One hundred and thirteen: Visiting the birch trees

As fast as it came, the frown dissipated and took the shape of a smile. And even almost like it was never there, he continued eating with the same jolliness as before.

At first. It came to Ivan to let it slide but he wanted to be a little certain he could still trust Trevor. So he went ahead and asked the question. "Do you miss your family?"

Trevor's hand froze in mid air and the egg on his fork fell back into the plate as his hand slightly twitched. His eyes met with Ivan's watchful gaze and he managed a smile. "Nothing can ever get past you huh?" He asked knowing fully that Ivan had spotted his second of sadness.

Ivan only smirked in response.

Trevor dropped his fork down into his plate and reached for his cup of coffee. Taking a sip, he returned it back to the table a few inches away from where it stood before and a sigh escaped his mouth.

"It's not what you're thinking. I mean sure, who wouldn't miss their own family? But the reason for my sadness isn't because I miss them."
