The moment Qing Yue entered the dimly lit club, rows of black-uniformed females greeted her at the door.
"Mistress, welcome."
"Your friends have already arrived. They are waiting in the room reserved for you." The manager stepped forth and politely gestured in a welcoming manner.
"Thank you, Manger Hua. You ladies go and do your things. No need to concern yourselves with me." With a slight nod, she walked past them and proceeded towards the private elevator.
The female manager and waitresses reflexively bowed as she passed them, backs bent straight with hands on their belly.
Once her steps left their sight, they straightened their posture and turned, sending off the young lady with awe-filled eyes and envious sighs.
"Sigh, our young mistress turned 18 only a week ago, but she already radiates the aura of a noble heiress."
"She is the only daughter of Chairman Li. I would be more surprised if she didn't give off a noble presence."
"That's true. In the entire New World Formation, there is no other lady with status as high and noble as Miss Li."
The dazed manager returned to her senses once Qing Yue entered the black elevator. Hearing the waitresses' conversation, she turned and gave them a stern look.
"Alright, enough with the chat. Get back to work." With a curt flick of her black skirt, she turned on her heels and headed to her cabin.
The Mistress had already left. There was no sense in standing around and wasting time.
Qing Yue exited the black elevator, white walls with familiar paintings entering her sight.
Yei Yi and the others liked to gather at the Ivy Club for any kind of celebration, and as the daughter of the Club owner, an entire hall was always reserved for her entertainment.
Due to her frequent visit to the club, the ancient ink paintings on the walls became as familiar to her as the paintings on the Li Mansion walls.
Qing Yue smiled and increased her pace.
Her soft boots thumped dully on the marble floor as the rhythmic sound raised her spirits and took the unpleasant incident off her mind.
The room they gathered was on the far end of the building, its steel door and golden knob gleaming under the radiance of the lights. A few seconds later, she stood before the cold metal.
"Here goes nothing!" Taking a deep breath, she steadied her heart and turned the knob.
"Veerm! Veerm! Yeah! Yeah!" The blaring music blasted in her face, exploding in her ears like a thunderous boom. Covering her ears, Qing Yue hurriedly backed out of the room.
"Oh, Heavens! What in the world is going on here?" Her head throbbed like the beating of her heart; fast, furious, and loud, causing her to feel dizzy. With pulsing temples and unsteady steps, Qing Yue drew back again, wanting to distance herself from the crushing noise.
"Qing Yue, you are finally here! Do you know how long we've been waiting for you?" Sighting her retreating figure, Yei Yi disengaged herself from the mindless group of friends and ran towards her.
"Hurry along! Everyone's been waiting!"
She grabbed the unsettled Qing Yue's arm and pulled her back into the booming room.
"Yei Yi, turn down the volume! You know I don't enjoy such loud music!" Qing Yue shouted over the deafening music.
"Yes, yes! Our princess's ears are too delicate for this sort of noise!" Shouting just as loudly, Yei Yi waved her hand in a downward motion towards a grey screen on the side. The wireless control of the room's settings were programed with her Bio Stats.
"Volume down..." A robotic voice resounded.
A second later, the music turned down, the volume barely above a silent hum. In the ensuing quiet, an enraged shout reverberated.
"Da**! Who the he*ll turned the music down? I was enjoying that!"
"I did, what about it, Jeong Kim?" Yei Yi snorted.
"Yi'er, tone down. There's no need to start an argument." Qing Yue, seeing Yei Yi cross her arms in a familiar roguish stance, good-naturedly intervened before the two began cursing at each other.
Upon hearing the delicate voice, the group of youths in the middle of the room froze and turned. Qing Yue's ethereal figure and outstanding features filled their vision and an instant later, an enthusiastic cheer and joyous holler filled the room.
"Qing Qing, what took you so long?"
The youths noisily left the center stage and gathered around her like fans around their favorite celebrity.
"Did you get here okay? Nothing happened, right?"
"We were waiting for you."
They spoke over each other, racing to be the first, competing for her attention. The girls held her hands in turns, inquiring about her drive to the club in worried tones.
While the males fervently watched her from a distance and glared at their clasped hands, itching to replace them.
Qing Yue internally sighed and forced a stiff smile on her face.
She didn't know most of the girls surrounding her, a few being Yei Yi's acquaintances rather than hers.
To put it plainly, she knew none of the girls.
In the entire room, Yei Yi was her only friend while the rest were either Yei Yi's friends or Yei Yi's friends' acquaintances.
But they crowded around her familiarly and, with great anxiety, asked about her safety because she was Li Qing Yue, Li Chen's only daughter.
"Everyone, calm down. I got a little held up in a tricky situation. Sorry for being late."
"It's fine, Qing Yue. We aren't blaming you. We were just a bit worried, that's all."
"Yeah, Qing Yue. You don't need to apologize. We were only worried. Come, let's have a sit."
The moment she heard the invitation, her body involuntarily tensed up. Qing Yue turned to Yei Yi and pleaded the latter with her eyes. She hoped the assertive girl would come up with an excuse to rescue her from the impending misery.
Because as much as she wanted to bond with the girls, their topic of conversation wasn't her cup of tea.
However, in the face of her pleading eyes, Yei Yi only smirked and waved her off with an entertained look that said enjoy your time.
With friendly smiles and bright eyes, they grabbed her arms and dragged her to the couch. Seeing her wretched smile, Yei Yi burst out laughing.
For all anyone knew, the moment the girls huddled around her, Qing Yue could've been a poor girl dragged for slaughter from her expression alone.
She looked that terrified.
Unfortunately, the group of fanatic girls seemed oblivious to her state as they clung to each of her arms.
"Qing Qing, did you think over about what I said last time? What do you think about going out with my brother this weekend? I guarantee you won't be disappointed." An overly dressed girl with a strong perfume and thick make-up excitedly grabbed her hand as she began.
"Qing Qing, forget about her brother. I bet he isn't even half as good in bed. You should try my cousin. He is both handsome and has what it takes to please a girl." Another with highlights in her hair grabbed her other hand and pulled her closer.
"How do you know your cousin is good in bed? Have you slept with him?" Perfumed girl skeptically asked.
"Mu Yei, there's no need to be jealous. Although my cousin is handsome, I already have a boyfriend. And truly? He is too good for me to think about anyone else!"
"Hmph! I wonder if he knows how many you slept with before meeting him."
"I slept with many. So what? Are you saying you're still a virgin?"
"Girls, girls. Please calm down. Let's not get too excited." Sensing the direction the conversation was heading, Qing Yue's eyes widened in fear and anxiously tried to stir the conversation elsewhere.
"Let's talk about the new sale launch. I heard YueTian's Group promotion sale will provide 30 percent discount to the first hundred customers. Is anyone interested in coming along?"
"What! YueTian is giving a 30 percent discount?"
"When is the launch? Qing Qing, those sorts of promotion events require invitation cards. Do you have one?"
"Yes, yes...I have one. I can take you along if you want." Having successfully changed the topic, Qing Yue breathed in relief and gently smiled.
As long as they didn't venture into sensitive topics, she was fine with anything.
"Qing Qing, you're great! This is why I love you so much!"
"Qing Qing, since you're taking us along, can we bring our boyfriends along? Heh...they will be doing most of the buying." The make-up girl sinisterly smiled.
"Qing Yue, will you bring us along as well?" The spectating girls standing behind the couch leaned over. And with gleaming eyes, they begged Qing Yue to take them along.
"Hmm...it will probably be difficult, but I'll see what I can do."
"Great! Thanks, Qing Qing! You're the best!" The girls squealed in excitement and drooped their arms around Qing Yue's neck.
Qing Yue involuntarily cringed as they embraced her from behind, her expression turning awkward from the excessive display of affection.
YueTian Group was the most popular brand of male and female wardrobe ranging from casual to formal wear, cosmetics, accessories, and many other things in the new generation.
They combined the refined taste of the ancient period with the exotic modern lifestyle to develop and craft their own unique individual brand of style in female and male fashion and leisure activities.
And the most noteworthy part about their products was how only a fixed quantity was produced every year for every sale season.
But this was exactly what made their brand popular. People yearned for what was great in quality and limited in quantity.
Because their products took the shift in seasons, taste and style of customers, and region of residence, etc., in consideration.
So their unrestrained enthusiasm was understandable, but that didn't mean Qing Yue was comfortable.
"Anyways, the boys are buying! Otherwise, why would we bother dating them and waste our time? Speaking of which, about my cousin..." The highlights face lit up as she returned to the conversation to the dreaded topic.
Qing Yue's face turned dark as she wondered why it was so difficult to get these girls' minds off that topic.
Why was it so difficult to have a normal conversation without talking about bedroom matters?
"Girls...about that..." Swallowing nervously, she raised her hands to interrupt, but before she could even finish her sentence, make-up and highlights spoke over her soft voice.
"Su Wen, enough with your cousin! My brother is a hundred times better than your questionable cousin. I doubt the relationship between you two is just that of platonic cousins..."
"You! You're making baseless accusations! Even if my relationship with my cousin is dubious, what is it to you? Why are you so bothered? Everyone knows that kissing and groping mean nothing. Even if I were to take someone to bed, no one would care. Are you jealous I'm introducing someone better to Qing Qing?"
"Nonsense! You clearly know that's not why. Last week, I saw you..."
The two girls, trying to outdo one another began to expose each other's dirty laundry in front of everyone.
Qing Yue's discomfort increased, her face turning stiff as their topic wandered into private territory. The girls, unaware of her paling complexion, began talking about how they spread their legs and embraced their lovers. How they grabbed the rod and allowed themselves to be pleasured.
Qing Yue blocked her ears, her hands trembling as she blankly stared at the white wall before her. Even after 18 years of living in this strange world, she still wasn't able to accustom herself to the people's frank and open-minded attitude towards bedroom affairs.
She still wasn't able to shed off the 19 years of reserved upbringing ingrained into her being from her first life.
What's more, she died on the night of her wedding day, so she never experienced the wedding night.
And being home-schooled didn't help her situation...
"Yue'er, you're here."
Right at this moment, as her shoulders shook in silent tremors, the muffled sound of a familiar voice entered her blocked ears, pulling her out of her trance.
Qing Yue blinked and lifted her head, her heart soaring as her gaze instantly collided with the gentle ones of the handsome young man.
"Brother Tang..."
Even to her own ears, Qing Yue's voice sounded breathless. She blushed. She couldn't help it. Tang Fang had that effect on her.As the only male she knew in this world, the gentle and refined aura he gave off made her feel comfortable and at ease. His polite manners, gentle demeanor, and reserved aura resembled that of the noble young masters she grew up with."Yue'er, are you not feeling well? Do you want me to help you to the medical cabin?" Tang Fang frowned upon seeing her huddled form and red face."May I?" He sat on a corner of the couch and tentatively placed his hand on her forehead, checking her temperature.Qing Yue cringed, his cool hand making her shiver.Looking around, she noticed the girls sitting beside her were absent, the couch empty on either side.Traitors.Sighting them on the dance stage, she couldn't help but feel resentment as her muscles tensed. How was she going to interact with Tang Fang
"Aunt Li, is Dad back?" Qing Yue walked into the open-island kitchen and withdrew a bottle of water from the fridge. She hadn't had anything to drink before leaving home, and she never drank at parties; who knew what they added in them. And after her sudden explosion of anger, she felt as parched as if she was a fish laid out to dry in the sun. Carrying the bottle in one hand, she set her purse on the kitchen counter and moved to the glass cabinets. "No, honey, your Dad isn't home yet. You guys returned early. Have you had dinner? What would you like to eat tonight?" Aunt Li followed her into the kitchen and held her hand, leading her back to the kitchen counter before returning to the cabinets. "Qing Qing, I told you many times not to enter the kitchen. It's beneath your status. But you never listen." She brought out a glass cup and walked to Qing Yue's side, and unscrewed the cap as she gently scolded. Qing Yue smiled. "Sorry
Back in her room, Qing Yue threw her purse and flapped on her bed. She was tired. Living in a world where everything was different, where everyone behaved differently, sapped her energy, leaving her tired and drained. She was confused. If the heavens wanted to give her a chance at life, why did they keep the memories of her previous life intact? Why did they send her to this strange world with the memories of her original world? Why...this world at all? As her violet eyes roamed over the luxurious room with its splendid decorations and purple lavender petals were strewn around, loneliness and desperation oozed off her slender frame in surging waves. "How long...? For how long will I continue to live in the illusions of this dream?" With a heavy heart and disoriented mind, Qing Yue fell into a deep slumber. * "Save us! Somebody save us!" "My baby! My baby is in the fire!" "Move! Mo
Hearing the timid call, the stoic-looking, middle-aged man turned and swept his cold eyes over her. Seeing her bowed head, for a split second, an imperceptible frown appeared on his cold face that mirrored his eyes. Then wordlessly, he turned and proceeded to the dining hall. "Come. It's dinner time." His voice was cold, devoid of all emotion. Qing Yue wiped her sweaty palms on her skirt, her heart beating rapidly in her chest as she took a deep breath and braced herself for another meal in tense silence. Then she gracefully descended the last steps and walked into the hall. The dining hall of the Li Mansion was huge. Diamond chandeliers hung from tall ceilings that stretched as high as the second floor, and mosaics of the era before the New World Formation adorned the glass walls. Bright, creamy moon rays streamed through the one-way grey glasses and illuminated the green vase with white-red lilies sitting on the only glass table in the cente
Her Dad's stepmother, the legal wife of Patriarch Li, schemed and plotted his mother's death with a group of thugs. Low-born and raised in dark alleys, the thugs had zero principles and no morals. As individuals with no bottom line, seeing a beautiful and graceful woman, awakened other thoughts in their vile minds. The thugs performed unmentionable deeds before fulfilling their mission and killing Li Chen's mother. In a twist of fate, the young Li Chen that was still grieving, overheard his stepmother gossiping with a group of friends on how she took care of his mother. Hearing the woman of his so-called father had a hand in his mother's death, Li Chen lost his fuse and raised a storm. Before the nation's media and under public view, he severed all ties with the Li Family and left the Li Ancestral Mansion with only the clothes on his back. Following that, the Great War descended. Using all his savings and the little connection
Li Chen froze. A strange emotion flickered in his eyes as he slowly lifted his head and looked at his daughter. "What did you call me?" He dazedly asked. "Huh?" Qing Yue blinked, her mind turning blank. What did she call him? Did she call him something strange? Her brows furrowed as she went over her words. She was certain she hadn't said anything wrong or weird other than...Ah...Dad? Her eyes widened and she gaped. She called him Dad... Was that what he meant by what she'd called him? Did he not like the address? She shivered and lowered her head again, not daring to lift her gaze lest she saw displeasure in her Dad's eyes. "Qing Yue, what did you call me?" Li Chen's voice turned colder, his violet pupils fixed on the mane of black as he waited with great patience. Qing Yue, sensing his burning gaze, felt her heart flutter like a baby bird. The little thing was close to exploding from the extrem
On the other side, on the east of LiLong Country, in Li Industrial City stood a mansion as large and wide as the Li Mansion in Long Capital City. The Long Mansion was similarly built out of bullet-proof, one-way glass. But where the Li Mansion was grey, the Long Mansion was black and was surrounded by black pillars that released flashes of security lights every few seconds. Armored guards in black suits and black shades patrolled the grounds, their actions robotic and professional as they screened every visitor. "Sire, please spread out your hands. We need to scan you before you can enter." One of the gate guards expressionlessly commanded. "Hey, I come to see Commander Long every weekend. Is it necessary to do this every time?" A balding man with a potbelly questioned dissatisfiedly as he spread out his arms. "Unfortunately, that's the procedure." The guard stepped up and snapped a pair of white-steel ScannerGets on his wrists and pow
Blood. Blood was everywhere. Red, sticky, warm, wet blood. A sea of blood. It was everywhere. She could not tell where it ended and where it began. All she knew was that nothing was ever going to be the same again. She could not think straight, her head was pounding as if a thousand nails were being hammered into her skull. Her chest felt like it was going to burst any moment, but tears would not fall. Breathing became an arduous task as she scrambled through the pool of blood in search of a familiar face. "Anyone there? Anyone!" she cried. But no answer came. "Dad! Aunt Li! Yei Yi!" She screamed, blood splashing onto her face. "Princess, get out of here…" Came from the dark hall. Qing Yue froze, stunned to hear a voice, and scurried towards the sound, hope the only force fueling her, moving her forward. Everything's okay. Everything will be fine. Nothing bad will happen. I am only overth
