ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE

Peter stood outside the great Stephenson company building, his nerves jangling inside him like a dozen loose coins.

He took a deep breath, straightened his shoulders, and walked in. Today was the day he would ask Harvey for a job. He hadn't come for the sake of Mr. Micheal and Lewis but for his own sake. This was the best shot for him to get something better for himself.

As he entered the lobby, he spotted Harvey walking toward the elevators. “Mr. Stephenson!” Peter called out respectfully.

Harvey turned, and was a bit surprised to see him. “Peter, right?” he said, recognizing him from their previous meetings. “What brings you here today?”

Peter tried to keep his voice steady. “I was hoping I could speak with you, sir. If you have a moment.”

Harvey studied him for a second, then nodded. “Alright. Come with me to my office.” They walked together through the quiet halls of the company, employees nodding respectfully as Harvey passed. Peter couldn’t help but admire the sleek, modern
