Alvin's body was floating on the cold lake in the middle of the city. The normally busy street only had a few cars passing along the road by that time of the night. He was too weak to open his eyes or ask for help. He just lay there, awaiting death. All of a sudden, a huge siren blared in his mind, waking him up from the coma he fell into after being beaten to a deplorable state.

[Host found, initiating the septillionaire's superstar system. Do you accept or reject?]

The exhausted Anthony couldn't answer…he felt his eyes drooping again as he sank deeper into the water.

“Wake up! The moment you sleep, you die. Don't you want to live and take revenge for all Sonya put you through in these past few months? Keep your eyes open no matter what happens. Do you want the system or not? If you say yes, you will have access to unlimited wealth, supernatural abilities, and anything you can imagine. You will become the most famous superstar, a strong warrior, and the richest man around. In exchange, you will go on missions for the system to earn contribution points.” The voice said again.

Alvin sighed, unable to move any part of his body.

“I must have gone delirious from the pain, making me hallucinate. Is this how I die?”

“Accept the system so that I can save your life. Hurry up, otherwise I will go find another host.”

“Accept,” Alvin muttered, even if he was hallucinating, there was no harm in trial.

At once, a bright light wrapped around him like a cocoon and brought him out of the water, placing him on the shore.

“Merging with the host, 10%, 50%, 70%, 100%. Fusion successfully completed.” The pleasant female voice said, followed by a low ding.

“Congratulations, master. The septillionaire's superstar system is now yours and eight million dollars has been deposited into your account as a welcome bonus. Also, the ultimate revival elixir has been added to your cart. Do you want to utilize them now?”

“Ultimate revival elixir? Can it heal me? Please fuse it right away.” Alvin whispered with great difficulty.

A blue screen appeared before him with numerous sections outlined on it, including weaponry, a store, a pharmacy, and a library. However, his eyes were fixed on the section marked ‘available for cash out’. Without waiting for the system's guidance, he pressed the cash-out button beneath the elixir, and a little jade bottle appeared in his hands. Alvin quickly swallowed the entire content, ignoring the mind-splitting pain from his numerous wounds and broken bones.

Alvin suddenly screamed in pain.

The moment the elixir entered his body, it began to spread fire from the pit of his belly to other parts of his body.

He was on fire…literally as if he was thrown into a volcanic lake. Sweat poured out of his body and he felt the flames flowing through his veins.

“Master, your body is being forged into a new and stronger one. Endure the pain.”

After some time, a warm, golden light covered him and he sighed in relief. Soon, the wounds on his body sealed up, and he felt a warm energy around the areas with broken bones as it fixed itself. The process continued for ten minutes till his entire body was encased with the warm energy.

The pain in his body slowly disappeared and the patches of blood on the surface of his skin peeled off to review a white and spotless skin. Even his physique improved, making his muscle mass increase.

“First-level body forging completed. Analysing the host 1% 10% 30% 60% 80% 100%”

"Name: Alvin Kent

Age: 22 years

Race: Human

Nationality: Amerian

Strength: 12 points (very weak)

Agility: 15 points (pitifully weak)

Intelligence: 50 points(considered a genius by Earth's standards, but he's just average)

Vitality: 40 points

Memory: 60 points

Prestige: 0 points

Skills: singer and composer.”

Alvin frowned as he listened to the system's analysis. Was the system looking down on him? What's up with the ‘pitifully weak and just average’ analysis?

“Do you wish to purchase anything using the reward money from the system?”

“I need a house, some food, and a mobile phone.” Alvin quickly replied without giving it much thought.

“Master, may I suggest you leave the house till tomorrow? After your first mission, the reward money will multiply and you will have enough to purchase a mighty villa. Why don't you find a hotel for now? If you buy a house with the current balance, it won't be that big. What do you want to do?”

Alvin’s brows furrowed in deep thought as he weighed the options before him.

“Can I go on the mission now? I no longer feel sick. I feel even stronger than my usual self.”

“That's also possible. You can check the current mission tab.”

The blue screen appeared before him and the words ‘MISSION TAB’ were written boldly on top.

Level 1, choose the preferred degree: Easy, intermediate, hard.

“Mmm, can you explain more to me about the things on the screen?”

“You're currently in level 1 since you have not unlocked any skills or battle abilities. Level 1 is the beginner tier level, as you go forth and improve, the level will also increase. Now, the degree of difficulty is graded from easy to hard. In the future, two more degrees will be added, profound and life-threatening. Naturally, the reward for completing each mission varies according to the level of difficulty. The harder the degree of a particular mission chosen, the greater the reward.” The system patiently explained.

“Those ones marked as profound and life-threatening, does it mean that the chances of getting hurt are high?” Alvin asked, watching the screen fervently.

“What do you mean by getting hurt? If it was merely getting hurt, then it would be graded as hard. The system chose you because, in the future, there's a calamity you are destined to avert. There's a septillion dollars to be won, and more keeps flowing in every day: unlimited wealth and power. But nothing in this world is free; the system’s gifts are not totally free, and you will be required to do certain things. But rest assured that it won't go against morality and civil ethics.”

Alvin kept nodding as if he understood everything.

“Now, to answer your question, profound means the mission involves lots of technical difficulties that need wisdom, resilience, and exceptional strength to overcome, and the chances of success are 40%. Then, the life-threatening level means that it's very dangerous,, and only by creating a miracle can you succeed. The chances of success are between 15% to 5%, and even then, coming out unscathed will be a miracle. Furthermore, there's also a special platinum-level mission for those who have reached the higher mission threshold. The chances of success in that category are between 4% to 0.5%.”

“What? Doesn't that mean that I might die during one of the higher-level missions?” Alvin asked, his eyes wide with incredulity.

“It's not too late to change your mind. Although you're the most suitable person, and the system has already fused with you, if you don't want it, it can move to another person since it's less than 24 hours. And you can also keep the elixir. That is, you will remain healthy and not return to the state I found you in the lake. But the eight million dollars will be taken back and you will lose your chance to take revenge and rise to the top. What do you want to do? Put your life on the line and become great, or live on in mediocrity?”

“I will take the chance. If I don't get powerful, anyone can kill me anytime. My life won't be safe either. I might as well go on the missions. Besides, the great disaster you speak about will probably not happen any time soon. And I can just choose to not go on those missions.”

“Mmm, you can't refuse a system mission. And each time you fail a mission, the rewards for the previous successful mission will be subtracted. For example, if you fail mission 9, the rewards from mission 8 will be taken back or slashed in half, depending on the reason for the mission failure. Also, there will come a time when you need to take on those categories. However, since the system chose you, it means you have the potential to become the greatest. Do you still want to go on?”

“Yes, of course, complete the process. I won't change my mind in the future, as long as the system keeps its own end of the bargain.”

“Good. Final fusion has been completed.”

Alvin smiled and tried to tap on the virtual monitor, giddy with excitement. The monitor suddenly started to blink red lights, becoming unstable.

“Emergency! Emergency! System mission, accept now.”

“What the hell? Didn't you just say that I have not qualified for such difficult and life-threatening missions? Why are you already sending me on special missions?” Alvin shouted, his eyes wide with disbelief and unwillingness. He had not even learned any skill that could help him protect himself. Does this mean that he would die before he had a chance to enjoy the money?

Alvin instinctively squatted down with lightning speed, his heart pounding. “You should be preparing for the test session, why are you all still sitting lazily?” One of them barked, displeasure coloring his face on seeing everyone in relaxed blissful postures. Alvin exhaled in relief, he didn't seem to have noticed him. The two people behind the young man who seemed to be the professor continued talking about the new elixir, while the professor watched the rest of the staff. Alvin looked at the little bundle in his arms. The child woke up due to Alvin's fast movement as he squatted down, but he didn't cry, just looking up at him. “Good boy.” He muttered and carefully lowered the child into the makeshift cot in the storage space. He watched the kid to check if he would cry. Seeing that it didn't show any sign of discomfort due to the strange environment, he returned to the task at hand. His anesthetic gun materialised in his hand. Earlier, Alvin inadvertently discovered th

Alvin searched through his inventory and found a little energy pill suitable for babies. It was just like vitamins, filling and milky. He wore sterile gloves on top of his black leather gloves, and one of the capsules appeared in his hand. He would have loved to feed the baby with milk, but he couldn't carry the child up without others noticing. He was invisible, the baby wasn't. Later, once it was safer, he would find something better for the kid to drink. But for now, this would have to do. It was a special elixir he made from the water of a divine tree. It was different from other spiritual trees and fruits in the sense that it was mild, and slow acting, suitable for babies. It released nutrients over a long period of time, preventing bloating and energy deviating, which might lead to complications. He tiptoed towards the baby, careful not to brush against the people chatting around the table. He looked around, making sure no one was paying attention to the child and adj

Alvin adjusted his position, carefully avoiding being seen by the combat master. His heart was pounding, the statue gave him a weird feeling like it was alive. The first box was carried down, then the second. The other man in military gears also came around to help. “Is this all you found?” The woman in the white scrub asked, going to check the bundle in the nurse's arm. “Yes, Becky. Nowadays, it's harder to find gifted kids in the uptown area. However, this baby has a saint rank physique, and I think there should be a martial soul. Definitely a nice potential mutant warrior.” “His blood smells nice.” The Becky in white lab coat replied, opening the shawl. The moment she touched the baby, the child began to cry as if he knew the devil was close by. “Oh, shut the fuck up, you stupid little thing” Becky said with an eye roll. “If I hear your voice again, you will get it from me.” Then she turned to the nurse. “Don't you think that he would make a nice little sacrifice? • lab of abomination 1

Alvin exhaled in relief the moment they peacefully passed the checkpoint. He was conscious of his surroundings, the yin aura was especially powerful. There were patrols moving around, watchfully keeping an eye out. However, they seemed visibly relaxed, as if they weren't watching for outsiders. It was impenetrable, no one was foolish enough to slip in to die. Except Alvin who had a death wish. “System, give me a run down of the mission requirements, create a map and circle out the targets.” “Master, the dark aura here is too powerful. I can't see far or access some areas. The spiritual ward is too powerful.” Alvin nearly cursed out. What kind of bullshit was this? If it couldn't investigate when he already brought it inside, what was he supposed to do? This fortress was as big as an entire city. Was he supposed to go from building to building, knocking on doors and asking which one was the right lab? He was sure there were at least more than four labs with different purpose

Outside the fortress. Alvin still lay low, close to the fenced perimeter. This place wasn't safe and he felt someone watching him. But each time after investigation, he saw no one. Almost as if a powerful master was using his spiritual consciousness to sweep over the fortress. After some thought, Alvin made a decision. “It seems like I will have to use those forbidden techniques.” He had made a vow to himself not to practice dark arts, but at this point, there seemed to be no other choice. Dark arts used yin aura, and this place had it in abundance. However, it tainted the soul with darkness. If one didn't have a strong will, they might get addicted to the fast power upgrade it offered, going deeper and deeper into the practice till they fell into the dark path, using the most forbidden methods to advance, not minding people who might be killed, or the laws of nature defied. The library the stone-egg from Medicine sage valley's forbidden zone asked him to take with him contain

  • Bad fate

On hearing ‘A visitor’, the sentinel's head snapped up. This place was far away from normal civilization, and they had used their people in government to ward off common people, turning the area into a forbidden zone. Besides, it was night when desert monsters were the most active, how could there be someone stupid enough to enter the black owl citadel? Especially with Lord Ning awake? Probably, the person didn't know he had come out from his secluded cultivation. Still, it didn't make sense. “Ah!” A thought occurred to the sentinel and he looked at Lord Ning. “My Lord, a team was sent to replenish provisions for the human team heading the transformation elixir research. It could be them returning.” The corner of Lord Ning’s lip turned up in a disdainful smirk. “Is that so?” He didn't believe it one bit. But he was too lazy to check. He wasn't the type to volunteer for thankless jobs. If someone wanted to spy on them, so what? With the measures set in place, the person could onl
