Chapter 12:

Meanwhile, Coco turned to Joseph and asked, “Are you satisfied with my performance?”

“Thank you,” Joseph replied, his attitude somewhat indifferent and cold. But deep down, he was silently grateful for Coco’s help.

“Ha ha ha ha, that girl earlier didn’t seem that dumb, did she?”

“Yeah, using Joseph as a bet against me? What does she think she’s doing? Doesn’t she understand the capabilities and character of the person beside her?”

“Exactly, but isn’t she also being deceived by Joseph? I wonder what he’s deceiving her about. Is he a professional, educated person, or a wealthy heir with an impressive background? It’s really laughable.”

“That’s right, ha ha ha ha.”

Anthony and Rebecca couldn’t stop mocking Joseph and Coco. Meanwhile, Charlotte walked silently beside them, feeling uncomfortable. Then she stopped and called Rebecca.

“Rebecca.”

Seeing that Charlotte didn’t join in the jesting, and her face appeared somewhat solemn, Rebecca sensed her boss’s emotions and didn’t continue the topic.

“Yes.”

“Help me find out who’s in charge of tonight’s business dinner.”

“Yes.”

After a few phone calls, Rebecca finally hung up and turned to Charlotte.

“According to the information I got, the one presiding over tonight’s business dinner is Coco Watts, the eldest granddaughter of the Watts family, who holds the key business resources in the conglomerate and is also one of the three largest board members.”

“Coco Watts...”

Charlotte murmured the name, absolutely unaware and completely unaware that the person standing in front of her earlier was Coco.

“Arrange a private meeting with Ms. Watts for me.”

Charlotte believed that when she met Coco, she would recognize her, and then the advantage of the Afea group would be much better.

...

Amidst the whirlwind of activities around her, Coco found herself immersed in the intricate details of organizing the venue for the upcoming business dinner. As she meticulously arranged seating and delegated tasks to subordinates to ensure Joseph’s comfort, her mind was busy with countless thoughts.

“Make sure the flowers and lighting are just right,” Coco instructed one of her assistants, her tone firm yet composed. “We want everything to be perfect for tonight.”

“Yes, Ms. Coco, I’ll take care of it right away,” the assistant replied before hurrying off to carry out Coco’s instructions. It was Coco who presided over tonight’s dinner, not Amile. This time, she was back in her homeland for taking over the Watts family’s power.

Once the assistant left, Coco sat down at her desk and began flipping through the neatly stored documents in the corner. It was the guest list for tonight’s dinner party.

And to her surprise, Coco saw a familiar name, her gaze lingering on the page, her fingers gripping tightly.

Charlotte.

“Well, well, this is interesting.”

Coco set aside the other files and began reading the documents about Charlotte and the Afea group.

Before marrying Joseph three years ago, Charlotte was just the president of a small company. However, with enormous capital investment and improper collaboration, she had become the leading company in Crepuscolo. Obviously, she had received help. Of course, Charlotte also had to be capable; otherwise, she wouldn’t have succeeded as she did now.

“Clearly... this isn’t normal,” Coco muttered, tapping her fingers on the desk.

“Joseph is behind this and secretly helping her, isn’t he?”

Coco raised an eyebrow.

A recurring theme in her mind was the undeniable connection between Joseph’s rapid rise to success and Charlotte’s achievements. Coco couldn’t help but wonder about Joseph’s role in Charlotte’s journey from a humble company president to the pinnacle of success in the Crepuscolo company.

With her intuition, the intuition of a woman who had never been wrong, Coco realized that with Joseph’s abilities and demeanor, he absolutely couldn’t be an ordinary man.

She was truly curious about his true identity. He certainly wasn’t just an ordinary homemaker, was he?

This... she would slowly find out.

But this was a great chance for Coco to gain Joseph’s approval.

Just then, a sudden knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

Coco called out, “What’s the matter?”

“The boss’s son from the Sprezzatura gang is downstairs and wants to see you, ma’am.”

“Tell him to leave. I’m busy.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“My dear guests, let’s enjoy this wonderful banquet together today!” The melodious voice of the beautiful Ms. Mc echoed from the platform.

The music, clinking glasses, trumpets and flutes, along with the fiery dances, intensified the atmosphere. The closer one got to the platform, the more one could feel the excitement and extravagance of this wine party.

With a glass of wine in hand, Joseph swirled it around, delicately savoring each sip. Standing alone in the shadows, he observed everything happening around him solemnly. He didn’t appreciate this excessive “festivity.”

“Oh my, look who’s sneaking around here!”

“That’s right, if you’re here to feast, hide in a corner. He seems quite professional at it!”

Joseph couldn’t help but recognize the familiar voice. The two mice he didn’t want to encounter met here. The newcomer was none other than Anthony, with his typical demeanor.

Facing Anthony’s mocking attitude, Joseph remained unresponsive. He calmly brought the glass to his lips and took a sip.

“You really have no shame, do you? People have already spoken to that extent, yet you’re still indifferent. From what I know, you have no relationship with the Watts, so what gives you the audacity to come here!” The secretary, relying on Anthony’s presence, didn’t hold back her harsh words.

Unaffected by the opponent’s sour attitude, Joseph didn’t bother to pay attention. Dogs barking at the master. It wasn’t the first time Joseph had encountered this.

“Hey, I’m talking to you! Are you mute?” The enraged secretary slammed the chair Joseph was sitting on. Joseph’s indifferent attitude, as if nothing happened, only made her more annoyed.

“Stand up and give up your seat!” she ordered Joseph as if giving a command. In her eyes, Joseph was just a poor wretch who had no right to appear at today’s gathering, let alone to occupy a seat with her.
