“W-what?”Ezra's eyes widened in shock as her face went pale in fright. She glanced at Evan as her mind raced on what she was going to say next.

Evan on the other hand had a calm expression on his face as he studied her expressions, but on seeing that she was refusing to speak or continue the subject. He decided to ignore her.

“I won't be around for some days. Do make sure to get along with Vera,” Evan said as he turned his back on her and started to make his way upstairs.

After he had walked away, a heavy sigh escaped Ezra's lips as she stood there in silence, but one could still see the beards of sweets that formed on her forehead.

The faint click sound of the door being locked sounded in the calm and dimly lit room. Evan looked around and sighed lightly.
