The evaluation room was a square-shaped room with white walls and a tinted screen that covered a large portion of one part of the wall. The room was empty except for the small objects that lay in the center of the room.
James suspected that they were kept there in case people with inoffensive systems had to demonstrate their powers."SUBJECT 40 STATE YOUR NAME!" The P.A. bellowed out to him and he grimaced softly, whoever was dishing out these orders was probably behind that screen.''Why will I have to state my name?'' James groaned with a roll of his eyeballs, ''you called me here by my name.""DON'T MAKE THIS ANY MORE DIFFICULT THAN IT HAS TO BE. STATE YOUR NAME." The voice came again, it sounded annoyed and James couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement at it."My name is James Jade." James drawled,"JAMES JADE, OPEN YOUR SYSTEM AND TELL US YOUR TITLE."'My title?' James thought. He quickly remembered that his system had blocked his title so he didn't know what it was."I'm sorry but I don't have a title," James replied and cocked his head to the side."WHAT DO YOU MEAN? EVERY SUBJECT HAS A TITLE, CHECK AGAIN."James narrowed his eyes at the degrading tag that the voice used. 'I'm a human... Not a subject.'"There's no point in telling me to check again. You know better than anyone that I'm staring at my system screen right now and I know what I'm saying, I don't have a title." James emphasized,[Ding!][Skill: Omniscience ][An external force is trying to invade user's system.][Invasion failed!] [User has a premium system. System is free from external influence.]'What's this? Are they trying to hack my system and confirm for themselves?' James was almost at the point of laughter, 'I wonder how they'll feel now knowing that their creation is beyond their control.'"UM... I THINK THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH YOUR SYSTEM." The voice now sounded uncertain, a massive change from its infallible tone earlier."I'm sure that there's nothing wrong with my system," James replied calmly,"YOU WOULDN'T KNOW. WHAT'S YOUR POWER?"James didn't trust these people. Even though they gave him this system gift, he knew that they wouldn't stop at anything to destroy whatever didn't go their way so he decided to show them only one of his powers. This would also be a good chance to test out his powers for the first time.[Skill: Telekinesis ]He lifted his hand and imagined the object on the table floating, surprisingly, as if it was magic, the object began to float in the air. James was excited! 'This is real!'"HMM... TELEKINESIS, INTERESTING. HOW POWERFUL IS IT?""Hmmm.." James hummed, "Well, just this." "OKAY... I THINK THAT'S ENOUGH FOR NOW. GO BACK AND JOIN YOUR MATES IN THE ASSEMBLY HALL.""Okay!" James turned with a sardonic smirk on his face and walked out of the room.****When James got back to the assembly room, he was surprised to see most of the men gathered around an elevated platform.'What the hell is happening here?' James thought as he observed the scene before him with attention. He realized that the men had gathered around and organized fighting duels.James could only think of two reasons why they would do that; One; to test their new skills and abilities and two; to establish the natural hierarchy of superiority amongst men. A pecking order. Two men were on the platform, one was a blonde-haired man who stood at around 6 feet and the other was a red-haired man who was kneeling on the floor with burns all over his body. The blonde-haired man was smiling maniacally at him while swirling little balls of flames on his hand. James wondered what could make a man as good-looking as that end up in prison that led him here."Ready to give up now?" The blonde asked while smiling,"Y..yes yes, I give up." The red-haired man said and slumped to the ground."I present to you, our champion, defending the title for the last three consecutive matches..." Another man with spiky black hair and large eyes rushed onto the stage and raised the blonde's hand. "Byron!!!"The men burst into hails and shouts as Byron climbed down the platform for two other men to start another fight.James wasn't interested in the two men that had taken the stage, what he was interested in was the power of the blonde man that had just stepped down. If he wasn't mistaken, that was exactly the skill he needed to acquire to complete his quest.[Skill: Omniscience ]'Show me Byron's status.' James looked at Byron intently and willed his system to show him Byron's status.Program: Think Like A God [Locked]Name: Byron TreeRace: HumanTitle: God of FlamesHP: 92/100MP: 65/100Level: 2He was about to activate his system when Byron walked up to them. He had a smile on his face that didn't reach his eyes. "Hey Raz, what's going on here?" He asked, placing his hand on the bulging arm of the man who was threatening James. "This pest is bothering us," Raz replied, "It's a lie! I'm not bothering them, I just want to have a handshake with you." James said, perfectly faking the act of a fanboy who just wants a handshake with his idol. "Is that so?" Byron asked while smiling suspiciously at him, "Yes." "Raz? You should've just allowed him to come." Byron said to Raz, Raz hung his head in shame. "I'm sorry boss, I just wanted to protect you in case he wanted to hurt you." "Haha." Byron laughed half-heartedly, "I appreciate the effort but a young man who looks as weak as this can't even touch a hair on my head." James raised his eyebrows in shock. 'Insulting me openly?... Well, that was expected, I look like crap but all that will end soon. Just let me acquire your p
It was Damon Gate. "His win was just a fluke. Any half-witted person will know that if this was a normal duel, this skinny freak wouldn't have stood a chance against Byron." "Look here man," the spiky-haired man said aggressively, "if you think that James' win was a fluke and you want to have a go at him, you can simply just challenge him to a duel and take his championship. It's as easy as that." Damon beamed widely at the offer and turned to James, "I challenge you to a duel." James narrowed his eyes at Damon and smirked wickedly. Here was his chance to get his revenge on him for embarrassing him earlier. "I accept your challenge." In the next five minutes, James and Damon were standing on the stage while the rest of the men watched them from below. Byron had finally regained consciousness and had gone to one corner of the room to sulk as he glared at James with hate in his eyes. He didn't want anything to do with his followers anymore because he had lost that almightiness i
James' eyebrows shot up in surprise, 'A new quest already? I didn't think I'd get the chance so soon.' James thought.'Now where's that map?' James thought as he willed his system to show him the map.In a second, a 3D detailed map of the God facility hovered before James. There were marks on it indicating paths where he should follow and paths where he should avoid. After going through the map and charting the shortest possible route that would take him out, he felt a little bit of confidence. He may actually be able to pull this out.James waited for two hours to pass, just so that the security personnel of the God facility would b
James yelled as he turned the walls around him into huge balls of flame and ice respectively. He increased them in a way that they would bring down the front gates and the control room where the instructions came from at the same time."What's he doing?" "That looks dangerous!""Can a subject really do that?"The soldiers could be heard talking with themselves from the comms."What do we do sir? This subject is looking dangerous!"No reply came from his superior and he would probably never hear any reply because James released his blasts and they razed the sniper towers, the gates, and the control room to the ground, destroying everyone and everything inside it.[Ding!]MP: 0/100Warning: MP has been completely depleted. 'Ohhh shit...' James groaned as bolts of pain ran through his body. ''Am I going to die here? Did this system give me a quest just to bring me out here and kill me?'Recovery skill had a cool down of 1 hour so there was nothing to save him now. He knew that he had to survive one way or the other or else his dream for revenge would end before it would even begin. He managed to pick himself up from the rubble just as the robot towered over him again."You.. heh..." James smirked and spoke even though he knew that General Bush would probably never hear him due to the noise of the snowstorm that raged around, "You're such a persistent asshole..."'Is this the end?' James asked himself as he saw the barrel of the laser rotating to fire at him again. There was no longer any energy left in him to run again and he could even see the reinforcements coming for him from the back of the robot. 'Shit.. no, this can't be it.'He looked up at General Bush who smiled wickedly at him and released the
[Reward has been granted. 20 points and a D class reward box has been granted to the user.]James had stopped under a dried-up tree in the blistering cold to check his stats. The cold didn't even seem to bother him because he was just smiling sheepishly as he looked at his system. If a random person had come around and met him there, the person would think he had gone crazy because it would look like he was just smiling at himself while staring into thin air.James read through the entire rewards of the quest and was about to begin to debate with himself whether they were worth it when his eyes went to the level-up bar."Level up times what??!" Rodney was the only one not retreating, he wanted to make sure that he got as many men as possible out of the range of the bear.He saw one of his men who was trying to run away and had gotten his leg entangled in a dried tree branch lying on the floor. He quickly ran to his side and was trying to free his leg from the branch when he heard his men calling out to him;"Commander!""Look out!""Huh?" Rodney retorted and looked up only to find himself face to face with the most terrifying sight of his life. While he was busy trying to rescue his subordinate, he lost focus of the bear for a brief moment, and that brief moment was enough for the bear to leap through the air for an attack. He looked up just in time to see the bear sailing through the air to descend on him."Shit..." He muttered, "I messed up..."****Jason walked silently through the dried-up forest that was completely covered in ice. It amused him how a snow-covered forest looked peaceful and serene compared to a forest in
The bear growled at James and continued circling him. It seemed it was hesitating to attack him because he was stronger than the rest, it was looking for a suitable opening to launch its attack."I see..." James nodded slowly. "You can't reply to me... Well, no matter what your reply is, I won't accept it, that's because nothing can justify what you did here."With that last statement, James jumped toward the bear and the bear used that opportunity to jump towards him too.James was naturally faster than the bear, so it had already lost before the fight even began. James sailed through the air like a rocket and punched the bear under its jaw.The punch was so hard that the sound of cracking bone filled the air and no one needed to be told that James had cracked the skull of a monster bear with just his fists. The impact of James' punch did not end at the skull, it also delivered intense trauma to the bear's brain as the force from the punch threw it into the sky.The hunters couldn't
