Outside the wall, in the parking lot, a blue car suddenly lit with an orange tint coming from beneath it, as it slowly started rising and floating 30 centimeters off the ground.
When Sydni Arevik approached the silently floating smooth capsule shaped car, the top half became transparent as the driver’s door opened.
Before entering the car she gestured with two fingers at the passenger door, which opened for Adam adjusting a seat to his size and age.
entering the car before miss Sydni, Adam didn’t like the childish treatment this car was giving him, It gave him a restricted access to children programs on the network. Even the symbiote didn’t bother scanning the data on this network. it already had a 30 years worth of knowledge and experience from Elina.
“city 17, 30-23 54th street. Green.” Sydni gave the car system their destination coordinates, code green meant they are not in a rush.
“that is not my home address!” Adam said raising his eyebrows.
The car started rising slowly, when it reached an altitude higher then the surrounding buildings, it started accelerating in the direction of city 17, which wasn’t visible at all from this area.
“we’re going to the resident management department, there is some paper work to be done first.” Said Sydni with her eyes on a monitor occasionally typing somethings.
‘what Is resident management department!’ asked Adam in his mind.
[resident management department. The national department responsible for citizens health and social care, education and child protection. More details available on the governmental law and code of conduct.]
The question miss Sydni was anticipating to be asked didn’t come her way. “do you know what resident management department is, Adam?!” she asked while pushing the monitor away and looking at Adam.
“the department of people who thinks they can control my life, just because I’m of a certain age.” Adam answered monotonously, turning his head to look out side the window.
Sydni sighed at his answer. “you should talk more Adam, children needs social interaction to learn and grow.” She said hoping the advice may spark a conversation for the long road, and make him open up to her.
The journey to city 17 should take 1 hour.
the car can reach a maximum speed of 100 kph on code Green, a maximum speed of 500 kph on code blue, and the emergency or continental travel code red, the car will travel at supersonic in the atmosphere, which is not allowed to be used within a certain distance of any residential area. Code red could also be used in space to travel at hypersonic speed reaching mach 30 with the older generations.
Adam gave her a glance and turned his head back to the window.
“it’s not every day that I get to go on a vacation!” she sighed turning her head to the window as well. “looks like it’s going to be a silent vacation.” She murmured to her self Watching the trees and occasional water streams and hills passing by beneath them.
“Shouldn’t we go faster!?” Adam said, in an attempt to avert the coming conversation, He pulled his seat away from her. As his hand kept touching the car’s interior, the symbiote scanned and stored the data on the material it’s made of. The information was not useful for their development at this stage so it didn’t bother him with it.
The car’s interior is made of G3-8 nanite cluster fabric, which can adjust its shape and mechanical properties freely. This allows it to take any shape and form, in cases of accidents or extreme acceleration or deceleration, the fabric would support any organic parts of the passenger to handle the stress.
Adam didn’t have any interest In chatting with miss Sydni, he blamed her for ending up in the orphanage, even though she wasn’t the one that caught him or brought him there.
“you know, Adam! I would help any child in the house to find their parents if they exist. Do you know Why?” Sydni paused to let him participate in the conversation, and he didn’t, so she continued. “I had a son, and I lost him.” Tears built up in her eyes. “so I do what ever in my power to help Those who are lost. In the hope that my son found someone to help him.”
“you got me lost so you can help me?! did you not have enough lost people!” Adam chuckled, he was not about to stay silent listening to her self righteousness.
Her blood pressure risen, she struggled to keep her cool. “you don’t see any other child in the house trying to escape, do you?! because they have no where else to go.” She wasn’t going to let him be a selfish, self centered, blind a*hole. ‘how dare he blame me for the irresponsible actions of his father!’ she thought.
Even though she wasn’t happy with his attitude, she did hope his father is alive and can take care of him.
Adam didn’t think about what she said, he wouldn’t concern him self with others when they are not of any use to him.
The rest of the trip was rather quiet, miss Sydni hoped he was thinking about her words.
The thick forest carpet started receding, and the distant ocean line became visible in the horizon.
City 17 is built on the ocean surface, like all the human cities. Land only had small institutions or military bases, rich people also liked living on land for luxury purposes.
On the shore line there was a small military city, this was the farthest place Adam reached in his escaping efforts, unfortunately they caught him rather fast. Military cities didn’t have children, it is made for the training cadets, to rest between drills.
As they passed above the city, Adam noticed it consisted of three areas. the living court, which is made of a chain of multiple cabins connected to each other, each of them had its own color and theme to it, floating harmoniously on the water around The market area, which had multiple platform shops floating in a grid, unlike the cabins, they were not connected to each other, Adam wondered how people were supposed to reach them. Finally, the training ground, on land, A huge base, with multiple buildings and training courses.
Sydni purposely slowed down the car with a hand signal when she noticed that Adam was focused on the city.
If she didn’t have the appropriate clearance, miss Sydni wouldn’t have been able to approach this area, let alone flying this low above it.
They still had a long way to go to reach city 17, so she gestured to the car to speed up again.
In the horizon, there was land, or so it seemed. City 17, one of the biggest cities in the world. floating serenely on the oceans surface, a place where humans can build and destroy to their hearts content, away from nature.Adam lived in city 17 his entire life, which amounts to 9 years, he never saw the city from outside with his own eyes. He wasn't excited, he wasn't happy to go home, he was disappointed. According to the knowledge in the symbiote's data, this city is all controlled and monitored by the central tower. Why did his father leave him in such a place, where he could be under the control of these people.Seeing the look on his face, Sydni gestured to the car system to take them higher, they were still quite far from the city.Adam could see the massive size of the city, its perfect design, the gigantic tower in the middle surrounded by buildings that gets smaller the further it gets from the tower. The circular arrangement of buildings and streets with the tower as its c
11 years ago, Sydni had a husband and a son, her son was 3 years old when they went to an old land city for sight seeing, she was having an argument with her husband when her son wondered off. They didn't follow him as he had his robot companion with him. When the robot didn't bring him back, after 10 minutes they went to check on him.The robot companion was then found with a blazing hole in it, and her son was no where to be seen. They immediately requested help from the nearest tower, which sent a few hundred drones that flew with the speed of mach 5 and reached them in a matter of minutes, with the help of the drones and their car which had a scanning range of 5 kilometers, they found no traces of him. They lost their son in an age where losing the head on their shoulders would be way easier. The news of this accident went viral, the company that made the robot companion went bankrupt, people stopped trusting their children to their companions.Sydni cried for days, and her heart
Adam fell on the ground the moment these thoughts appeared in his head. 'Data over load!!' he was astonished. 'exactly how much data did you absorb to overload my brain!!?' he asked as he stood back up, checking the multiple screens in front of him.[unable to calculate exact quantity… Approximate quantity: 1 quintillion yottabyte.]The screens showed Adam's body to be absolutely normal In these two minutes, his brain activity on the other hand, was so high, higher than someone having an epileptic seizure. Adam didn't ponder on this matter for long, simply because he didn't understand much of it, he didn't even know there is a number with this much zeros. He opened a shopping window. 'do I need to buy anything other than these 4 nutrients packages?' he asked the symbiote, now trusting in it, if there is no way to separate them, and no way to tell them apart, then why worry. [items needed for future plans are:60 robotic system core, 10 kilogram G30-2 nanite cluster fabric, 1 Astro
… [storage capacity successfully upgraded.New communication system successfully implemented.]Twelve hours passed, Adam felt a mental fatigue like never before. He knew it would be hard, but he almost lost his mind, being unable to move for 12 hours while completely conscious made him feel like a prisoner in his own body. Time didn't seem to pass at all, the 12 hours felt like a few days. The first thing he did was ask the system core about the guest, it informed him that she is asleep, Adam was disappointed, he hoped she would get bored and leave, doesn't seem to be happening though. After a long time not moving, Adam was eager to test his new body, the moment he stood up, a very odd thing happened to him, something in the corner of his vision made him flinch. "what is this!!" he wondered looking at the circular black object shining with a dim yellow light, it reminded him of a certain terrifying night. [the new visual system derived from virtual games, includes skills, abiliti
Adam was running at his maximum speed for 5 minutes, he didn't feel tired nor fatigued, but he used 7 energy points of the 13 he had when he finished the upgrade, he wondered if this is normal. 'is this the normal energy consumption while running?!' he asked. before getting the symbiote he would eat so little and digest the normal way, which had many waste. However, he never needed to eat this much, he is now burning energy so fast by just moving around. [energy consumption rate is natural, 7 energy points were used to run a distance of 5.8 kilometers in 5.12 minutes.]Adam looked at the information at the screens in front of him, he confirmed that what the symbiote said was quite accurate. The normal human would not be able to maintain a sprint for 5 minutes, and the trained athletes would not be able to run at 76 kph, unless modified of course. 'ok then, enough playing around.' He said as he headed back to his room. 'what about that fighting technique?! How am I going to learn i
"hey Sydni!" a muscular bald man in his late thirties stood a few steps away from Sydni, looking at her in deep sorrow, tears almost visible in his right eye, his left eye unaffected."Lan! You look so different!" a saddened surprise hit Sydni and made her almost look older, so many tears she held back for so long finally overwhelmed her, they escaped her eyes in flooding rush."it's Johnny now… are you okay?!" he said approaching her with a worried look, he didn't touch her, he just stood closer to her chair."I'm fine…" she didn't have Enough strength to stand and greet him. "actually I'm not." She stopped holding back.Since she started this vacation to help Adam, she had too much time to think about the past, what little words Adam said during this time reignited her grief. And now seeing the man who shared her grief looking like a totally different person, it made her feel that both of them were running away in different directions."what happened to you?!" she said among her sob
[starting dismantling process, 170 energy will be used during the dismantle.]Adam looked at the stats in the corner of his eye and he had 200 energy points, he now have twice the energy capacity, which is more convenient since he will be using so much energy for this plan. Surprisingly the dismantle process wasn't painful at all, it was actually relieving. The symbiote wasn't forcefully boosting the digestion as usual, instead, it stopped the enzyme production completely, replacing it with a viscous substance that absorbed the cores one by one. Adam looking at this process, couldn't help but ask. 'what is this stuff?!' he was watching the process through the thought projection in real time. [a part of the symbiotic state.]It didn't seem to have the words to describe it, even though the symbiote had nearly the entire public data of the humanity's network, they didn't have information about what it is, it didn't even have words to describe it. So it transmitted the basic idea of wh
Adam found it easier to manipulate the fabric using the skill, as he only needed to think of what he want it to do, and the symbiote takes care of the technical stuff. He turned it into a historical car shape, and the symbiote made all the realistic details. It added two rubber wheels, glass windows, metal frames, it even added the engine and the working gears.Adam held the now realistic, 30 centimeters long, red ancient car in his hand, he opened the little doors and looked inside, it had a brown textured leather interior, a dashboard with all kinds of buttons and leverages, some screens with information on them, little compartments that Adam couldn't reach but opened them with his mind.He flipped the car and mentally removed a layer hiding the functional parts, and they were tiny but working, he checked the engine and found that full of details as well.He got excited and couldn't wait to try it out, if he could add all that details using one kilogram of the fabric, he imagined wh
The dense smooth ball fell to the ground, bypassing the gravity field that previously contained it. It plunged a few centimeters deep into the hard metal floor, a ton of force was concentrated in a small area, making it hard to contain it by regular matter. It was still sinking through the metal floor slowly, as it was being mercilessly pulled by the planet’s gravity.[Connection established. recalculating blueprints to adapt to the signal of the new nanite cluster fabric. More physical contact with the material is required for a faster result.]“Was it successful?!” Keet’s eyes were asking the question before he even moved his lips. He was startled by the sudden disengagement of the sphere from the gravity field. He kept his eyes and scanners on Adam to detect if he is in danger before any thing, and he was relieved for once to see Adam’s expressionless face unchanging. “Can you control it?.”“Yes! The signal is different from any other cluster fabric, my blueprints needs to be modif
“she just disappeared a year after you were born, and in her place there was a message, telling your father to provide them with a certain type of technology if he ever wants to see her again.” Keet said desperately, his voice struggling in a way.“People don’t just disappear!” Adam chuckled, he was hearing about his mother for the first time, and the first thing he hears about her is that she just disappeared. The first thing that came to his mind was that she might have abandoned him and his father. Or that she could be working with the Rinvar clan.“They don’t, but when you see this you may believe the opposite.” Keet created a screen and played a video of a woman singing a sweet lullaby for an infant wrapped in a sky blue blanket with twinkling stars all over it that seems to be moving about. The woman was sitting on a flowery wooden chair rocking back and forth. She appeared to be on some kind of a ship traveling in space, a foreign star constellations were visible from a window
“please continue!.” Adam said. Seeing the shocked expression on Keet’s face, Adam thought that the symbiote created something amazing, so he inwardly requested the details of those spiders. However they were just normal spider scouts, like the one Adam used to kill the man who attempted to kidnap Mela.Keet’s surprise wasn’t triggered by the blueprint itself, he counted 8 spiders rushing in all directions at the same time, and the 8 if them seemed semi-intelligent while moving all over the base exploring about. Even Keet wouldn’t be able to accomplish such a level of control without automating the constructs.Which means either the spiders were all automated and the young kid already knows how to automate drone actions, which would be scary at his age. Or he was directly controlling 8 individual actions while still focusing on their talking, which would be horrifying. The reason Keet didn’t consider the probability of an artificial intelligence, is that the spiders were mostly just to
Adam plunged into the ground raising a cloud of dust and creating a small crater around him as he landed like a super hero on one knee and a closed fist.[The modified armor blueprint features ionic thrusters with up to 8 tons of pushing force.]‘you telling me this now?!’ Adam shouted inwardly at himself, he had no idea that the symbiote modified the armor already. his cognitive abilities and thinking speed were on another level compared to yesterday, but still he was a human that easily got distracted by the feeling of freedom and liberation, and forgot all about the need to stop and land at some point. He also wanted to show off a little in front of Keet to pretend that he wasn’t in need of help or assistance, which resulted in a minor knee bruise and a sore knuckles.“That was a cool Landing. Was it painful?!.” Keet chuckled, commenting on his landing and making sure to save the footage of it in his memory for later use.“You noticed! Well! It just needs some practice.” Adam smile
“You should come with me to the main base first.” Keet said to Adam, pointing at the middle of the island. The main base wasn’t far from where they were, the whole island was 20 km across, it would take them less then a minute to reach there flying.“Okay you go first and set a beacon, I’ll test some old tech with this new unlimited energy.” Adam didn’t argue with him, but he was still going to do his tests. He turned his clothe into a skin tight jump suit with a helmet covering his face. Two long thin wings grew from his back, ending with a jet engine each.“Do you know how loud these things are?! If you break the sound barrier with them you could damage many equipment on the island. You should try something else.” Keet stopped Adam from firing up the engines. he hated this era of technology for its too little care for the planet’s well-being. Unlike the mock engines that Adam was planning to use, the real ancient jet engine used a dangerous fossil fuel, which didn’t just endanger th
Adam was sitting on a wooden table behind the house, eating his big breakfast while surrounded by trees, flowers, and whistling birds. The rich sunlight bathed him in its warmth and its wide spectrum of electromagnetic radiations. “Birdy didn’t wake up yet?! He sure doesn’t miss Gem.” He said stuffing his face with more food, He stopped focusing on chewing much, the food would disappear in a few seconds anyway. He was worried about Birdy, it was unnatural for the kid to sleep in.Birdy used to wake up earlier then every one, Adam would sometime Hear him laughing on the top bed, he thought at first that he was having some weird dream. When he asked him about it, Birdy Said that it was the only time of the day he would quietly enjoy reading his comics.“That boy is actually quite something! He trained for four hours straight after you went to sleep, not taking any rest until he passed out on the living room’s floor.” Keet informed Adam while aiming a barrage of scanners and detectors at
Adam opened his eyes on a massive head of a man with white hair, white groomed beard, and wide opened eyes staring at him with the kind of amusement one would look at a rare creature with.“Waaaah… what the f*ck old man! Stop doing that!” Adam jumped out from the soft bed, away from the massive head, only to realize that it was just Keet, and his head was normal size, it was just too close for comfort.“Rise and shine Kid! We have a long, long day to catch.” Keet said with a happy grin, he couldn’t just wait until Adam wakes up, he needed some explanation for the events of yesterday.“What long day? Go catch it yourself! Let me sleep I’m tired.” Adam had nothing to wake up early for. The symbiote calculated that his body would need 9 more days to resume his preparatory enhancement. he no longer had a dead line to find a plan to escape, he was already in a safe place. And he most certainly wouldn’t give up sleep to start training early after all that happened yesterday. He was simply t
Birdy was extremely exhausted, he felt that he was about to collapse, but he held on to his consciousness just to finish the third objective of the schedule that Adam created for him. He was disappointed in himself for not being able to continue to the fourth, compared to this schedule, the daily training routine he was used to in the orphanage was literally a breeze. He was oblivious to the fact that he finished a training routine made for an adult athlete, and that there was no fourth objective. the symbiote calculated that he would finish this much of this hell hard schedule, just based on Birdy’s personality, and his ignorance about how hard the training schedule is, and the fact that any human being who experienced weakness would be motivated to become stronger. What kept him going was the image of Keet’s hands wrapping around his whole body, the fear he felt at that moment, he felt too little, and too weak. the name of the protocol Adam created for him made him think that Adam w
4 hours ago, after Adam went to sleep, Birdy decided to test what he can do with the new blueprint that Adam created, but he was afraid to go outside the wooden house, because Keet might be out there, so he was going to settle with testing the small things. He patted the cute white dog, and then ordered it to turn to the full armor mode with his thoughts. The dog immediately seemed to be giving him a jump hug, only to turn into liquid and swallow Birdy’s entire body into the liquid, and then form the armor around his body, the process only took a split second, but it felt longer to Birdy who was in the middle of it.The armor felt lighter than before, and when he took a step forward, he didn’t feel any weight to it at all. in fact, he felt as if nothing could stop his leg from stepping forward. The amount of power behind the single step was enough to destroy anything in his path.He started to become wary of his movement, to not cause any damage to the house. And then he noticed that
