Chapter 20

"They're attacking our flanks?" Lucas asked Alpha for confirmation.

"Yes master Lucas, they are attacking from both sides but are covert about him and it seems that they are trying to catch the army off guard." Alpha said to him.

It has been 2 hours since the weather was taken control of by the enemy mage. It would continue to rain lightning which kept the two armies separated. Due to this no soldier from either side have tried to cross it which is the reason he is currently in his tent listening to the boy.

"Number's?" Lucas asked him seriously.

"350 on the left. 480 on the right." Alpha said immediately.

"Hmm, are the others ready to fight?" Lucas asked him.

"Yes, we are waiting for your command." Alpha said to him.

"Engage the ones on the left. I will take care of those coming from the right." Lucas said to him as he stood up.

"Yes my lord." Alpha said to him before going away stealthily.

"It's a good thing that I taught them about espionage." Lucas said to himself as he exited the tent.

He then met with Aslaug and he told her to stay here. When she asked where he was going he said that he is taking a stroll not wanting to take the demigoddess with him considering how volatile she can be. She was still suspicious but he managed to persuade her by saying that he will fight her after the war.

Then he met with Olivia and he told her that he is going around the area for a walk and while she was skeptical about it she allowed it as the battlefield is inaccessible for their soldiers at the moment. Lucas then left the camp and made his way to the right flank of the army.

Then he ran forward from there and managed to see the army that is heading towards their flank. He saw that there were many soldiers and it seems that there is even a mage in it. But what caught his attention was the woman who is in the army.

'Oh, so a woman was able to become a part of the army huh. She must be quite strong.' Lucas thought to himself.

While he was in his musings the army is advancing to the right flank not aware of the danger that is waiting for them. Among the army, the woman, Kriemhild Rodlork is nervous as she didn't feel comfortable with this type of attack.

"What is it woman?" The soldier next to her asked her.

"I-I don't like using this kind of attack." Kriemhild said to him.

"Huh? What are you saying? Do you wish to actually fight on the battlefield? Did you not see that monster that was fighting there?" The soldier said incredulously.

"Yes but that is how we fight. Against eachother, not this underhanded tactic." Kriemhild said to him.

"Don't waste your time talking to her. A woman like her won't understand it. Besides, did you forget, she isn't even supposed to be here in the first place." A soldier beside them said to him.

This caused Kriemhild to glare at the man while the man snorted in amusement. She just looked down as she knew that they won't listen to what she tells them so she doesn't say anything. A female in the army is not something that is seen as a woman fighting in itself is something not heard of and even if they did it is seen as undesirable for a female. To the men, an ideal woman is someone who takes care of a man and works in his house for him.

But Kriemhild was not like that and was more of a fighting kind of woman so her personality didn't mix well with the other people in the society. She was alienated for her attempts at becoming a warrior and even though she has managed to get into the army she was still unrecognised by the people and seen as an undesirable woman. And she hated that fact, but she also knew that she couldn't do about it.

That was why her goal now is to make great accomplishments in the war and be recognised by the people so that they would know that she isn't any woman they can find anywhere but a warrior.

'Be that as it may, but the way he fought.' Kriemhild thought to herself as she remembered how Lucas fought in the war.

She had undoubtedly seen how he had fought and she was mesmerized by the strength and skill in which he carried himself in the war. Even though he had killed many of her own armies soldiers she couldn't help but look at his form and the finesse in which he carried himself.

She was mesmerized when she saw how he was fighting against them. There were little to no wasted movements and the strength he possessed was far greater than she had ever seen anyone wield in her life. The amount of skill he possessed in the way of the sword was something that she hadn't seen in anyone in her time in her nation.

Of course she also knew about warriors like Andvaranaut and Gustav, who were known for their skill in their respective weapons. She had wanted to see how she would fare against actually skilled warriors. Of course, she didn't account for the fact the prince would declare war.

But it seemed to be worth it for her since she managed to see a fine warrior like Lucas and if she remembered correctly he seemed to be fighting alongside females so it was a good thing for her.

'I wonder how I would fare against him. If only this war would end quickly then I would have been able to fight him.' Kriemhild thought to herself with a sigh.

She looked at her armor and sword as she walked. The army advanced for sometime before the ones in the front stopped suddenly. This caused confusion in the ones at the back and when they looked they eyes widened. Kriemhild is one of those as she was wide eyed as well.

In front of the army is Lucas standing in all his glory with his armor and sword ready as he looked at them. He had his sword planted in front of him as he placed his hands on the pommel as he stood with his legs parted a bit as he looked at them.

"Welcome lady and gentleman. So, what shall we do now?" Lucas said as he pulled the sword out and brandished it.

"Get ready!" The man at the front shouted as he readied his blade.

The other soldiers also got ready with their weapons. Kriemhild also got her weapon as she looked at him with sweat on her brows. She wasn't the only one as the other soldiers were also shaking when they saw him. Since many of the soldiers had seen him fight they were understandably afraid of him.

"Well then, let's dance." Lucas said with a smirk as he went into his stance.
