When Eddie woke up, he was nude. He was passed out in a random part of grass, a cornfield to his left. He heard mooing, and saw a field of cows, watching him disinterested.

He rubbed the front part of his head and winced. Where exactly was he?

He panicked when he saw blood covered all over his torso, wiping it off from his mouth. As he lifted up his hand, he froze when he saw someone stuck to it.

It looked vaguely like Lucas’s shirt that he had on last night, but that would mean…

In a flurry of panic, Eddi jumped up, looking all around. His body was tensed as he listened, but besides the animal life around him, and his own heart beating, he couldn’t hear anyone else.

But he wasn’t going to give up that easy; Eddie ran, ignoring the fact that he was basically nude, his breathing even as he continued to run, and making sure he checked every tree, he could find nothing. Eddie could feel the tears wanting to run down his face. He was a fucking idiot for not listening to Alicia, and because of his stubbornness, Lucas was possibly dead.

Eddie stopped running then, leaning into a ditch and vomiting the contents of his stomach. His body heaved, and his throat burned, the tears in his eyes stinging.

He had possibly eaten a human.

Eddie could feel the grief and shock take over as he fell on his knees in the grass, staring at nothing for a long time.

What snapped him out of it though was an annoying honking noise that slowly pulled him back to reality. A woman that looked familiar walked towards him wearing a long sleeveless black dress, and shiny flats. Her mouth moved but Eddie couldn't tell what she was saying. She opened the passenger of her sleek black car, and pulled out two towels, wiping his face with one of them, and then using the other one for him to cover with.

Eddie didn't move much, nor did it register what she was doing, but when she tried to wrap the towel around his waist, he snapped out of it, lunging at her, and pinning her to the ground. She screamed in surprise, dropping the towel, as she held up her hands defenseless.

"What the fuck did you do to me, you fucking bruja!" He roared in her face, shaking her by the shoulders. Alicia kept trying to pull away, at one point kicking Eddie in the shins.

The pain didn't register however, and he glared down at her, waiting.

"I didn't do anything! I came here to help you!" she replied, sitting up as Eddie leaned away from her. As he had come back to his senses, Eddie snatched the towel off the ground, wrapping it firmly around his waist.

"But I do know who did this to you, and I'm here to take you to him." she said softly, almost afraid of his response.

Eddie was quiet for a long time, but then he held up his hand to help her up. He thought about Lucas, and pushed the thought in the back of his mind.

If Lucas was really gone...that was on Eddie.

Alicia would not shut up. She tried to pull him in conversation about her boss, the man who apparently saw potential in Eddie. It was quite creepy the way she described it; apparently her boss had been aware of Eddie since he moved into town a little bit of a year ago. But it's when Eddie started the underground fights that Eddie had really caught the attention of the mystery man. Eddie wanted to hit himself; he had try his darndest to stay out of the limelight, and in the end, it turned out to be all for naught.

At one point, when Alicia was turning into a different street, Eddie could feel his patience wearing thin, and he turned to stare at her.

"*I might have killed a man, can you please just shut the fuck up?!*

That shut her up real quick, and the rest of the drive was made in silence. Now and then though, she would turn to look at Eddie as if she wanted to say something, but then close her mouth, with an audible click in her teeth.

"Where are we going?" Eddie asked gruffly, leaning back in the seat.

"My boss lives in Sacramento, and you need answers. The only way you can get them is if we head out in that direction." she replied, and Eddie nodded, feeling his eyes shut.

Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, exhaustion clung to him, and he could feel himself nodding off. He laid on the seat, finally letting himself rest a  bit before he could feel the car turn, and then stop. As he struggled to open his eyes, he realized they were both in a parking lot, and he glanced at Alicia, who was grabbing her purse.

"What? I can't let you see my boss while you're naked." she said, and Eddie nodded, trying to clear his throat from sleep. She stepped out, leaving the car on, and Eddie sighed, staring at the ceiling.

It hit him that he had done something awful to someone he knew was so well. He was supposed to teach Lucas how to fight and instead he was caught up in this whole mess. Eddie scrubbed his face, as he felt tears threatening to spill.

This was the most worst time of his life, and he had no one to blame except himself.

As his thoughts began to drift off, a sudden chill made him look up. He felt like he was being watched, and when he turned to the side, he saw someone wearing sunglasses stare at him.

Alarm bells went off, and he realized that he was probably going to be in trouble, if he didn't try to defend himself, something bad was going to happen to him.

A throaty growl escaped him, and this caught their attention as the pack began to form close to one another.

This wasn't looking good for Eddie, and he was getting ready to step out of the car, and try to take them on, when the driver's side door opened, breaking the spell that had come over him.

Alicia sat in the seat, dumping a bag that had clothes on it in Eddie's lap.

When Eddie turned his attention again to the group, however, they were all gone.

Alicia was displeased as Eddie told her what had happened. She had worry lines on her forehead and kept looking at the rearview mirror. Eddie had the sense that she was making sure they weren't being followed, which made Eddie go on edge.

"Who were they?" he asked, breaking  the silence.

Alicia was silent for a long time, and she sighed. "There is a rival pack that's been going against my boss for years. And I think you just met them, Eddie."

Eddie shook his head, scrubbing his jaw as stressed weighed in on him. He opened the bag, pulling on the plain blue t-shirt, and then slipping on the underwear underneath the towel without takign it off.

Alicia seemed too busy driving to really notice him, and when Eddie pulled on the pants, he stared at his bare feet.

"I forgot the shoes!" Alicia exclaimed, and Eddie waved her off.

"It's fine, I'll live." he said instead, and then Alicia sighed again, turning into a main road where a welcome sign was presented. Eddie read it, realizing that they had just entered into Sacramento, and he could feel his heart beat a little faster.

Eddie was either going to get answers or avenge Lucas. Because he didn't deserve that, and Eddie didn't deserve what was happening to him.

Alicia turned a street, where the houses were getting bigger, and bigger, and just as Eddie thought they couldn't get big enough, Alicia turned into a driveway where the house looked like it was five stories tall, the roof made of brick, and the building made of brick as well. Glass windows were covered by dark red curtains, and Eddie whistled, amazed at the sight.

He froze as the front door opened, and he saw two men, and one he didn't. Taking a sharp breath, Eddie felt the man turn around, a surprise look on his face.

He remembered him as well.

It was none other than Terry.

They were nice, and Eddie tested them out, running a little, and then hopping in them. Super light, and easy to move in, he noted, pulling the luggage behind him. There was an RV already in the front of the house, and Alicia was watching from the doorway, the others already packing their stuff in there. Eddie would admit that being alpha was strange; he had already made his first command, and no one was challenging him over it, or trying to talk him out of it.
