Feeling the soul chilling cold coming from Ethan, even George was surprised.

   “Even my flames are afraid?!"

  More reason to eliminate him!

Seeing George having the guts to actually start contemplating when he was still standing q ball of rage unfurled in him.

“I said what did you just say!"

Snapping out of his thoughts,George’s mouth did an ‘oh’ before continuing.

“Well, you see,I'm someone who doesn't like having threats hanging around me. I am a king,an emperor! I can't have something I can't control running amok before me.”

“You Ethan are that uncontrollable variable!”

“But we've not even met before!"

“Am an emperor,do I need to know you before. The life of everyone is in my palm to do as I wish!"

Listening to George's rambling,Ethan couldn't help but grimace. This guy was already delusional! But he still had one question in him that was burning to be asked.

With shaking hands,Ethan opened his mouth, his entire body visibly shaking.

“Why did you kill them, they were innocent!"

Smirking,George looked at Ethan with a smile that was wnot a smile before saying.

"Nothing!"

  “What?!”

   Eyes widened,Ethan exclaimed.

“By nothing,I mean that I killed them just because I wanted to!"

The moment he heard that it was as if a hammer was dropped on his head. For a while he couldn't hear anything except for his own heartbeat.

Eventually he raised his head at George before asking.

“You killed them because you wished to.”

  “Correction,I wanted to!"

" Arrgh! I'm going to kill you!”

" Come on then!”

Making a grabbing motion a two and a half meter long flame jet extended out of George's palm. Soon it morphed into a a galant looking halberd with intricate fiery designs all over it's body.

Ethan on the other hand roared to the sky so loud that the eardrums of those nearby nearly shattered, the next moment his fingernails started to grow longer and sharper like claws.

His head also had two stumps protruding forward which actually grew on out to become two long, curly but sharp horns.

His entire body became slimmer yet while also becoming more agile. He did t know why but he felt that he would be much faster than previously.

   “Now!"

Without mincing words they both clashed once again, each aware of the fact that there could only be one survivours.

It was like there was an unspoken understanding between the two of them.

No need for words just fight!

  Swish!

Due to the new modifications that his monsterized body had received Ethan was able to actually move faster than before much to the surprise of George. Although it was just a few percent increase, that increase was substantial enough to be noticed.

   BANG!

SLASH!

STAB!

In just the first few seconds that the two of them had collided no less than twenty moves had been exchanged. And this twenty moves was enough to show who had the upperhand.

  BOOM!

   “What?,this is impossible!"

The two of them separated in samurai style, each appearing at the other's position, their backs facing each other.

Looking below at his stomach, George's mouth was wide open in disbelief as he gasped at the wound on his chest.

   “How…?”

Touching, the blood flowing from the wound he found it unbelievable. He has bleeding?

This wasn't supposed to be happening, his body in this flaming avatar ws so strong that he could bet that nothing could destroy it yet Ethan's claws were able to pierce him and cause he him to bleed!

  Outrageous!

One had to know that this was one of his top skills,he once used this skill to kill a gigantic beast monster without even as much as a sweat falling from his face.

 Yet….

Ethan on the other hand was also examining his wounds, the halberd George was using really ws powerful as it had caused some damage to the scales covering his body with some of them having cracked. However it was not that bad as they were already healing.

And that was not all,he wasn't even feeling the pain!

Maybe it was because becoming a monster dulled his pain receptors—if he still had those or it was another thing entirely,he wasn't able to feel any of the damage inflicted by George.

  “Kill, kill, kill!.”

Licking, the blood staining his claws,a mad grin formed on Ethan's face. He was losing himself and he knew it. The monsterization was already clouding is memory with the only thing he could hear being to kill and that was what he was going to do.

     BANG BANG BANG

Bursting into a sprint,he headed towards George. The force behind each of his steps was so huge that the already destroyed ground became more destroyed.

   “Fu*k, he's already coming?

Spotting the charging figure of Ethan,a trace of fear finally appeared on his face.

“Damn it,his scales are too tough causing ordinary weapons to be useless against him. What do I do!”

Bathing him in a sea of flames was an option, but then that would take time considering how thick his armour was.

After a while if thinking,a sharp glint flashed through George's eyes.”I guess I have to use that power then.”

Scanning around, his eyes soon found what he was looking for, however he didn't make it obvious. Next his body entered the active mode of the avatar state. With a speed boost in his legs, he zipped straight at Ethan while maintaining a very close distance to the ground.

When he was just ten or so meters away from Ethan, he suddenly rose up into the air before throwing the flaming spear in his hands.

  Swish!”

Lika a plane glidibg through the air,the siear smoothly parted the air in front of it before almost instantaneously appearinf in front of the charging Ethan.

  “Hick!”

Dodging ever so slightly Ethan gracefully dodged the weapon with an agility that belied his physique before turning to face George.

  “You misse–”

He however paused when he saw that George was smiling albeit weakly. Suddenly his senses tingled as if a deadly strike was about to hit him. He tried to leave the spot he was on but it was too late.

  SHICK!

The sound of scales and flesh being pierced sounded out in the now empty space.

Looking down at his his left chest,he could see a metal rebar that looked just like the one he was holding earlier protruding out if his chest. It was burning red hot, literally cooking his heart.

Raising his head with much difficulty,he gazed at George who had now descended with hatred in his eyes.

George however didn't mind and only smiled while raising a dagger he got from who knows where.

“I hope you have better luck in another life!"

  And then

STAB!

Darkness….

Inside an old looking house a young boy could be seen sitting alone in a dining table. The thing about the young boy though was that he looked like a young version of Ethan! He was obviously going to school considering how early it was and the way he was dressed. “Aren't you going to hurry up?! The bus is almost here!" " Almost done!” Gobbling down the last few spoons of cereal in his plate,he hurriedly wiped his mouth before grbbing his school bag hanging on the edge of the chair. “Bye mom.”“Take care of yourself son” SLAM!! Walking out of the door, the boy quickly made his way to the garage, there he unlocked his bicycle before riding it out of the garage. “Good morning Mr Jasper.” “Hey what's up kid?” “Hurry up so you aren't late to school!” Greetings like these and many more flew everywhere as the boy pedaled down the street. It was obvious at a glance that he must have been very popular in the community. The strange thing though was that all the peopl

Naturally, the group was none other than the Stinging Nettles! The additional individual was actually related to the situation at the supermarket earlier in the day. They were all surprised when they found out that there was actually a living, breathing human in the area. The street was a popular one before the apocalypse occured and thus the density of monsters there was sky high. Though they had reduced a lot,it was still no place to find a human staying casually. Even if you strapped a greanade to their heads, they would refuse to believe that a human could be found there, but somehow there was! With a face that was clearly immature,it wasn't hard to guess that he was a teenager at best. Standing on an observation bunker was General Lebronsky, who was previously serving in the capital military force. He was currently the leader of this military stronghold after the last general had died. Taking the military grade binoculars,a grim expression could be seen on his face. “Something feels wrong somewhere.” Watching the ongoing battle, he couldn't help but have this ominous feeling that something wasn't right. Yes,they were easily pushing them back. In fact this was not the first time, they and these monsters had collided in the last two months. They had battled soml many times he couldn't even count anymore. But that was the problem,he couldn't count anymore. At first the

Hearing what the doctor said, the previous happiness on the general's face disappeared.Last month before the communication satellites all around the world stopped functioning, the main military base in the capital gave a hastily compiled guide book about the apocalypse among which was a catalogue to identify monsters. It consisted of a variety of classifications that listed all the kinds of monsters and how strong they were. Although it was somehow outdated due to how fast new monsters were popping up some things still remained the same. The rankings of monsters was among those things that didn't change. Generally, monsters were ranked in five levels starting from the bottom they were as follows:rogue, soldier, commander, general and the Xenogenic Alpha. The rogue was the lowest level of monsters that you could find while the Xenogenic alpha's were the top tier monsters although their kind were very very rare to spot. Generally monsters were dumb especially those at the lowest tie

Aything that stood in their way was mercilessly crushed with fail thanks to the specialodifications of their vehickes. Approaching a road branch they all left the express highway each taking sharp turns into the rocky dirt road bleeding out of the highway. They drove for a while before approaching a moat causing them to all grind to a halt. The moat was probably constructed just a few weeks ago as there were still signs of fresh soil scattered around. Behind the moat was a huge structure which was fenced by logs. At a glance, just the height of this fence was more than twenty meteres! It simply reminded one of those castles of medieval times. Giving a signal of sorts, the mechanisms of the gate started making moving noises before starting to slowly lower itself down.CreakCreak Bang Touching the other side of the koat, the three waiting vehicles didn't waste a second as they rushe

Heck, that if that door wasn't made from metal it'll probably have been turned into a wreck by now. Glancing around the wooden room,Ethan clicked his tongue as he thought of how spacious the place was. Well that was inevitable if you considered the fact that this whole place was a military base. Ex-military base to be precise! It was one of those military training facilities from the cold war that was abandoned after the war ended. It was supposed to have been deconstructed or something since the military rarely left it's property lying around. However, the contractor that was given the demolishing project didn't even do it and coupled with how deep in the forest the facility was no one even knew until the apocalypse struck and Tyson and Thomas along with other people fleeing from monster's found it and turned it into a s

The rays of the sun had just started peeking out of their covers while the dark was being chased away. The skies were still purplish an indication of how early it was. Before the apocalypse, early no mornings like these were usually the most hectic time of the day. From taking your bath to grabbing a bite to the early morning rush hour,it was undeniable that mornings were the most fast paced time of the day. Then came the apocalypse and everything changed. All the early morning rushing that characterised people's lives became pretty useless. There was no school, work or function to rush to unless you wanted to rush into a monsters mouth that is. Thus most mornings for the survivours was usually a matter of finding something to eat while trying to avoid getting into the sight of a monster. But not for the Raisin camp!As soon as the first streaks of purple broke through the skies the camp was already alive. Everyone was already up and running with the camp bustling with activitie

Inside the drivers compartment of each of the vehicles General Lebronsky's voice could be heard causing every car to come to a stop. “Fall into formation now!" Giving the next order, the soldiers in each of the trucks quickly rushed out of the vehicles before falling into neat formations. Clearly they had practiced this for a while now. Walking out of the military jeep that he was in , General Lebronsky along with the other powermasters from the volunteering camps made their way over. “Men…were here. Afternoon. The time of the day when the sun was at its peak. Due to the special geography of Barnes city and it's environs it received a lot of sun daily. The highest temperature recorded in the day had once reached a staggering 41 degrees Celsius! While today's temperature wasn't that high it was still hot enough to cause one to sweat bullets. With how hot everywhere was the best thing to do right now would be to sleep and that was what the sentrys of the AADAF base were currently doing. While you might accuse them of slacking off on duty they couldn't really be blamed. Furthermore, the probably wouldn't have anything to do since the monsters that were supposed to attack them would be busy battling the Hellstrike expedition force so they really wouldn't have much to do. The strike force had left the camp over two hours ago and by now they should just be approaching the mountain range, the battle that would decide if humans could continue settling around this area would soon begi

Countless personnel were on ground to direct and coordinate the activities currently ongoing. WOOSH, WOOSH, WOOSH! Over a dozen armoured vans wheezed by as they drove towards a mini parking lot where they halted while military grade trucks reversed so that the ammunitions and supplies could be placed in them. Operation Hellstrike commenced today! Well technically not today as it had started ever since General Lebronsky first tabled the idea. However,in a sense it was still right as this was the first time that something tangible would be done. Previously the only thing being done was just preparations, today was the day that they would really advance to put the operation in motion. “Today finally came!" Standing at the edge of the window of the finally completed command center general Lebronsky muttered under his breath as he watched the proceedings bel

On the highway leading out of Barnes city,a truck could be seen rushing past the buildings . There was a black motorcycle in the back while four people consisting of three men and a lady sat surrounding it. Inside the truck there were two men,one driving while the other was well not really doing anything bringing the total to six. Suddenly from one of the abandoned houses on the side of the road a tiger like monster suddenly jumped out with the intention of ambushing the truck. However, before it could even step on the asphalt, there was a bang and it fell on the spot having received a bullet to the head. Blowing the smoke off the tip of the gun,the shooter proceeded to place the weapon by his side while watching the number faces of his co travellers. As you might have guessed, the group was none other than Ethan and the five man group from earlier in the day. They were currently travelling together to the AADAF central base. He really was lucky. After removing the key from the ignition and ensuring that everything was set,he started to make his way into the store but not before grabbing his weapons. Pushing the double glass doors open,he entered with utmost caution while gripping the saber with both hands, the sniper rifle on his back. Today was the fourth day since it had last eaten and right now it was not an exaggeration to say that it could eat anything. While it could go out hunting,it dared not to as most of the monsters out there were stronger than it. It was just a rogue tier, venturing near them would be just like offering itself up for dinner! Thus it had devised this method of lying in wait by the roadside just to ambush it's unknowing prey and it was working out pretty fine as it git more food to eat. Honestly speaking,Thomas felt that he wasn't supposed to ask this question. In fact he shouldn't have asked if he was being logical here. However as the leader of the Raisin camp now he just had to. He had to be selfish for the lives of the over two hundred people that was at stake if he didn't. Looking at their faces he could see the hesitation and reluctance causing him to feel like this was a lost cause. He couldn't blame them though as their fears were pretty understandable. They had just fought with a commander tier monster and it totally wrecked them. Going up a against a Xenogenic Alpha tier monster two tiers higher?,that would just be like serving up their lives on a platter! They had visited the borders of death once and they weren't ready to visit it anytime soon. I guess I'll just tell the general that we'll not be joining the raid. Brother I tried but……sigh. The first thing that entered his eyes was the huge circular metal table situated at the centre of the room. Seated around this table were the members of the Stinging nettles though they were visibly missing two members. The next thing was how bright the room was and the fact that there were some communication equipment there. In fact there was a wall mounted screen that was showing a 3D map of sorts directly opposite him. It was like this place was never cut off from the grid. How was that possible?! Since day one of the apocalypse power had been totally cut off with all electrical appliances and gadgets turning useless. Plus this place was on the outskirts of Barnes city,in an abandoned military training base!Even if there was electricity here previously, there shouldn't be any here now. This however, further affirmed his belief that what was about to be said in this room would definitely be weighty. It might truly affect the continued existence of the Raisin camp!
