Chapter six
Rose stumbled backward, shocked and enraged by the slap. She couldn't believe Ethan had dared to slap her. Her face burning with fury, she raised her hand to slap him back. But Ethan caught her wrist, his grip like a vice. “Don't you dare,” he said, his voice deadly, his eyes blazing with anger. “How dare you think of raising your dirty hands at me?” Rose struggled to pull her hand free, but Ethan's grip only tightened, sending waves of pain through her wrist. Caleb's face darkened with rage as he watched Ethan slap Rose. How dare he disrespect him like that? Caleb charged at Ethan with a fierce battle cry, ready to strike. But Ethan was too quick. With lightning-fast reflexes, he sidestepped Caleb's attack, sending Caleb crashing to the ground. Caleb winced in pain, struggling to get back to his feet. His pride wounded, Caleb seethed with anger. He couldn't believe Ethan had made him look like a fool. Rose, meanwhile, was still trapped in Ethan's grip, her face contorted in pain. Ethan's eyes never left hers, his gaze piercing as he held her wrist in a tight vice. Ethan pinned Rose against the wall, his eyes glinting with a mixture of anger and amusement. “What's wrong, cat got your tongue?” he taunted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Rose's face twisted in a mixture of pain and rage, but she remained silent, her eyes blazing with fury. She was waiting for Ethan to release her, her mind racing with plans for revenge. She vowed to make his life a living hell, both in and out of prison. She would stop at nothing to make him suffer, to bring him to his knees in front of the whole world, begging for her forgiveness. Only then would she consider forgiving him. Ethan released Rose's wrist roughly, and she collapsed to the floor, wincing in pain. He dusted his hands, a satisfied smirk on his face. Just as he turned to leave, Caleb spoke up, his voice low and menacing. “Don't take another step,” he warned, his eyes flashing with anger. Ethan raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips. “Oh, I'm shaking in my boots,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Caleb's jaw clenched, his face reddening with rage. “Get down on your knees and apologize,” he spat, his eyes blazing with fury. Ethan burst out laughing, the sound echoing through the room. He raked his hair back, his eyes glinting with amusement. “I'd love to see you try to make me,” he said, his voice taunting. Caleb's face twisted with anger, he took a step forward, his gaze locking with Ethan's in a silent challenge. Rose watched, her eyes flashing with malice. She longed to see Ethan humbled, kneeling at her feet. She began to fake sob, hoping to manipulate the situation to her advantage. Caleb's gaze flicked from Ethan's face to Rose's, then back to Ethan. “Get down on your knees, now!” he demanded. Ethan raised an eyebrow. “And if I don't?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement. Caleb's face twisted with anger. “Then you'll get nothing from the divorce, and you'll be bullied in prison,” he spat, his voice calm but menacing. Rose slowly wiped away her tears, a mischievous smile spreading across her face. She was enjoying this, and she had made up her mind that even if he apologized he wouldn't get a penny from the divorce, no matter what. Ethan chuckled, a low, mocking sound. “You know, you must be stupid,” he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. Caleb and Rose gasped in unison, and Caleb pointed to himself. He asked, his voice incredulous. “Me?!” Ethan nodded, his smile growing wider. "Yes, you. If you think I care about a hundred thousand dollars, Caleb, you must be stupid.” “You have not only insulted Rose, but also me!” Caleb's face turned beet red with rage, his eyes bulging with fury. His clenched fists trembled with restrained anger, and his jaw was set in a tight, menacing line. A vein pulsed in his forehead, and his breathing was labored, as if he was struggling to contain his wrath. He seethed with hatred for Ethan, who had not only looked him in the eye but had also insulted him. No one had ever dared to defy the Swayne family like this. They always commanded respect, and people trembled at the mention of their name. Caleb watched, his anger boiling over, as Ethan turned to leave. He gritted his teeth, his eyes blazing with fury. He rushed to Rose's side, concern etched on his face. “Are you okay?” he asked, but Rose shook her head, still seething with anger. Caleb's gaze snapped back to Ethan, who was reaching for the door handle. “I know why you're here,” Caleb spat, his voice venomous. Ethan's hand froze, and he turned to face Caleb, a look of surprise and curiosity on his face. How did Caleb know why he was here? Ethan's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. But before he could ask any questions, Caleb's next words made Ethan's lips curl into a mocking smile. Caleb sneered, his eyes gleaming with malice. “Since next year marks your fifth year in prison, the security guard brought you here to do some community service, right?” he asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. Ethan's response was a mocking smile, his eyes glinting with amusement. He didn't bother to reply, his silence only fueling Caleb's anger. Undeterred, Caleb continued, his smirk growing wider. “I'm surprised they brought you to a rich family's house to do your service. Guess that's what happens when the Edwards want something – they can make anything happen.” Caleb's eyes sparkled with contempt as he regarded Ethan. He believes Ethan was brought here to clean the house like some regular maids. Caleb strolled over to the living room table, a sly grin spreading across his face. He picked up a valuable-looking jug, admiring it with a mischievous glint in his eye. “This little treasure earns five hundred dollars,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. With a flourish, Caleb walked over to where Ethan was standing, the jug held tantalizingly in front of him. Then, with a sudden, dramatic motion, he smashed the jug to the floor. “Oh my, Ethan just broke the jug!” Caleb exclaimed, his voice dripping with false innocence. Rose's cheeks spread into a wide smile as she watched Caleb's clever move, clearly delighted by his cunning plan. “Serves him right.” Rose muttered under her breath. Caleb and Rose were at the Edward's residence to extend an invitation to Maria's wedding. The Edward's family and the Swayne family had recently signed a business agreement, putting them on friendly terms. Rose turned to Ethan, her voice dripping with condescension. “If I were you, I'd be on my knees begging right now. Maybe then we'd consider showing you some favor.” She emphasized her point, “Caleb is the youngest master of the Swayne family, while I'm from the esteemed Bryce family. And you…?” She paused, shaking her head in disdain. "You're the son of a nobody. So, tell me, whose side of the story do you think the Edward's family would believe? A nobody like you or influential people like us?!”Chapter seven.Ethan was shocked by their absurdly dramatic display. He couldn't believe they would go to such great lengths to frame him for something he didn't do. He felt a surge of indignation and hurt, wondering if this was how much Rose hated him now.He thought to himself, “Have I ever wronged her, even for a day?” He knew Rose loved money, but he never thought she was so consumed by greed that she would change her behavior so drastically.Ethan shrugged, thinking, "I guess nothing will surprise me anymore after what they just pulled.”Rose tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for Ethan to apologize, but he remained silent. His expression was unreadable, his eyes fixed on some point beyond her.“Get down on your knees and apologize now!” Rose demanded, her voice rising. “Otherwise, you'll face the consequences, and I promise you, you won't like it.”Ethan didn't flinch, his gaze never wavering. Rose pressed on, her voice taking on a deadly tone. “We both know the Edward's fami
Chapter Eight.Rose trembled, her voice trapped in her throat. She had never seen Victoria so furious. Her eyes were wide with fear, her bladder threatening to betray her. Caleb's eyes were equally wide with shock. Victoria's gaze never left Caleb, her anger palpable. Ethan, however, remained calm, his back against the wall, his arms folded, one hand supporting his chin.Rose and Caleb exchanged bewildered glances. How did Victoria take Ethan's side without him even speaking?Undeterred, Rose burst into fake tears. "Why would I lie?" she wailed. Caleb nodded in agreement, his face reddening with anger. "Yes, why would we lie?" he shouted, striding towards Ethan. "Say something, you fool!"Victoria's voice cut through the chaos. "Enough!" she screamed, her eyes blazing. "This madness ends now! You've crossed a line by breaking our ancestral jug!"Rose flinched, her eyes wide with fear. "Why would we break the jug?" she stammered.Victoria's smirk sent shivers down Rose's spine. Victo
Chapter nine.Victoria couldn't help but ask, "Why were you jailed?"Ethan's gaze shifted to her, his expression unreadable. "Just drive," he said curtly, struggling to contain his frustration.Victoria nodded and let out a soft sigh. She began to drive, the silence between them growing increasingly awkward.Victoria attempted to break the silence, but Ethan ignored her, lost in his thoughts. He was desperate to push aside memories of Maria and the pain of being betrayed. As a General, Ethan had used his influence to empower the Bryce family, helping them rise to prominence. Yet, they had repaid him by humiliating, framing, and pushing him to the edge.Ethan's eyes gazed out the window, his mind consumed by the bitter taste of betrayal. As they arrived at the prison, Victoria's phone buzzed with an incoming report. She scanned the information, her eyes widening in surprise. The report was about Ethan, and it revealed that he was supposed to be in jail.Victoria's mind began to whi
"No, I never did. I just needed someone, so I held onto you. I didn't have any other options, and when I found someone else, I needed to get rid of Rowan so I could frame you and be with Caleb,” she said, rolling her eyes. Ethan clenched his fist. Hearing the truth from Maria hurt him. He leaned in and said, "I'll leave this jail today, and I'll make sure you pay for your crimes by staying in jail for a lifetime.”“I want to see you make me rot in jail!” She said, “Take this money and use it to improve your life." She handed him a check.Ethan took the check and tore it up in front of her. "Happy married life," he said and walked away.Maria's face turned red with anger. "You're too proud, Ethan. I'll make sure you suffer.”On the hand, Caleb entered his house, where his angry father was pacing around. "What did I just hear you do?" his father asked, his voice stern.Caleb raised his eyebrows. "What are you talking about?" he asked, though he knew exactly what his father meant.
Chapter Eleven.Ethan arrived at the lodge and walked up to the receptionist. "I want to book a room," he said. The receptionist looked him up and down, a mixture of disgust and skepticism on his face. Ethan could tell the man thought he was some kind of playboy trying to use his looks to get a free room."This isn't some kind of cheap motel," the receptionist said, his tone dripping with disdain.Ethan chuckled, unfazed. He knew he looked like nobody - he was wearing bathroom slippers, a faded shirt, and worn jeans."How much is the room?" Ethan asked, his eyes locked on the receptionist. The receptionist stated the price per night, "It's $160." Ethan pulled out his card and instructed, "Debit me $320."The receptionist's eyes widened as he took the card, his expression a mixture of surprise and curiosity. He inserted the card, and to his astonishment, the transaction was successful. He was shocked. “Keep the remaining money.” The receptionist gasped. Ethan ignored him, and th
Chapter twelve. The Tycoon's coughing fit intensified, despite being given water. His body began to swell, prompting a frantic rush to the hospital. Doctors scrambled to diagnose the issue, but their tests yielded no explanation for the mysterious swelling.Panic gripped the Sawyer family as they scoured the city for specialist doctors. Meanwhile, Victoria was still with Ethan. "We should get the Sawyer family a wedding gift. You don't have to worry I will deliver it myself," Ethan suggested. Victoria's eyes widened in incredulity. "You can't be serious?" she asked, her tone laced with skepticism. Ethan shook his head. "Why would I joke about that?" Victoria stood up, her expression stern. "That's your ex-family we're talking about – the same people who lied about you breaking their precious ancestral jug.”Ethan chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "That's in the past. I've forgiven them. I think it's best if we get them a gift." Victoria's eyes widened in surprise. E
Chapter thirteen.Someone whispered; “That's Caleb's inheritance!”Ethan chuckled to himself, satisfied that his plan was unfolding as intended. His gift to the Tycoon had been a calculated move, designed to ensure that someone would recognize him as the miracle doctor. This would prompt the Tycoon to demand treatment from Ethan, thereby securing Caleb's inheritance.Caleb stepped forward, his face twisted in indignation. "Father, you can't be serious about agreeing to this nonsense," he exclaimed. The Tycoon's eyes darted back and forth between Ethan and his son, clearly torn. He had never been in a situation like this before, and he felt obligated to honor his promise."Father, just give this beggar some money and throw him out," Caleb sneered.Ethan smiled, a cold glint in his eye. "I knew you'd react this way," he said, his voice dripping with contempt. "You rich people are always so quick to exploit the poor." Ethan pulled out his phone and played a recording of the Tycoon's p
Chapter one. “Miracle doctor! Miracle doctor! Miracle doctor!” The crowd chanted as Ethan was about to leave the Edward mansion. “Don't leave, please,” Victoria pleaded, her voice cracking. "We were wrong to doubt you. Please forgive us,” Victoria begged, but Ethan ignored her and kept walking. Victoria, a young CEO who has stolen the heart of high-profile men and also the eldest daughter of the Edward's family pushed her way through the crowd. Ethan had to stop when someone grabbed his hands. She knelt down holding Ethan's leg.“Please, forgive us. Don't leave us in times of our need, we apologize for underestimating you,” she sobbed. But Ethan rolled his eyes, he was disgusted at the fact that they didn't think twice before they had let the other doctors insult him.He was about to move, but Victoria held the legs tight, as she nudged her other family members to kneel with her. “Please heal my grandfather, he's all we got. We apologize for doubting your perspective earlier. We
