"I almost killed your daughter in front of your own eyes in front of a cheering public yet you let that got. Spare me the nonsensical excuses Mr. Tyson. I may be eccentric but I am not a fool. Your hypothetical words have irritated me, so when you speak next tread carefully."
It would not be a lie to say that Bastian was unaccustomed to threatening someone. However he would not shirk away from it of need be. And right now it was one of those times. A few moments ago he looked quite the fool, stuffing his face like a pig on death's row. And even earlier he was like a war god, bathed in an incredible energy and aura. Now he was back to his serious face, making everyone on Tyson's side swallow their spit.
Tyson always believed that he was not an emotional man, to him this was a negotiation, nothing more nothing less, and as far as he was concerned there was no need to cave in, despite Bastian's seemingly frightening identity.
After calming himself, Tyson's train of thought changed somewhat as he started to truly realize the situation.
Regardless of who he is, he is in my house in my city. This negotiation is on my terms. I will not allow myself to go along with his rhythm.
Sula knew her brother better than anyone else. So long as it has a wisp of resembling a business, her brother would lose himself in his so called 'logic'. She knew this was far from caving in. Both she and Vermalaen knew what was at stake, but they also had a reason to be confident.
Our backing is not light either.
This thought was within the minds of all the Cole family members. They were intimidated by Bastian, but they were also confident in their backer. Not to mention that underneath their house was...
"Sir Tempest, it does not matter what you say. This is my house," Tyson crossed his arms across his chest." And in my house people follow my rules." Tyson put an emphasis on the word 'my' twice, much to the chagrin of those with Bastian. Especially V, she knew that Tyson was on a level that was far from being weak, but in this situation she felt as if she had no choice. She started to slowly move the qi in her body and decided to kill him on the spot. As long as he was dead she believed they had a chance of escaping. Although Lang and Ben were weak, they still had Kenshin on their side. If V was not able to tell that he was powerful she would be putting the Inkume name to shame.
When she was about to move Bastian placed his arm on her lap and squeezed it.
This...how did he know?
Bastian looked at her and winked. V's face did not change but she was still surprised. She knew Bastian well enough to know that he wouldn't be so confident unless he had a plan. He was very good at reading other people but he wasn't that much of a good liar. At least not this good if he was lying.
"Mr. Cole, you think I don't know about what you are hiding beneath your home?" Bastian leaned on the table and placed his chin on his hands.
"Why Sir Tempest, I have no idea what you mean." replied Tyson with a calm demeanor. Bastian applauded the man in his head for his composure. He did not even flinch when Bastian revealed one of his trump cards. Sula and Vermalaen were not as strong willed as Tyson but still didn't do a bad job. If it was a normal person they would have been convinced that they were indeed wrong. Unfortunately, the two young women were in front of Bastian Smith. Their facial façades might as well be transparent glass in front of his eyes. Gareth's expression was blank and so was the young lady. It was clear that they were not in on it.
"You must be wondering how I know, you must have done an impressive job keeping a tight lid on this Mr. Cole, yet the lid just wasn't tight enough. It's a shame really."
"Sir Tempest like I said I am not aware of what you are referring to." Tyson was still feigning ignorance. His face was as calm as a pond's surface, but his heart was in turmoil.
Impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible, impossible! How? Just how did he learn about this? I made sure even Gareth and my own daughter were not aware! Could it be that I have a spy?
"You must be thinking that you have a spy, which would be the logical conclusion one would come up with, and indeed you do, but that is not what we are here to discuss. If you do not accept my terms I'm afraid I will have to let the rest of the city learn of your endeavors."
"And how exactly will you do this?" This time it was Sula who spoke. Tyson shook his head as he wanted to keep feigning ignorance, but he, just like his sister, could not ignore the matter of a spy being so close to them. "You are in our house." The moment Sula spoke, she snapped her fingers and a group of elite knights surrounded the room with their swords drawn. "These men are but a speck compared to our true power, just how do you intend to leave this house alive after making such a grand exclamation?"
"Lady Sula, when I said I would reveal what you have hidden underground, you seem to have misunderstood me. What I was referring to was not through words. It was through action." Bastian stood up himself and snapped his fingers, yet nothing occurred.
"Hoh? And what action might that be?" said Sula with a look of disdain on her face.
Bastian put on a savage grin the moment he heard her speak. "Well, let's just say it's going to get a little windy in this room, or shall I say this entire compound?"
"Windy? Is that the best you can do?" Sula laughed as she looked down on Bastian in disdain. Bastian did not reply and simply smiled. The confidence in his eyes was something that could not escape Sula's eyes."You obviously have a plan... but whatever it is we will stop it, do not underestimate our-" Before Sula's could continue, she was interrupted by a panting servant who had barged into the room."Lady Sula! Master! I have something urgent to report!"Sula was clearly unhappy that she had been interrupted, and was about to reprimand the servant when Tyson's voice rang out: "Speak."Sula was displeased, but since her brother had interfered there was nothing she could do."Master, the winds outside... something strange is happening.""What? Be more specific!" demanded Sula."I am afraid I cannot describe it: it is best if you were to come and see this yourself!" The servant had a dire expression and was shaking all over. Beads of sw
Within Tyson's office, stood the entirety of the Cole family, that included: Tyson himself, Vermalaen, Sula, Elisha and Gareth. These were the most important personnel in the family. Normally, Tyson would not involve the young Elisha in such matters but he felt that it was time for her to grow up.There were two matters up for discussion. One was the debacle with Bastian and co, and the other was the matter of what they were hiding underneath the house. After revealing what was below the household to Gareth and Elisha, Tyson called for silence in order to get his thoughts straight. Due to previous events he felt that his meticulously planned future was in jeopardy. Gareth was a vassal so he had no authority to question his Master's decisions. Although he was a bit disappointed that he was not told about what was underground, he believed in his heart that Tyson always had a plan.Elisha was more concerned about Bastian himself. She cared little about what their f
It was finally the day for the final of the two star tournament of the Elite Gladiator League. Thousands appeared in the arena to see the battle between Yani City's finest warriors. It was a rare opportunity for both normal mortals and cultivators. More skilled cultivators could even use this as an opportunity to improve their own skills, so they watched these fights intently.Kenshin and Co were sitting comfortably in a VIP booth. Kenshin had already won the three star tournament, bringing the Shasha household quite a bit of money, allowing them to spend lavishly, not to mention that one of the participants in this final belonged to them.It must not be forgotten that these warriors or gladiators were still slaves at the end of the day and they had owners. The victory would not just belong to the warrior, but to his owners as well.Bastian was already sitting cross legged in the center of the arena, ready for battle. He was wearing pants and his upper body was
After a while, the tornado subsided. The crowd once again became silent because nothing had happened! Many had assumed that Bastian had initiated some attack, and was suppressing Maita within the dust storm, but the duo were still standing exactly where they were before. The only difference was their expressions. Especially Maita, his expression was downcast; the crowd had never seen him like this before.A never before seriousness appeared on his face as he gripped his spear tightly and got into a stance ready to attack. Bastian, although not as much as Maita, was serious, and took a stance with his body, jumping constantly on his toes.Everyone was curious as to what exactly had happened within the tornado, but no one knew...except for Kenshin.Bastian is insane! Does he not value his life? If he were to lose he would suffer a fate worse than death!Kenhsin's expression was almost always downcast, so no one really noticed his sour look. As the duo got i
Support techniques were generally the most looked down upon, do to their poor performance in one particular field. Yet what Bastian had just used did not seem like a support technique. No, to the majority it seemed as if he had fused a defense, movement and attack martial technique perfectly. But the true veterans knew that this was not so.Tyson still remained upright as he saw the ongoing battle. He knew that for a support technique to be this strong considering Bastian's low cultivation, it meant one thing. The technique itself was powerful!"Argh!"Maita groaned in agony as he pulled his body for the impression he had made in the wall one limb at a time. He was an earth attribute warrior so the impact to the wall had not done much to him. What was really hurt was his pride. To end up in such a sorry state, due to a measly support technique... unforgivable.Maita narrowed his eyes as killing intent billowed from his body like lava from a volcano
The Fusion Realm, a phrase so frightening it could cause kings to kneel in trepidation. It was said that a single Fusion Realm expert can topple a True Empire by himself, whether or not that is possible is unknown by most. What is known however is that it was more likely for one to fall in love with air than to see one in your lifetime. They were as rare as they were powerful. Yet, at that very moment, right after Maita had surrendered, four such experts in grey cloaks were hovering above Yani City, looking down upon it like the gods they considered themselves to be."To think we would be forced to take action on such an insignificant city! How absurd!""Hold your tongue Brother 2, this is a task handed to us from a Minister of the Immortal Court! We should feel honored that we were chosen.""Brother 2 is right, even if it is a job given by them, it is far too lacking for people such as us to do. Besides, any one of us can destroy this city with a wave of
Merely minutes ago, Yani city was surrounded in a cacophony of sounds, most celebrating the end of the elite gladiator league. Even though most of the citizens had not seen the league, news of the events that had occurred spread like wildfire. Now however the city was even louder, this time the sounds were those if panic or fear.Civilians were rushing back to their homes in an attempt to escape something they could not comprehend. A bestial roar had emanated throughout the city, affecting the whole city. The city turned from a state of celebration to a state of war within minutes. The beast horde was an event that occurred every ten or so years in Yani City. The exact time of the horde was unknown but the City was aware that certain signs would accompany the horde, with this roar being the first. Thus the city had a routine for entering a state of emergency.Anyone who was a teenager or older had experienced the roar before, but the one that had justhappened wa
"Let's start with what we know so far. Onismo, tell us what you know."Bhasera signalled to Onismo York, head of the York family, which just happened to be the family in charge of public security and Yani City's armed forces; making him the highest ranking soldier in the city.Contrary to what most might think, Onismo was a small and quiet man. He barely spoke and had the temperament of a sophisticated man. If he was seen on the streets wearing his robes, one might believe him to be a scholar, but he was not wearing his robes. Right now, like Bhasera, he was fully clad in armour, with bloodlust oozing out of his body. He was a man who lived for battle, thus today was quite exciting for him, but none of his excitement showed on his face, which was as expressive as a piece of plain paper.Onismo stood up and reported what he knew, "So far, our scouts have reported that a horde or daemons is gathering a dozen miles from the city, surrounding the entire city from all
