Bryden’s face turned pale, his composure slipping for a split second before he regained it. “That’s... terrible. I hope they catch those bastards soon.”

Aiden leaned in slightly, his eyes fixed on Bryden’s reaction. “Oh, they will. And when they do, I can’t wait to teach them a lesson myself before handing them over to the cops.”

Bryden forced a weak laugh. “Yeah, I hope you do. I’m just glad Silvana is back.”

“Me too,” Aiden said, his gaze sharp. “By the way, what happened to your hand earlier? You seemed like you had a fresh wound there.”

Bryden shook his head, feigning nonchalance. “It’s nothing. The collision was just unexpected, that’s all. My arm’s fine.”

Aiden’s eyes bore into Bryden’s. “You sure? I heard Daniel was kidnapped and someone wanted him dead. During the rescue, the cops shot at the perpetrator. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?”
