Last respect

Evan picked a candle and lit it before the image in front of him. His eyes were desolate and lonely and it felt heartbreaking to look at them.

‘Thank you, old man, without you, I don't know where I would have been by now,,’ He bowed and placed the candle on the vase In front of the mirror.

He paid his last respects and then walked out of the room. Christel watched him for a while then placed her candle in the face and left the room too.

“Do you want to join us at the party? It's the last goodbye to Grandpa so all the families are here and I don't think they will like it if you don't show up,” She said then paused and continued, “After all, you are still my husband,”

Evan stopped in his tracks and slowly turned towards her with a cold expression on his face. Christel subconsciously moved back in fear and lowered her head in the process.

Evan gazed at her coldly but didn't say a word, instead, he stared at the necklace he gave to her then sighed heavily and left the place.
