The next morning,. Jack hurriedly stood up from his bed and switched on his laptop. Today was the day of his presentation and he could not afford to miss it for anything. He had hurriedly had a lot of things saved in accordance to what he had saved earlier.

Finally, his dreams was gradually coming to pass. He could not afford to miss it for any reason. At least, for the position he was expecting.

Nervous, scared and fidgeting, he clicked on the files he was going to present in the presence of big investors and CEOs. If something went wrong, it would be a big blow for him.

He hurriedly presented it as if he was in the conference room. Happy that his plans were gradually coming to pass and satisfied, he switched off his laptop and went ahead to meet his girlfriend who seemed lost.

“ Baby” he said, smiling and walked up to her, she seemed so downcast which made him wonder if all was wrong.

An idea suddenly struck in his mind and he smiled.

Oh, she must be very worried about me. He thought and smiled.

“ oh… I know you are worried about me. You have been like this since last night. I promise you that I will make sure to pass the contract!” he said and smiled as he pecked her while she shifted uncomfortably. He was very confident that she was only concerned about him. He became so happy. He had the best girlfriend in the world that cared so much about him and now, he must do everything to make her proud. He thought and hugged her so tightly but then, she said nothing, still feeling so uncomfortable.

“ will you smile for me,?” he asked but she just faked a smile and hurriedly walked away from him, still fidgeting. He smiled and looked at her till she was out of his sight.

I will make sure to make you proud, it’s just a while, baby. He thought and smiled as he began to think of how he would spoil her when he eventually get what he had been expecting.

Few minutes later, they had both boarded a cab to the company where the meeting would take place. There, he was met with a lot of press which made his entry so difficult. What was he expecting anyway? When it was a big project that even the online investors around the world would be watching from their system.

Oh, how much he felt lucky for him to be chosen to present to the head of the important organizations. He felt so proud of himself and walked so majestically while he pulled his girlfriend towards him. He was quick to notice that all was not well with her but he decided not to say anything. He felt that she was probably worried about him. He smiled again at that thought.

Most times, it would seem as if his girlfriend wanted to say something but she would hurriedly stop. Instead, she resolved to fidgeting but Jack did not read any meaning to all of these. He still believed that it was all because of him.

The moment he found his way to the company, someone called him. Turning around, he was surprised to see his best friend, John, who had also been his roommate from the University. Overwhelmed with surprise, he laughed.

“ yo, man! What are you doing here?” Jack asked smiling as he hurriedly hugged his best friend who looked so happy to see him.

“ It’s been a while. Seeing you now makes me realize that you have changed!”

“ yeah, but I’m surprised”

“ remember you told me that you were having a presentation today? Well, I’m here to cheer you up and sit down as one of your fans.” He said and hugged him again.

Jack was still surprised to see his friend. He could not believe that his wealthy friend would come all the way from NY just because he wanted to cheer him up. Nevertheless, he still felt happy that there were people around him that were ready to see him leave his current state.

“ Meet my girlfriend, Nancy, Nancy, meet my best friend and roommate from college” he said and looked at his girlfriend.

Something was off about his girlfriend when he said that but then, he overlooked it and thought that she was still probably worried about his presentation.

“ hi,” she said and looked elsewhere. John stared at her also which made him wonder if they had met before.

“ Let’s go inside now, it’s almost time for the presentation,” he said and looked at his watch while John glanced at his girlfriend for a while and left for the conference room.

They sat down quietly while the introduction began. As usual, his girlfriend still felt so bothered that she did not know when Jack stood up beside her and walked forward. He had been tapping her lightly before he left for the podium but she was lost in a world of her own.

“ Hello everyone, my name is Jack Matt and I will be taking you on the presentation that will change the world’s orientation about business ordeals through application development.” He said and smiled, glancing at his girlfriend who still seemed as if she was in a world of her own.

“ As a technical staff, I have gone through series of applications which will also be of benefit to our company and branches. Now, I want us all to focus ahead as I open the file that will take us towards another dimension” he said and smiled as he looked at the judges and the big figures who seemed like they were enjoying what he was saying.

He hurriedly switched on his drive which contained the list of all the files he had saved earlier. He did not bother to check up on them since he was confident of what was there.

“ My life will definitely change after all this presentation! I can’t wait!” he thought and smiled as he watched their reaction.

But then, the moment he had clicked on the drive, he became so shocked on the outcome. What he had never in his lifetime imagined finally happened.
