It's been three days already and Carissa, hasn't left her room. She communicated to the doctor who told her Sebastian, already started responding to treatment and he needed a kidney transplant. Carissa, went weak because, she couldn't discuss anything about Sebastian, with Mrs. Cherry. The doctor further let her know he won't be attending to Sebastian, anymore and will discharge him of instance because, Mrs. Cherry ordered it.
“Mother! Mother!!”
She stormed out of the room. After all, the three days been locked in the room was already over.
“Dinner is served.”
Grandma Hailey, spoke to Karen in disdain as she took her seat.
“I believe you already learned your lessons by now. If you loved to continue leaving here, you have to adapt to our ways. Kindly have your seat, there's a great opportunity ahead of us.”
Mrs. Cherry said, and Carissa, looked at her furiously, she would rather strangle her and go to jail rather than sit to eat at her wicked table.
“It will be a long search for the Leeuwenhoek regarding their missing son.”
Karen, spoke as she drank a glass of water.
“I discovered the Leeuwenhoek son, hasn't been around for the past twenty-seven years. I don't know how true this is, but the child was taken away from the father by her mother due to some unknown situation. Mr. Leewnhook seems not to know his son as well.”
Karen, spoke and everyone sighed. Just then, aunt Ava, climbed down from the stairs.
“I have booked a flight and I will be traveling to California for a business deal.” she spoke and Carissa, finally, had to take her seat.
“You seem mysterious to me, aunt.”
Karen, said and aunt Ava, looked at her with the corner of her eyes while she gave a smirk looking at her mother and sister.
“The world is deep, and why worry when you can be like everyone else. He-he just be the ruler of your destiny and people will consider it mysterious.”
She chuckled sarcastically while grandma sighed. Ava has never supported the affairs of this family right after Mrs. Cherry got married, a hidden secret they all harbor.
“An opportunity we will present to you, Carissa.”
Grandma spoke after sometime, glancing at Carissa, who was lost in her thoughts.
“Yes! Mother has spoken of that before you came.”
Karen added, frowning at Carissa, who isn't interested in whatever opportunity they speak of as her heart is greatly disturbed by another matter.
“Peradventure, the Leeuwenhoek son will be found, and if you indulge in this you might as well find him. We are developing new ways to strengthen our connection. So, you can as well forget about Sebastian, and focus on getting intimate with this unknown son of the Leeuwenhoek.”
“Is that why you asked the doctor to stop the treatment on Sebastian and discharge him? A patient not fully recovered do you know, Sebastian can die! Do you know his health status isn't favorable? You all have drained all of him, and now he is just a skeleton, waiting to be pushed down, so it could scatter into pieces.”
Carissa, raised her voice and queried in annoyance.
“Who doesn't die?”
Grandma Hailey asked getting up in annoyance.
“You dare not shout on this table!”
Mrs. Cherry thundered and Carissa frowned as everywhere went deaf in silence and the air filled with the aura of anger.
“ I heard the Leeuwenhoek son might have been found some minutes ago before coming downstairs. I heard in the news and blogs that, someone had claimed to see a resemblance to him, and he might be the Leeuwenhoek son.”
Aunt Ava, cleared the tension and everyone picked interest expect Carissa, who stood on her feet to leave and just then the door pushed open.
“Sebastian?”
She called in surprise, seeing him. She looked at the time. It was past eight pm, she wasn't expecting to see Sebastian here, so she frowned. He could have just run away, she further looked outside and could see a car driving out. Sebastian, walked forward, leaping on his legs.
“ What happened?”
She questioned, concerned about the way he was walking. She looked at his brutally bruised eyes, and it were an eyesore. He wore a black eyes glass but, she saw it through the corner of the glasses.
“It's a good thing you came, but so foolish of you as well.”
Mrs. Cherry spoke and Sebastian, glanced at her standing at the spot where he had been.
“You left this house for three days without my permission! You will have to return to wherever you are coming from.”
“Mother! It's late.”
Carissa spoke, not understanding what Mrs. Cherry meant by that, but it will be a relief on Sebastian.
“I do not understand Mother. You have asked that I be discharged, so…”
“You dare question me, Sebastian?” she walked towards him in anger. “You stinking individual. I have spoken just in case, you do not get it, you are leaving this house. I'm throwing you out!”
She mentioned, and it came as a surprise to everyone, not because they care. Once she said that, Carissa looked at the time again, while Sebastian, fell on his feet pleading with her.
“Please Mother, don't throw me out like this. I will do anything you wish of me, please Mother. This is the only family I have known…”
He pleaded, but the pleas fell on deaf ears as Mrs. Cherry already made up her mind.
“Mother, it's late into the night.”
Carissa defended standing in front of Mrs. Cherry.
“Your days in this home are over, Sebastian. Get out!”
“You have never added any value to our lives since you arrived for four years. So leave and get yourself more useless.”
Grandma Hailey spoke in disgust.
Sebastian, seeing that he couldn't win this time, dusted himself up and got up to his feet. Seems this is what fate has in store for him. He braced up looking at the faces of everyone, especially that of Karen, but she didn't care.
“I will leave.” he finally said.
“You should have done that long before now.”
Karen, spoke in a hasty manner, passing a document to her mother. Sebastian, looked at Karen and wished he could ask for a favor. His favor won't be granted, as he was hoping he take Karen along.
“Since I'm leaving, I wish to take Carissa along, since she is now my wife and the other… I'm only asking as a favor.”
He requested and aunt Ava, glanced at him indifferently for some reason, Carissa found it awful while Karen burst into an intimidating laugh.
“You couldn't ask of Karen. So good of you. I'm afraid, but you can't take either of my daughters out.”
Mrs. Cherry said and Ava seconded as that surprised everyone.
“Mother… The…”
“I am not your mother, loser!” She spoke rudely to him, handing him a paper.
“That's the divorce papers, and you will sign it before leaving. You claim to be legally married to Carissa, sign the divorce and let her have her freedom. Just so you know, a better opportunity awaits us after now.”
Sebastian took the divorce papers and stared at them while staring at Carissa, who looked in shock.
“Divorce papers?”
He muttered as they shook in his hands. These individuals have robbed him of everything.
“We are offering you a one million dollars to sign the divorce papers. That could help maintain your health at this time. Don't be so grateful, it's all Carissa's idea.”
Mrs. Cherry spoke and Carissa twitched her lips. Her mother could have easily given him the money without a condition now, she places a condition for this.
“I can't sign the divorce papers.”
She spoke and everyone looked shocked. Mrs. Cherry angrily stared at Carissa, and she moved forward to Sebastian, taking the papers from him.
“I will sign them.”
She said and signed the divorce just then, Sebastian's hope dashed. He couldn't believe even Carissa, could turn away from him, he thought she was caring. Maybe care isn't love now he is the loser, indeed that's what he is. He slowly watched as Carissa, ran upstairs without any further word after signing the documents and his eyes trickled in tears. Looking at the time, it was already eleven thirty into the night.
“Alright.”
He murmured and signed the divorce papers, giving It back to Mrs. Cherry as she smiled in satisfaction.
“May I spend the night here?” he asked meekly.
“No! These are one of your schemes. Here is the cheque, withdraw the money tomorrow, just get out of our lives.”
Karen, responded to him, and he walked out, being pushed away as the door slammed close on his face.
It isn't like Sebastian, knows anywhere in the city. He kept wandering that night looking for a comfortable place to lay his head he considered the orphanage, but, it's been a long time and it's far from his location at the moment. As he kept walking, the thunderstorm began and there was a heavy downpour to the earth. He quickly ran into a shop and hide there to avoid the angry rain mercilessly, dropping on him.
“It's all over now, for twentyseven years of my life, I haven't amount to anything not a child nor a name for myself.”
He grumbled as he began to feel cold and shiver. He wrapped his hands around his body. He did hide under a shade, but the rain wasn't merciful to him, it was too windy and it did vent his anger on Sebastian, body.
The next morning, Sebastian, got to his feet and his clothes was a bit wet they had to dry on his body, but it was wet still. He had managed to secure the one million dollars cheque,so he took it and headed to the bank. Once he got there he discovered the cheque is fake Mrs. Cherry had withdrew the offer. He wasn't surprised, but he couldn't believe to what extent a person can be so dubious. He thanked the man at the bank and found his way out he decided to venture into searching for the leeuwenhook son, maybe he will be lucky. He had to board a bus for free to the area where the orphanage was and as he got close,he discovered people gathered around. They were pleading that the orphanage shouldn't be sold nor burnt down walking further to observe, he slummed to the ground because, he was very exhausted.______________________________________At the Marcus mansion, some men arrived holding a picture of Sebastian,in the hospital with his head wrapped with a balm and they approached Karen,
“Leave that!” Commanded a lady in a red silk dinner dress holding a cup of glass wine as she gave a smile and turned her face away to the young man serving drink round the tables. “Sebastian!” she called, authority filled in her voice. “Get this cleaned up!” she commanded as everyone stared at the young man who stood staring at her before making to leave. “Don't stare at my granddaughter in that manner. Don't you have some shame? If you can't provide anything to the table, at least give yourself some honor by getting that dirt cleaned immediately.” Grandma Hailey scolded in a very irritating manner. “How would he know that mother, such a wretched man? He is so shameless.” Mrs. Cherry chipped in, staring daggers at the young man who had nothing to say to them rather than bury his face in shame. “I will go get the bucket and the mop.” Sebastian said and bowed before leaving. “He should hurry up, more guest are tripping in.” Karen, who had commanded him earlier to clean th
“Dan Anthem!” Sebastian called angrily and Dan looked in shock.“Are you shocked? Has your ego been broken?” asked Carissa, looking at Dan reaction. “Should he have called you Sir?”“Dan Anthem.” he called again. “This is my family matters, and outsiders like you ain't allowed to interfere.” He warned and this offended Dan as he smirked at him.“Ohh, baby, it's okay. Who doesn't know Dan? He isn't an illiterate after all, he can notice your presence and that's an honor for him to note that he is speaking of the honourable of Vlo oil company.”Karen said, and Dan, drew her closer to himself by holding her waist.“You are right.” he nodded. While they were still talking, Mrs. Cherry returned seeing the bucket on the floor and mop in Sebastian hands she angrily carried the bucket up and, Just as she made to pour the soapy water on him, someone stopped her from behind.“What do you want to do Cherry?” The lady held the bucket and Mrs. Cherry stared at her with open eyes.“Aunt Ava!” Ka
Carissa, spoke as all eyes turned to her. She proceeded to walk up the stage but Mrs. Cherry held her hands.“Let go of me, mother!” She insisted.“Do you want to bring reproach to us? What do you think you are doing?” She whispered to her but Carissa, didn't want to hear a word. Seeing that, Karen, walked towards her and gave her a slap on the cheek.“Are you so dumb? We are getting this tick off our skin, and you want to ruin it?” Karen asked and Carissa stared angrily at her holding unto her right cheek.“Mother!” she called in a hush voice. “You proclaimed Sebastian, my husband when you made me sign this document that cold night and of such Sebastian, is the son-in-law of this family and is going nowhere.” Carissa, said and mount up the stage. She looked at Sebastian, who was now covered in shame, and she smiled sweetly at him before she inhaled and exhaled, grabbing the microphone slightly.“I, Carissa Marcus, have come to tell you all that Sebastian, is the son-in-law of this
She angrily said and walked up to Dan, who just hung on a phone call and was looking tensed.“What is it, baby?” Karen asked worriedly.“Umm... Grandma has lost a lot of blood, and she is in a state of coma.” “No way. That scum will pay with his dare life. He will Roth in jail if anything happens to my grandmother.”Karen, cursed as she wept.“Don't worry, we will go to the hospital and I will get everything fixed. I have asked the doctor to commence treatment. I will be donating blood to grandma.” Dan spoke, and that gladdened Karen. Of course, he knows that will gladden her heart.“I'm coming along with the both of you.”Carissa, spoke and Karen hissed. Dan, signaled her to hop into the car, and so they drove off to the hospital. While they drove, Dan was lost in his thoughts that he didn't pay attention to what Karen was saying.“Dan?” She called after some minutes of no reply to the question Karen asked him.“Did you say something? I mean, I wasn't actually…”“What is the pro
“Master, a man is here to see you.” A young man in his late twenties spoke. He was wearing a black suit Complimented by a black hat.“Let him in.” Ordered the man from the other end of the phone. He sat comfortably in his office, swinging the chair from left to right. Looking at him, he should be in his mid-sixties. He has a round face and a bald head, his eyes brown and cozy his chin, so fluffy yet thin. His beard and mustache neatly shaped to compliment his face type.“Sit!” he commanded authoritatively with his deep masculine voice. “What brings you.” he asked the young man searching through the files on the table.“I have a picture that might be of help to you.” The man said and showed him four pictures, one of an advanced woman, a male child and the other two of a grown man.“There is a core resemblance, and I think this is your long-lost son you have been looking for.” Then spoke again in great assurance.“Where is this location?” He asked, and the man wrote it down, after
“I don't understand why my mother is being so cruel to you, and I also do not understand why you choose to stay here admist these maltreatments. Can't you just run away?” Carissa, spoke as she applied honey on his tummy, her eye trickled with tears as she tried not letting them drop. His entire tummy was already burnt. Before he could get to the bathroom, pull off his clothes and wash up, he was already burnt.“Are you asking me to commit the act of a criminal? Don't you know your parents will find me and throw me in jail, then you won't be able to do a thing.”He spoke in his calm voice. Carissa, looked at him and sighed deeply, she wondered if this is how Sebastian, will continue forever in their home. She would have torn the contract papers and saved him from this suffering. At least, he would be able to make a life for himself. “I will be right back.” She said and left with the honey while Sebastian, looked down at his tummy and wept looking in a mirror in front of him, he hated
He pleaded and, Karen, burst into laughter. “What use are you here? Collapse if you so wish listen to me I need to embark on a life-changing mission. I want to search for the Leeuwenhoek son! Don't do anything that would make me… Well… Get your lazy self out of there and get started with work I have instructed.”She commanded and walked out, leaving the doors open the AC from the hallway, blew Into Sebastian room, and he felt like he would pass away. He shivered and got himself up, moving towards the hallway to switch off the AC and just then, he slipped and fell to the ground, hitting his head hardly on a steel sculpture situated there.“Sebastian!” Carissa, called immediately she heard a loud noise and ran to the scene.“Karen! Sebastian!” she yelled her sister's name in fear but, she didn't answer she quickly took her phone and called her mother five missed calls before she picked.“What is the problem? What?” “Mother Sebastian has fallen…” She wept touching him all over, his t
