Chapter 52. The Prying stranger

Zachary flushed in embarrassment. He turned his face away to prevent Maraya from seeing the red color burning on his cheek. He could not get himself to look at Maraya because of that. This was one of the most awkward moments of his life as he never saw that question coming. Did she just say that to him after feigning unconcerned?

"Well… Uhmm." Zachary was lost for the right words to explain himself with. "Actually, it's not what you think." Zachary defended himself and Maraya threw him a glaring face.

"What do you think that I think?" Maraya was not backing down which made Zachary feel uneasy. He adjusted in his seat and tried to loosen his tie which he assumed was the cause of his discomfort. Zachary scratched the back of his head with the left hand and drew invisible traces of lines on the table with the other hand.

Was he blushing because of Maraya's question or because he was indeed in love with Mirabel?
