Chapter 1: The Glitch

It was a bright day, the sun was hanging high in the sky.

The same sunny day with extra brightness and heat, enough to make one feel uncomfortable with the unnecessary warmth.

On such a day, in the big villa, Alex was working on something on his big computer. He seemed serious as his brows were knitted together.

However, he was not working on the computer about any business but clearing some errors which were justified as glitches in the game that he was working on for the last two years.

Along with the identity of a university student, he was a game developer who had started to create his own game about two years to this date.

The first time he helped make a game with his seniors, it was a successful attempt since he had a sharp mind and extra intelligence.

Thus, he made a presentation to the high higher-ups permitting him to create his own game...

It was a difficult task. After all, being rich did not mean that he had everything platter in silver or gold. No matter how rich or bright he was, what mattered was how successful he could be without the help of his parents and their wealth.

He was working on solving the glitches as it had made his head a mess due to the hidden gem which could not be touched.

He was too focused on the program that he did not realise or look at the phone which was ringing for the past ten minutes.

Seeing the frequency of the phone call from a certain someone, it seemed to be an urgent matter. Alex, however, did not care at all.

He was already lost in the game world as he was trying to find the glitch which was hidden and couldn't be seen by even the developers. Thus, he was doing his best.

But it was not a joke, it was his responsibility that he needed to take over successfully.

The game was successfully launched two days ago. On the first day the game was launched, the ratings and reviews were great and nothing was wrong so far, people were enjoying the game and giving good ratings.

But on the second day, people started to criticize and scold the developers and creators of the game. Unexpectedly, the people were having problems playing the game...

And what was the glitch exactly?

The people were odd, saying that they were feeling the pain in the real world while playing the game... it was strange.

The higher-ups were already pressing Alex in the corner due to this glitch. They expected him to find the problem and solve it as soon as possible, and he only had five days to take care of the game and clear the game.

He was focused on solving the problem, but for some reason, the continuous distraction from the mobile was making him lose his mind...

" Ring.....".

It was thirty-one times the phone was ringing...he has enough.

One hand remained on the mouse while the other picked up the phone immediately. However, he did not the first answer or say anything but waited for the person to talk first.

" Alec, come back to the company immediately, something big has happened here....hurry up ".

The voice of the person was too rushed, it seemed like there was something important that had come up...thus, it was making Alec a little worried.

" Hey! can I come after some hours, I am busy finding the glitch ".

Alec was worried, but nothing was as important as him making the game smooth again, it was after all...his big concern at the moment.

" No! hurry back to the company, the higher-ups are in rage at the moment. If you don't come in thirty minutes, they are going to ban you from developing or creating any program and game ".

The voice was hurried, it was as if that matter was too serious.

" Fine, I will be there soon ".

With that ending phone call, Alec closed the computer and got out of the game place.

He soon got ready and left his room taking the phone.

Only after the launch of the virtual game, the problems arose on the second day. He was already stressed out because the ratings which were showing five stars and praise, soon turned into cursed and one star...it was a big hit for him.

He soon arrived at the company. But a big commotion could be heard even from afar. There was a big crowd gathered in front of the company and the guards were doing their best to not let anyone in despite the serious situation.

Alec got past the crowd and entered the company with this pass card, the guards did not stop and let him enter easily.

However, just like how crowded and noisy it was outside, the inside situation seemed to be the same.

Noises were coming from the CEO's room straight and many people were gathered around like bees.

Alex hurried up and tried to get past the crowd, the higher-ups were arguing with the company director and CEO.

" We need to ban this game, it has been wreaking havoc, and we need to close it ".

The higher-ups shouted...but no response could be seen from the other side.

Alec, however, was shocked. There was no doubt the higher-ups were talking about the Virtual Survival Instinct, it was the game that took two years to complete and had so much effort invested in it.

But now, the higher-ups were talking as if it was no more than garbage, just who gave the guts to say that?

" Listen....listen carefully, we can't just ban it, you know how much effort has been invested when creating this game ".

the director, however, was not ready to hear the higher-ups as he was aware of how much the team invested in making the game which broke all the chart records in just two days of launching it.

" If we don't ban the game soon, the public will go crazy, you should know what's happening because of this virtual simulation game in the country.

The higher-ups were right about this even though they were not experienced in playing the game.

There were hundreds of thousands of reviews on the game review section, many people were complaining that after playing the game, the people failed to come back to the real world and were stuck into the game seriously.

Even the doctors were confused and scared that a situation like this had not appeared before but now....because of one simple game, the world was in chaos.

Despite their numerous tries, the people who were playing the game before, couldn't come to reality and be stuck in the game somewhere, it was a serious matter and action had to be taken soon.

Alex came forward from the crowd after hearing everything. At first, he thought it was just a temporary problem as nothing would ever happen like this, but the situation had gone far.

" Boss! please...please give me some time, I am trying my best to find out the problem. And I need some time ".

Alex reacted after seeing the situation. He was, of course, the creator and the one who came up with the idea....so he needed to take responsibility as everyone was working under him.

Everyone's attention focused on him when they saw him come out.

" Mr. Alexander, do you understand the urgency, we have received tens of thousands of complaints in just twelve hours, how are we to stand if the problem isn't solved soon ".

The higher-ups were questioning him.

Hearing them, Alex's expression turned grim. He was in disbelief. The people who were asking for answers and questioning his ability were the ones who praise him and even propose....their ideas to enter into the virtual simulation game. However now, they were acting as if all the fault lies in his and his team's technique and ideas.

Alec was somehow getting angry but he tried his best to maintain his facial expressions as he was facing many people.

" Please give us 24 hours to look into it, if I am enabled to solve this problem in 24 hours, you are free to do whatever with the game. We don't say a single word even if you dispose of the game after twenty-four hours ".

He needed to buy time to look into the problem. It was unexpected that the people who gave them five days to solve the problem were rushing him and their plan ultimately seemed to ban the game permanently.

He, however, cannot let this happen.

Higher-ups were not convinced but they knew that their decision only would not result in anything until the CEO and director insist on running the game.

The director and CEO agree with him. They couldn't just depose it at their own will. After all, millions of dollars were invested while making the virtual simulation game.

" I need to meet my team ".

The higher-ups didn't agree to his request but the director and CEO did.

Alex hurried up to his office and found all his teammates working on the program, they all looked busy and exhausted. Of course, they were working on the glitch that had occurred in the game.

" Are you able to find something? ".

Alex entered the room as he asked, all the members were looking tired, it was as if they were working for hours and hours.

" Senior! we are incompetent.....the glitch...is hard to reveal ".

It was an upsetting matter.

Alex reached them and took his seat in the middle as he started observing how things were going.

" We only have 24 hours left. If we are enabled to solve the glitch....the game will be banned ".

It was hard for him to declare that but it was the truth.

Everyone's expression turned grim upon hearing of that news.

" 24 hours you say? but it's too little of a time. You know how well hidden the glitch is inside...we are enabled to spot it ".

Truth be told, even the most intelligent and smart team was enabled to spot the error inside the game. How were they going to do it then?

He agreed but that's not the time to feel lost. No matter the situation, they only had the time one day in their hands.

" Prepare yourself. I am going home....ready to hear my command ".

Alex had something going on in his mind. The team was confused but as he said, they were ready to heed any command of his.

In that situation, Alex took out the spare key from his pant pocket and passed it to the second in charge of his team...

" Remember, come to my house if you are not able to reach me after 24 hours ".

From his words, it was enough to sense that he was planning to do something unexpected.

The company had provided the limited edition set that first came out to every member of the team and Alex was included as well. He grabbed the virtual gaming set and headed off the house.

After an hour...

Taking a deep breath, he wore the virtual gaming headset and pressed the turn-on touchscreen button.

Once he turned on the button, his eyelids became heavy as he fell into eternal sleep...

" The host is entering the game...."

" The host is entering the game...".

A male voice rang in his head. even though his eyes were closed and he was asleep in real-time. But he was conscious and could see everything which was floating in front of his eyes.

" What's this? ". Alex thought to himself.

" The game is activated....please accept the conditions".

the voice was still ringing in his head as the window opened in front of his eyes. It was his first time logging into the game....and so, he never accepted the terms and conditions even though it was a virtual game.

Alex touched the button which stated Accept...

" Congratulations....the host is successful in entering ".
