Eddie doesn't know why he's still here.
Really he should be at home, tending to his Abuelita, his job, hell, his friend.
But he is here in front of the mansion, ready to prove to his newly aquired pack that he has what it takes to be the alpha.
Maybe the reason why was because he was trying hard not to face reality just yet. The reality that he was a murderer, and he was the reason Lucas was missing. These thoughts wore on him, not so much on him, but for the loss of Lucas.
He was only eighteen, he thought to himself, as he raised his fists. David and Brayden stood straight on the other side of him, in the makeshift ring, Addie and Tric staring on as they continued to drink their orange juice, discussing quietly about something.
But Eddie couldn't get himself distracted; he had two opponents to take care of.
They stood there for what felt like hours, Brayden standing there relaxed, whereas David matched Eddie's stance.
And then they took off.
They were fast, taking turns to punch Eddie. They had a sort of system, one blocking and the other punching. It was like a sort of strange dance, and Eddie basically had to keep eyes on both of them, as they forced him back.
This was getting a little too intense for his liking, and Eddie rammed his elbow into David's ribs, causing David to fall back, trying regain his breathing.
Eddie wasted no time, grabbing Brayden by the back of his neck, and bringing up his knee to his face.
Brayden's nose connected, blood gushing out, and he fell backwards onto the grass.
Catching his breath, Eddie ducked out of the way, as all of a sudden he felt a strange source of danger screaming at his open back.
David snarled, having turned into his wolf form, a giant horse sized black wolf with brown on his tail, golden eyes flashing as he tried to take a chunk out of Eddie.
Enough was enough.
Eddie felt the anger wash over him like a tide, leaving Brayden who was still cradling his broken nose, and he could see everything in perfect vision.
The need to defend was so strong, the pull of the wolf even stronger. He couldn't ignore it this time, so he didn't, listening as his clothes ripped, and his own wolf emerged out, charging at David.
David hadn't been expecting this, hadn't known how use to the wolf Eddie already was. They collided, a flurry of fur, and teeth, snapping and growling, and snarling at each other.
And then it happened; Eddie saw the opening and took it, grabbing David by the side of his neck, and slamming him into the ground, forcing him down. David struggled, but Eddie applied more pressure, nearly cutting off his air supply.
After a few seconds of this, David yielded, stopping his movements, and huffed annoyed. Eddie kept him like that though, and then eventually let go, taking some steps back.
Brayden was now standing with the girls, grinning, blood dried under his nose. He seemed unbothered by it, and Eddie shook his head, trying to expel the tension in his body. David got up slowly, shaking his head as well, and he stared at Eddie, before bowing a bit.
A quiet gasp was heard, and Eddie finally stood tall, letting out a howl. David joined in, and soon, so did Brayden, the girls joinging in after.
A crescendo of howls coming from both wolves, and humans.
Later, after Addie offered Eddie, and David towels since their clothes were shredded, they headed back inside the house, splitting into their own directions.
Eddie had proven himself, and the tension that was once in the pack had shifted, turning into one of acceptance. He was still wary of David, but the rest he felt like he no longer had to keep his guard up.
He made it to his room, when he stopped, noting that the door had been fixed.
And then he remembered how Alicia had scolded David, and the smile that spread his face at that memory was sincere.
As he opened the door, Alicia fell into a step beside him.
"I heard about the test. I knew you had it in you." she said, and though Eddie did feel awkward that she was praising him while he was in a towel, he did appreciate it.
"Gather the others in two hours, Alicia. I have an announcement." was what he replied with. Alicia nodded, walking past him, and disappearing around the corner.
Eddie stepped into his room, and locked the door behind him, heading to the shower. He felt sweaty and grimey, and he felt that it was well deserved.
On the dot, Eddie walked back out his room, freshly washed and wearing new clothing. He had cut his hair, and it curled in damp strands.
The others sat in the living, curious as to what Eddie had to say, Brayden's nose taped, his eyes a bit swollen.
"Sorry about that." Eddie offered, but Brayden waved his apology away, unbothered.
"So, I've called you all here because I'm going to have to go back home. And since you come with the responsibility of being the leader, you all have to come with me."
There is silence, as the others shares glances, not speaking.
It's Brayden who steps up though, his hands slapping against his sides.
"I'll go pack then." he says, his nose sounding stuffed.
The others nod, and begin to step back into their rooms.
That was...much easier than he thought it would be. Alicia step from the hallwaym and at this point, Eddie was starting to wonder if she was a ghost. Though she wore heels, they made no sound as she stepped forward, her eyes on Eddie.
"Do you wish for me to go as well?" she asked, and Eddie shook his head.
"Though I have to go home, I do want you to look after the estate, and keep things running. Isan has placed his money into my bank account, but I left a huge sum in yours Alicia. I want to keep this house for emergencies." he replied, and Alicia nodded.
Eddie didn't need to finish the sentence that he felt like he would need this place.
There were some more challenges he had to face, but at least he wasn't going in on it alone. He had his pack, and he had his family.
He knew deep down that trouble was brewing. It was only a matter of time before his choices exploded in his face.
Eddie is in his room, taking care of packing his things away. He takes one glance over at the room, making sure that he has everything he needs. None of this stuff is his; it is, and isn't. All the new clothes were gifted by Isan, and Alicia even pulled out some shoes that she had picked out when she went to the mall. They were nice, and Eddie tested them out, running a little, and then hopping in them. Super light, and easy to move in, he noted, pulling the luggage behind him. There was an RV already in the front of the house, and Alicia was watching from the doorway, the others already packing their stuff in there. Eddie would admit that being alpha was strange; he had already made his first command, and no one was challenging him over it, or trying to talk him out of it. They simply did what they were told, and Eddie honestly had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it was nice that his choices and say were final, and there wasn't anything really left t
The moment the tires of the RV crossed into town, Eddie felt something prickle under his skin. Faint alarm bells went off in his head, and they got stronger as they made way to their new home. Beside hime, Addie had stopped talking, noticing the way he had stiffened. "Is something the matter?" she asked, which brought Brayden's attention. David, who had traded places with Brayden driving the RV, looked up as well. Only Tric said nothing, as she turned on her side, and slept, the blankets up to her ears. "It's probably nothing." Eddie tried to assure, but there was something there. Something he couldn't pinpoint, and if he was in his wolf form, his hairs would be standing on end. David hit the brakes then, causing everyone to lurch forward, and Tric fell off the bed, swearing as she landed on her back. "What the fuck David?" Tric yelled, rubbing the back of her head, as she got up. "We have a problem." David said in a tight voice, and Eddie got up then,
The swelling has gone down in Eddie's jaw, and they have settled into their new home in the countryside. Eddie will go over to his Abuelita's in the morning, but for now, he mopes about the cheap shot that Joseph took. Him, and his pack disappeared once they saw that Eddie was on the ground. And though the hit hurt, Eddie was more stunned at seeing Lucas alive. Stunned and relieved. After talking it over with his pack, Eddie concluded that the blood found on his clothes was in fact the blood of a deer. "Werewolves don't usually eat humans. I mean if you shift too close to them the first time, damage will be caused but to eat them? Not likely." Tric had said, as she bounded down the stairs, David in front. Eddie stared after her, not noticing the couch dip as Addie sat next to him. "Are you okay Eddie?" Addie asked, and Eddie dropped the ice pack he was using for the swelling on his face. "Don't really know how to feel. I mean, Lucas is alive but he's w
Eddie slipped back into town, telling his pack to stay back to better get familiar with the new town they were staying at.They seemed reluctant but agreed to his orders and watched him leave. To be honest, Eddie didn't want the other pack to feel threatened by bringing his whole pack. And all he wanted to do was see his Abuelita.Eddie still sent over money to her accounts, and when she had called him and asked how he was getting the money, Eddie had lied and said he was back to doing odd jobs.Abuelita had accepted this answer, saying to praise God for the blessings. Eddie nodded, ensuring that he was placing a good chunk of his estate into his Abuelita's savings. He had borrowed a car, a simple black one that didn't really catch too much attention, and slipped inside, starting it.Once on the road, he sped off in the familiar path to his home, noticing that most of the people weren't out on the yards nor sidewalks. The town seemed emptier, and he couldn't see anyone running around
Litzy went into the kitchen, and began to cook, the smell of bacon, and then onions drifting through the air. Eddie could feel his stomach rumble with hunger, but he decided to stay back. Abuelita began to tell Eddie everything that had happened since he up and disappeared three weeks ago. How these new cholos had seem more different, and animal like. Senora Lorena had even placed a rosary out, and said her prayers to them. They had laughed, but Abuelita explained that the only reason that had been done was because of how non-humans they were. Surely, there was something paranormal about them, demons or diablos pretending to be humans. Eddie didn't want to brush her worries off-she was spot on, but also he felt like revealing their true nature was a breach of something. He held his grandmother's hands, trying to comfort her. There was a knock then, and everyone froze, before a clatter was heard in the kitchen. Litzy strode over again with the shotgun, loading it
They pile on Eddie, Joseph running inside the house. Gunshots fire out, and Eddie can feel himself losing control of his human side, as his wolf struggles to be freed. He snarls, and howls, knowing that they will hear him crying out. The girl smashes her fist in his stomach, cutting off the howl, and sending him to the ground. The breath leaves his body for a moment, and he stumbles downward. Another one jumps on his back, claws digging into his side, and he feels a sense of warmth dripping down his sides. The smell of his own blood catches his attention, and it was with that the change took over. The others flew off of him, as Eddie let out a furious howl, shifting into his wolf form, fangs flashing. Suddenly, Eddie's pack charged in, snarling and howling. They crowded the front of Eddie's grandmother house, tearing up the grass and flowers of it. Shots are heard from inside of the house, and Joseph dives out, landing on the ground. He whistles, causing his pack to growl, but t
Eddie wants to rip apart Joseph piece by piece. And his pack must sense it, because they crowd around him, giving him warning growls. He doesn't care, his own pack brushing up in front of him. The tension and anger is making Eddie's fur stand on end, and he tries to dispel it by shaking his head. It doesn't help; this was a choice that Lucas more than likely got talked into. Although he was eighteen, there's no way he would have chosen a life like this. Even with the estates, and money, Eddie still yearned for his life. And now his friend was a werewolf for his rival pack. Eddie could feel his body trying to talk to Lucas or Joseph, but since Lucas was connected to a different pack, he couldn't say the words he wanted to say. "Look, Eddie, I tried to civil. Didn't spring anything on you, and I gave you many options to leave. And you ignored all of them." Joseph said, inspecting his nails. "Nothing more will happen if you'll just leave and never come back. I'll
Eddie is sitting in his room, hands in his hair. Now that everyone had gone out for food, and Alicia had gone out to Sacremento to get his grandmother and cousin settled in, he was very tired. Eddie felt drained, and his life got even more complicated now that he and Alicia were "married." He was curious about what had happened before her life, and he was going to ask her as soon as she got back. Then his thoughts went to Lucas and how he was now a part of Joseph's pack. This was the worst outcome that could have happened, and Eddie really needed a drink or a smoke. Getting up, he decided to head over to the local bar, where it was just on the other side of town, away from Joseph's claim. He didn't have the energy to stop fighting if problems arose; if joseph managed to find him, and decided to toy with him again, he wasn't going to stop until Joseph was dead. He placed on his shoes, walking outside as a summer breeze hit him. Eddie looked up at the sky, wher
The only reason why Eddie woke up was because he felt someone looking at him. He thought it was Alicia until he felt a slap against his face. Surprised, his eyes flew open, and there was Lucas, a strange look of fury and desperation on his face. "Wake up, motherfucker." he said though gritted teeth. "What-Lucas, what the hell are you doing here?" Eddie said, sitting up as Alicia woke up too, her expression confused, then guarded. "Who are you? How'd you get in here?" Alicia asked, and Lucas wasted no time to pressing a blade against her throat. Alicia cried out, a crazed look in Lucas's eyes. "Don't say nothing, skank, and you won't get hurt." he threatened, Alicia's eyes going dark as she looked at him. Eddie held on to her elbow, shaking his head, then turning his head to Lucas. "What do you want now? Did your alpha send you here?" he asked, and Lucas scoffed, sounding a bit unhinged. "That asshole doesn't give a shit about me. I
Eddie didn't know how far Alicia wanted to go. On one hand, she was touching his bare chest, and scars everywhere, hungrily kissing his lips. On the other hand, she didn't move to lay down on the bed or anything. In fact, she was leaning into him so much, he was pretty sure she wanted him on the bed. Eddie laid on his back, and she clamored on top of him, gripping his shoulders tightly. Suddenly, her shirt came off, a lacy purple bra staring back at Eddie. "Eddie." she breathed, before leaning down, and grabbing his face, and kissing his lips with full force, his hands on her ass as he tried to slide her- "What the fuck?!" a voice cried out, freezing both of them in place. They both turn to see Tric standing shocked in front of the doorway, wearing her hair up in a bun, eyes wide. She wears her pajamas, and is looking from Alicia to Eddie, in astonishment. A hand grabs Tric by her shoulder, pulling her away from the door, and Eddie can hear Addie whi
