The atmosphere was warm and comforting as a heater radiated enough warmth to spread all about the place.

The walls stood strong and protective, keeping out every form of noise or disturbance from getting to the inside and it too contributed to the spreading of warmth.

A small electric kettle in black and silver sat on the ground with its tail plugged out of the socket and like a rooftop of a chimney, smoke left the open mouth and spread into the air.

Ivan could remember clearly what the doctor had told him about a kettle of hot water being prepared and there was something else, something about a cabinet.

A brown smooth wood cabinet hung from the wall and stretched forward into the room. Directly under it was a cabinet set like a table as well and Ivan walke

A gust of wind from the open window blew past the curtain and directly at Ivan's bed causing him to shiver. He threw his blanket over his body properly and snuggled into his bed. He let out a tired yawn as he tossed around in bed then sat up straight. His eyes turned to the small box displaying the time and noticed that it was well after seven. “Huh? But how? What happened to the alarm?” He asked himself as he stared confusedly at the alarm clock. Without wasting any more time, he sprung out of bed and rushed outside his room. As he got to the living room, he noticed his aunt sitting at the dining table at a corner of the room with Alfred. They were both having breakfast together. He walked up to them and took his seat. “Good morning.” “Morning young master.”“Morning hun.” Both Alfred and Ms. Wayne replied at the same time. “Would you care for some toast?” Alfred asked his young master. “Would you mind explaining to me what happened to my alarm clock?” Ivan's brow arched as he

Mr and Mrs Banks had been calling her nonstop about updates on their daughter and she had been calling Ms. Wayne about updates as well.As much as she wanted to be in the hospital at that moment, she had to wait behind for Mr and Mrs Banks to arrive so they would all go to the hospital at the same time. “Drugs…” she muttered to herself with no one but the silence in the room to listen to her. Janet wasn't on any drugs that she knew about and she also trusted that if she were taking a secret dose, she would have told her of all people about it.But would she? • The hidden heir of Wayne   One sixty eight: Guilty conscience

The atmosphere in the hospital hallway seemed to be choking except for Ivan who was more than calm. Rather filled with disappointment. Having the fact that the woman was doing drugs on her own free will– or so he thought– he felt disappointed that he was worried all night for someone like her and he hated the fact that he blamed himself also. “Tell us doctor, is it some kind of dangerous pill? Hard drugs perhaps?” Ms. Wayne asked with wide open eyes. The Doctor heaved a rather weary and heavy sigh. His eyes trailed back to the image on the screen of the phone and he let his mind access them for one more time as if he wished they were something else from their original version. He finally opened his mouth and started explaining. “Well… yes, unfortunately… it is a kind of hard drug, they both are– but most people don't know that!” He stated firmly as if to take sides with Janet. Ivan groaned softly. “Doc, of course the person ingesting the drug must have known what they are from th

Ivan wished he could close his ears as well. All he wanted to hear was nothing to process his thoughts in silence but just then, his phone began to vibrate in his pocket. He opened his eyes with a sigh and took it out. It was Trevor calling. His eyes trailed from the phone to the doctor who already got the message to excuse himself. He planted a hand on Ivan's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. “You have done nothing wrong so you have no reason to hate yourself.” How could he tell the doctor that he did? Apart from ignoring her symptoms, he tagged her a drug abuser and for a moment didn't care about whatever happened to her. He only responded with a weak smile. “I can tell already that she is a strong woman and a good fighter. Nothing will happen to her once we have faith. Don't brood for too long, it will ruin your handsome face.” The doctor's lips formed into a weak smile as he spoke. He then turned around to leave and Ivan answered his call. “Hello?” The tone of Trevor's

A soft sigh left Ivan's mouth though not to the notice of Charlie. Slowly, his eyes traveled to the figure that was standing next to Charlie and a sad sigh let his mouth, one he bothered not to hide. There was an emptiness in Tara's gaze where she stood as she eyed Ivan up and down without saying a word. Ivan remembered– though he hated it now– that there was a time when getting to catch a glimpse of her beautiful face was more than enough to bring him happiness but now…. Just looking at her made him feel angry but there was something else he was feeling for her. What was it? Empathy? Why was he feeling that way for her? His deep blue eyes bore into her and almost as if he was a seer, he could see how sad of a future she had drawn for herself. But now was not the time to be thinking about that. Now, his main focus was to escape from Charlie without wasting any time. Charlie looked behind Ivan at the men in suits who were watching him rather too closely that it made him feel unco

The air seemed to cease for more than a minute. Tara stared back with a fierce gaze at all of them who were now staring at her. None of them had expected her to express herself so openly, especially since Charlie was standing right there. But she cared less about what they thought, after all, her very own boyfriend didn't even care enough to respect her presence before talking about being with another woman. “Do you have something to say?” Charlie’s brow arched as he asked her. Tara wanted to speak but bit back on her tongue and cursed herself in her mind for being such a coward. Normally, she was always a coward in front of Charlie out of the fear of what he might do to punish her but she hated the fact that she had to be a coward while Ivan was standing there and watching her quietly. He had known her as a fierce girl who always spoke her mind no matter the consequences and that was because that was the kind of girl she always was. But ever since she drove into the devil's tr

Heather stood there, stunned, just as every other woman standing in the room. She was sure she had never heard London laugh before. She hadn't even seen the girl smile ever since she was brought to the shelter. Janet hadn't expected less though. Living with Ivan for over five years, she knew the kind of soul he was and she trusted that whatever he put his mind to, he was sure to achieve it. She couldn't have been more proud of him.
