ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN

Mr. Michael sat on the edge of his worn-out sofa, his head in his hands. He had spent most of the day pacing back and forth in his small, grungy home, his mind was filled with worry. He had always tried to keep his distance from Harvey and his business dealings, knowing full well the consequences of crossing a man like Harvey. Michael had made a conscious choice to stay out of trouble, to protect his family, even if it meant living on the streets and scraping by with what little they had.

But now, everything had changed. His son, Lewis, had gone against his warnings and gotten himself involved in something far more dangerous than Michael could have imagined. He had heard the rumors about Lewis’s involvement with Harvey’s project and the illegal activities that had followed. Now, Lewis was in deep trouble, and Michael was terrified that his son’s foolishness would bring disaster to their already struggling family.
