In the police station, Richardson couldn’t believe what was playing out before him.
His best friend of over five years completely twisted the actual story around before the police men, and Richardson could do nothing but watch as it all played out.
His best friend claimed that he had coincidentally been at Alice’s house when something bad had been about to befall her.
He claimed to be a workmate of Alice and had gone to Alice’s house to give her some files which they were both supposed to work together on, and that was when he had caught Richardson in the act of attempting to forcefully rape Alice.
He claimed to have helped Alice escape from Richardson’s hold, which made Richardson angry that he decided to beat him up.
Richardson’s mouth could only part in shock as he watched his Bestfriend speak so animatedly, like all what he was saying was actually real.
Richardson attempt to say his side of the story countless times, but was shunned. He accused Michael of telling lies but was disregarded instantly.
“You were really about to rape her, thank heavens for my intervention,” Michael spoke as he dabbed an icepack to his busted lips. His broken nose was currently bandaged up.
“That’s not true, Michael. Stop telling lies. You and Alice are not workmates, you’re telling lies.” Richardson attempted saying for the hundredth time but the policemen only scoffed at his words.
“We both know I’m telling the truth, who knows if you’ve been raping Alice constantly, huh?” Michael snapped out and Richardson flinched. The policemen appalued Michael for saving Alice from Richardson.
“Well, what did anyone even expect from a male stripper?” Michael mocked with an eyeroll.
“Oh, he’s a stripper?” One of the policemen asked and Richardson denied it just as Michael drawled out.
“He is.”
“That explains it then.” Another policemen scoffed and they all laughed along with Michael for a few seconds. Never had Richardson felt this helpless in his entire life.
“Mr. Wilson, If all what Mr. Michael has said is true, then you’d be charged for two crimes. One for rape and one for assault.”
Richardson shook his head vigorously. “Those claims are not true, I swear to you.”
“Time would tell, Mr. Wilson. If you’re unable to prove yourself innocent, you’d be in jail for the rest of your life.”
Richardson felt began to spin even more and his heart felt like it was going to tear out of his chest from how hard it was thumping.
Richardson feels like his girlfriend would be able to prove to the public that he didn’t do a thing to her. He believes in her.
A few minutes later, the policeman returned back to the questioning room and informed Richardson that since he was currently guilty of two offenses, he was going to be thrown into jail for now.
“What?” Richardson thundered in shock but was informed that it was the normal protocol of the police.
“No, please. I can’t get thrown in jail.” He tried pleading but as expected, his pleas fell on deaf ears.
“Can I please see my girlfriend at least? I promise you that she’d tell you all the truth, I swear I didn’t do a thing to her.” Richardson cried out desperately just as he was dragged out of the chair and shoved forward.
“You can’t see anyone right now.” He was informed as he got led towards where he assumed was the cells.
“Please, I really need to see her.” He tried again.
“You can’t see anyone, Mr. Wilson. Although, you have a right to get yourself a lawyer.” He got informed as he was roughly shoved into an empty cell.
Richardson watched as the policeman left him in the call as his shoulders sagged. Contacting a lawyer was out of the question for him, seeing as he didn’t have a dime in his bank account.
He attempted to call the policemen back and even rattle the cell, but that didn’t help his situation in any way. He gave up calling the policemen back when some people in other cells started mocking him for being pathetic and desperate, while some complained about him making unnecessary noise.
Richardson slowly slumped down against the dirty cell wall and let his head drop dejectedly. A single tear slide down his cheeks which he was quick to wipe off.
Richardson silently began to ask himself just why he was so unfortunate in every situations. He couldn’t believe all what had unfolded today had happened in a single day– in a day which he had hoped his life was going to completely turn around in.
Richardson couldn’t sleep that night, nor could he bring himself to eat the food that was served to everyone.
The next morning, when one of the policemen who had arrested him showed up, he jumped to his feet hastily. He wondered if the policemen was here to inform him that he was going to be spending the rest of his life in prison.
The policemen unlocked the call and said. “You’re free to go.”
Richardson was confused, but he didn’t dare question the policeman and instantly made his way out of the cell. He collected his phone and a few more things of him that got confined by the policemen, and finally stepped out of the prison.
He sucked in a deep breath, finally feeling like he could breathe well again. It was like the prison walls had prevented him from breathing well since yesterday.
He was about to head home when he noticed a car parked a few feet away from where he was standing at. The car was a Rolls Royce, and telling from how gleaming it was right now, Richardson was sure it cost no less than thireeen million dollars.
A men dressed in a suit stepped out of the car in that moment and Richardson instantly averted his gaze, not wanting his admiration for the car to be blatantly obvious.
However, he was confused and instantly began to feel self conscious when the man approached him, and the words that escaped the man’s mouth when he finally stood before Richardson, completely took his aback.
“Sir, I’m here to pick you up.”
Richardson was stunned into shock at the man’s words, and he made himself glance around the entire area to be sure that this man right here was indeed referring to him and not someone else.“Excuse me?” Richardson managed to croak out.The man whose suit’s texture was as smooth as butter, went ahead to bow his head, which unnerved Richardson so much that he almost dropped to his knees as well. “Pardon my disrespect, sir, I’m here to pick you up.” The man spoke once again, and Richardson wasn’t sure of what to make of what he was hearing right now.“Are you sure you have the right person, Mister?” Richardson asked skeptically while taking a long look at the tattered clothes on his body, and the silky suit this man right here was in.‘He definitely has the wrong person right now.’ Richardson thought to himself.“I’m very certain that I do, sir.” The man responded, and Richardson instantly felt skeptical.“Why are you here to pick me up? I didn’t do a damn thing, you probably have the w
Richardson blurted the first thing that came to mind, while he racked his brains. He still wasn’t sure if he had indeed heard right. He had thought he was being taken to where he’d be killed or for something else that would be equally bad, and was still trying to wrap his head around what was currently playing out.But before Richardson could utter another word, the matured looking man whose healthy and gleaming grey hair was slicked back, moved forward and instantly engulfed Richardson in a hug.Richardson wasn’t sure if he had ever felt this confused and lost in his entire life like he was feeling right now. This man who was still hugging him, hadn’t obviously cared that Richardson was in the most disgusting clothes ever, compared to the designer suit he had on right now. “I’m sure you’re very hungry right now.” The man said after finally breaking out of the hug, right before Richardson attempted to say something.Richardson tried denying the fact that he was currently hungry, but
Richardson wasn’t sure of how to react to that statement, nor did he understand how he was supposed to make sense of this current situation. He took another long look at the matured looking man and shook his head to himself, there’s no way they’re both related in any way, he silently mused.“I- I don’t understand.” Richardson ended up breathing out after a few long moments has passed. The matured looking man shifted in his seat, and then he pulled his glasses off his nose and placed it on the table before him, and Richardson instantly noticed that the man couldn’t meet his face in that moment.“I’ll explain everything to you.” The matured looking man finally said, and Richardson nodded his head in response, while still feeling confused, but also curious.“You see… I have only one son, or at least I used to have one, until death snatched him from me so suddenly.” The man paused and Richardson leaned forward a little, while silently wondering what that had to do with him.“And while he
Once Richardson accompanied the matured looking man backInto his study, the next thing the man uttered, made Richardson stumble a little in shock, right before he slumped into his seat.“So… since you’re the only child of my son, it means you’re the heir to the Wilson’s empire.” Was the words which the matured looking man had said, which sent Richardson’s brains reeling. It wasn’t the first time he’d be hearing about the Wilson’s empire. From what he had been able to gather from social media, he knew the Wilson’s empire was large and very successful. He had gotten bullied in school, when he was younger – for sharing the last name of an empire and living a lifestyle that was the complete opposite of the empire itself. What was completely unbelievable to him, was how he had somehow turned out to be the heir of that same empire.“What?” Richardson whispered, still reeling in shock.“You’re the heir of the Wilson’s empire.” The man repeated himself, a little bit louder this time, and Ric
After Richardson signed the spot on the document with slightly shaky fingers, his grandfather shook his hand while beaming excitedly.“Congratulations, Richardson. You’re officially the owner of the empire now.”Richardson was speechless, but he found his voice after a fleeting moment which he used in thanking his grandfather. His grandfather waved him off with a low chuckle as he sauntered towards the area in his study where a bar was located to fetch a drink.“I think we should toast to this.” He said while pouring the drink which Richardson already knows would be nothing but the very best version. Richardson shook his head politely. “I think I’ve been through a lot today already, wouldn’t want to overwhelm my brain more.”His grandfather guffawed at that while downing a glass of the said drink. “You’re probably right. I must be in need of dire rest as it is.”Richardson watched as his grandfather picked up a telephone which was gold in color. He spoke to someone through the phone w
“Your grandfather had ordered that we visit one of the automotive companies beneath the empire, in order to pick some cars of your choice.”Tom said just as they existed the bank where Richardson had been treated like a president, with so much respect that almost overwhelmed him.“To pick some cars?” Richardson echoed after Tom as they got back into the Rolls Royce which was held open by the driver.“Yes, young master. It’s part of what you need now that you’re the owner of the empire.” Tom explained and Richardson nodded, while his head reeled. The car moved smoothly and Richardson comfortably settled against the spotless leather of the chairs in the car, allowing himself to relax. He kept twirling the black card around his fingers due to his excitement. It wasn’t long before the car slowed to a stop.Richardson stepped out of the car when it got pulled open for him respectfully, and he glanced up at the huge building looming before him. The large logo he could spot at one part of th
Right there, walking into the building together, was Alice and Michael, his girlfriend and best friend. They were both holding hands and plastered against each other. To say Richardson was shocked, would be an understatement.Richardson got to his feet just as his best friend and girlfriend noticed him, and began to walk in his direction.“Look who’s here right now.” Michael mused and Alice giggled like Michael had said the funniest thing ever. They both thoroughly looked him up and exchanged a glance, and Richardson silently cursed himself over, for not insisting on purchasing some clothes before coming here.“Isn’t this the clothes you were in before you were arrested?” Alice asked and Michael hummed.“Those are the clothes, Alice. Did you think he’d be able to afford a change of clothes?” Michael snickered and Alice tutted.“Absolutely not. He’s way too broke for that.”Their voices were starting to get loud. Richardson had initially planned to ignore them, but now that their voice
Richardson watched as Michael spluttered once again while the attendant tried to convince him to go for another model.“I have money to buy the car, if that’s what you’re wondering.” Michael exclaimed once again, making people throw glances at him.Alice was plastered to Michael’s side as expected. The red designer bag which Alice had talked about wanting for months, was currently hanging off her dainty wrist. It was obvious that Michael had gotten it for her. Richardson had been hoping to get that bag for her after his project turns out successful.Having had enough, Richardson cleared his throat and it didn’t take long for all eyes to turn towards him. His free hand was deep in his pocket, nudging his black card while waving the booklet a little. The attendant who had even forgotten about Richardson’s existence while attending to Michael and Alice, squinted his eyes at Richardson. “I knew you were not going to see a thing that your supposed budget can cover.” The attendant huffed
