The Burning Cottage

The footsteps outside changed and now sounded like the whirring of a giant insect approaching quickly, creating an echoing boom within the small cottage. The vibrations of the approaching steps made me realize that when this decision had such a big impact, I had to remain calm. I caught a tremor in my hand, a sign of tension taking hold.

I opened the door of the hut carefully, letting Nola in. Along with lightning speed, the black shadow intruded. Strong reflexes taking over, I pushed open the door and secured the latch again. The door is locked tightly.

In front of me, Nola stood with red eyes burning like embers of anger, and the darkness radiating from her aura showed that she was far removed from her true self.

"I've finally found you! It's no longer just a dream,” she said, her voice wavering between raging emotions.
