Sacrifice

We walked stealthily and I don't know why because I didn't hear or feel anything. My heart was pounding because if I could feel or hear something things wouldn't be so dire. I wouldn't have known if a beast suddenly snapped my head from my neck if I couldn't feel their presence.

After walking for a while, I finally heard a snort from behind the trees. Now I realized that in front of us, something was hiding behind the shady trees.

“Rex, check it out,” Rais Musi said to me.

I widened my eyes. I can't believe that Rais Musi would order me to do that. He did it on purpose, I'm pretty sure now. Experienced Totem Warrior would not order a kid like Rex to come forward and examine a beast that had yet to make out.
