Everyone at the hospital has entered panic mode because of the sudden outburst of the virus and we need everyone present to help treat our patients." One of her colleagues explained to her."I don't have any virus, you could have just said you needed help at the hospital and I would have rushed over." Jennie said as she wiped off the drop of warm tear that escaped her eyes and rolled down her face. "No, Jennie, we need to test you first." "No! I said I don't have that deadly virus! I am positive that I don't have such a virus! What makes you come up with such speculations?! Huh?! Because I came down with a simple cold huh? I--" Jennie winced from the pain of a needle piercing through her skin. "What... What did you..." She looked b

The hidden heir of Wayne Eighty-two: First day at school
"Why does my own school feel so unfamiliar?"There were a lot of things that had changed which fascinated Ivan. As he walked down the used to be familiar path that led to his school, he noticed a few things like some new shops and buildings. He stopped and stared at the building that was once a café that served one of the best coffee. It was now a bookstore and nothing more. He wondered if it was owned by the same person or if a different person entirely had bought the building. He continued down the path and decided to take the usual shorter route he used when he felt like being alone with his thoughts. The place was usually quite dark and silent. The peace and quiet the place provided was never seen in another route. The lights were always flickering or never working at all. As he stepped his feet into the beginning of the route, he couldn't believe what his eyes met with. The once dark and quiet alley was now a small neighborhood. The whole place must have been renovated. Th
The hidden heir of Wayne Eighty-three: It takes 0.5 seconds
The café had a lot of new details to it that brought a sense of unfamiliarity to Ivan. Like the changed set of tables and chairs, the new wallpapers and paints, and the complete change in the alignment of things there. The only thing that made him realize it was still the same café was the familiar faces that took their orders. Tara couldn't look Ivan in the eyes for some reason, she kept staring right past him at the glass and outside at the passerby's that walked past the café. The dark liquid had a mesmerizing aroma that caressed Ivan's nose as he raised the cup to his lips to take a sip. Ivan always liked his coffee dark, not like he didn't enjoy it some other way, he had a strong likeness for every kind of coffee. But his love for tea was incomparable to that of coffee. He took a sip and returned the cup to the table and waited patiently and silently for about five seconds before his patience ran out. "I have been waiting for about five seconds now and I don't really have t
The hidden heir of Wayne Eighty-four: Everything will be alright
The wheels of the stretcher made screeching noises as it was being pushed across the hall with an elderly man lying on top of it. He was covered in blood and multiple groans of pain escaped his mouth as he laid there and was being pushed by a few nurses. There were several others like him. Little children, young men and women and elderly citizens like him. Just a few minutes ago, a fatal accident had taken place on the main road where the driver lost control of his brakes and ended up colliding with a smaller car with great impact. A few people were unconscious, probably dead, while others were awake with several broken bones and internal bleedings."Doctor Vienna! Please hurry! We have to take most of them into the operating room immediately!" A young man in a white coat exclaimed as he rushed down the hall. He ran his hand through his hair as a sigh escaped his mouth. He was frightened by the amount of injured people and emergency patients in just that one day. "Yes sir! Pleas
The hidden heir of Wayne Eighty-five: For tonight, I'm yours
Standing at the entrance of her home, there was a look of uncertainty on Vienna's face as she gave Ivan a once over with her hand firmly gripping the handle of the door. Taking her hand off the knob, she dipped them in her pocket to fetch her keys then put it in the keyhole and began jiggling it. After a few jiggles, she stopped. Scanning the dark and silent area with his eyes, Ivan waited patiently for her to open up the door. Noticing her every hesitant behavior, he had decided not to rush her with the thought that she was probably still feeling tipsy. After waiting for a while, he decided to ask her instead of making assumptions. "V, are you too drunk to open the door? Should I help you?" "Huh?" Her green eyes glared at him. "Me? Drunk? No I'm not, I can handle my alcohol pretty well." She responded with an awkward smile. "Well you seem to be having trouble opening the door for a while now so I'm just gonna help you open it instead of waiting." A smile rested on his face as

Tension filled the air and Vienna felt hypnotized by Ivan's words. Just looking into his eyes alone had begun to drive her crazy but she wasn't going to stop there, no, at least not that night. One slow step after the other, Ivan walked towards her with his hand still holding hers so firmly but yet very tenderly. She just stood there and watched his every move, his every step towards her. A voice began talking to her in her head, trying to reason with her. ["You can't give in to him after he rejected you like that! That would make him find you so cheap! Plus you already messed up NY trying to kiss him first!" The voice scolded. "I need this. I need him. I need to feel him to feel me." She responded. "You can't let him have you! Be reasonable! Think! You are not going to do this! Do you hear me?!" The voice in her head yelled louder and louder. ]"I'm not going to do anything you don't want me to, the choice is yours on what you want to do with me." Ivan's voice caused the voic

Two hundred and ten: Happily ever after
The man explained how his mother told them their deaths had been decided by the Andrews. When Ivan's real father found out about this, he told his wife to stay away on the day of his accident and protect his child while he remained in the car with a maid who agreed to sacrifice herself for the safety of her boss. They didn't want to drag anyone down with them but the woman insisted. So their enemies would be convinced and Ivan would be safe. “I can't believe this…” Ivan muttered to himself. Even Alfred was a little shaken by the story. He didn't know why they didn't include him in the plan, maybe because they knew he would never let them go ahead with it. He held back the urge to cry. Ivan felt like he was broken to pieces. “My mother…” he said softly and all eyes fell on him. “Where is she now? Do you know where she is?” His father seemed hesitant but nodded his head. “She attended your step mother's funeral to show her last respect. She came around sometimes just to check on yo

Mr Shay felt grateful as his plane finally landed. He was never a man who enjoyed flights, he preferred to travel by road for a trip or even by water which he extremely detested. But he would be more than happy to travel by water than to ever step foot in a plane. Without wasting time, he hurried out of the plane with the maids assigned to him. They all helped him with his bags and loads as they walked into the airport. He noticed his son standing not too far from him, waiting for his arrival. He had not expected his son to be around for his arrival since Ivan said he had a white collar job. But he was very pleased to see him after his long trip. His lips spread into a wide smile as he walked towards his son. “Ivan, my dear boy!” He called out to him. Several men moved closer to Ivan at once in a defensive way and Mr Shay froze in his steps. Two hundred and six: Early flight back
They all went inside and sat at the dining table. The maids surrounded them and began serving slices of pies. LD climbed down from her seat that was next to her grandmother. “Daddy!” She wailed as she hurried to Ivan. Ivan immediately caught her in his arms and lifted her into his lap. “What's wrong? Is there something bothering you?” She nodded her head but said nothing. They all watched her in fear. Neither of them understood what was wrong with her to make her almost tear up and worry and anxiety swallowed them up as they waited for her to confess to her father. “Go ahead Darling, you can tell me anything.” Ivan said in a soft tone. Janet was already on her feet and she hurried to the other side of Ivan's chair where she could meet with LD's gaze. Placing her hand on her husband's thighs, she crouched down next to him. LD still remained silent in her father's lap with her arms wrapped around his neck.“Here, come on, whisper it in my ear.” Ivan leaned in closer to her with h

Two hundred and five: Her Majesty
The car pulled up at the front space of the mansion and their driver hurried down to open the door for them. Three smiling faces stood close to a fountain, standing impatiently for Ivan and his wife to arrive. The driver opened the door but no one got out. Alfred wondered what was keeping them but he declined when Mrs Banks said to go to them instead. He decided they would just wait for them to join them. “We'll be a minute.” Ivan said to his driver and the handsome young man nodded his head and gently slammed the door back. “Is there… is there a problem?” Mrs Banks asked again but Alfred's decision to wait behind still stood. “They'll come out eventually, let's just wait and see what is going on first.” Alfred responded in a respectful manner and Mrs Banks nodded her head. Mr Banks didn't bother to protest or even utter a word. He knew that if he were to speak, he would have to break his perfect smile and he worried he would not be able to get a smile as perfect as that again.

Heather stood there, stunned, just as every other woman standing in the room. She was sure she had never heard London laugh before. She hadn't even seen the girl smile ever since she was brought to the shelter. Janet hadn't expected less though. Living with Ivan for over five years, she knew the kind of soul he was and she trusted that whatever he put his mind to, he was sure to achieve it. She couldn't have been more proud of him. Ivan carried little London back to his wife and Heather. “London, say hello to your new mom.” Janet smiled and waved at her. “Hello, my name is Janet.” “Hi, I can call you mom, right? Or do you want me to call you Janet?” London sharply responded with a smile. Janet chuckled softly. “You're such a smart little girl. You can call me mom,” she reached forward and gently smoothened London's Goldie locks hair. “I'd like that.” London smiled and nodded her head. “Will you carry me in your arms?” Janet opened her arms wide for her. “Come here.”London unw

Ivan managed to wear a smile on his face even though his heart was shattered to pieces. “Hello there, my name is Ivan.” He said with the brightest smile he could summon. “Do you want to tell me your name?”She silently stared at him, although it seemed as though she wasn't as scared as before. Yet she didn't utter a single word and neither did her gaze leave Ivan. “You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I don't force you to do anything you don't want to do. Although I would really like to know your name. I bet it must be as pretty as your eyes.” Ivan spoke softly. Even though he already knew what her name was, he was hoping to hear her say it to him. “London…” the scared little girl responded softly, almost as soft as a whisper. Ivan smiled brightly from his heart now, a smile that reached his eyes. “I knew it, I knew it would be something pretty. Do you remember my name, London?” She nodded her head, her knees folded in front of her to rest on her chest. “Do you want t

Two hundred and two: At the orphanage
Breakfast was served the next morning and as Ivan had mentioned, they had small talks about the best choice of orphanage to go to and the list had been summed up to the best three. “Okay,” Alfred started. “So we are down to smile orphanage, bright sun and victorious home. And the decision is down to you, young master Wayne. Which one would you like to go to today?” Ivan relaxed into his seat and let himself think for a minute before answering. “I got it!” All eyes fell on him as he exclaimed. “Today, well go to bright sun orphanage,”“Excellent choice young master Way–”“I'm not finished.” Ivan cut Alfred off. “Today, we'll go to bright sun orphanage, tomorrow, we'll go to smile and the day after, we'll go to victorious home.” Alfred was thrown into a pit of confusion. “You… you want to visit all three places?” His brow arched subconsciously as he questioned. “Why not? Jane wants to adopt three kids after all, nothing limits us to adopting from one place or is there a rule or some
