just like your father; humble and naive". Davide chuckled. "You should meet my son, he's twelve years old and he is almost a teenager now and he isn't holding back on his rebellion. He's nothing like any twelve year old boy and he keeps getting on my nerves. I don't blame him though, when I was his age, I gave my parents a hard time." Davide laughed. Derek led him out of the study and Ze
Zeta was distraught by the sudden emotions that washed over her. It couldn't be denied that the main reason she reacted that way towards him was because Davide was a handsome man.It was a truth that could not be put forward for more investigation. And then, such a handsome man was wearing a suit.Davide had a lithe figure, his skin was marvelous and his body was perfect. He had long legs, slim build and an aura of beauty. 'of course, it had to be that. It had to be because he is so handsome'. Zeta thought. Her once raging heart was finally put to rest and the smile that appeared on her face couldn't be anymore platonic."Marvelous!" She exclaimed. "It's such a perfect fit".Davide chuckled shyly, darting his eyes away, he removed the jacket and handed it over to Zeta. She collected it with raised eyebrows and a teasing smile, "what is this?"Davide chuckled, "I don't know if it's a good idea to own things like this. I still have to go to dinner and it's already past hours".Somehow,
Davide felt like he was rooted to the earth. He had momentarily forgotten what he had planned on doing and where he had found himself was in the deep waters of Avery's eyes.'fuck'.He was too distraught to allow himself to get lost in wondering what she was doing there or if she had appeared suddenly because she had someone tracking him.He wanted to go over to her and maybe talk to her but then he remembered that Avery did not want to talk to him.He remembered the abuse, the ridicule, the disrespect and suddenly, the desire to hear the sound of her voice faded away. It was immediately replaced by the pricking hate he held for her.And that hate reflected in his expression. He walked away towards the bathroom to find Gwen. There were two doors standing beside each other, one was labeled 'Men' and the other, 'Women'. Davide didn't know if it was proper to just barge into the women's bathroom so he decided to knock. He placed two knocks then placed his ear on the door trying to liste
