If he did die, then at least Dean wanted someone to clearly tell him he was dead. But a few moments passed, since Dean closed his eyes until now he couldn't hear anything other than a gust of wind that continued to gently caress his face.
"What is this? 'die' is only like this, seriously?" His mind grumbled.
Tired of waiting, Deandra ventured to open his eyes. As expected, the dazzling light had disappeared somewhere. But strangely, the light disappeared along with everything that was originally around him.
The bookshelves that were originally flanking him disappeared, the tiled floor he had originally stepped on disappeared. Even so the tables, chairs, walls, roof and the man in front of him. All disappeared. All that was left was Deandra, and the book Oasis lying between his legs.
“So… Is this heaven, or hell?” Dean asked himself.
He glanced around, his gaze combing every place he could reach. Then Dean realized that this was neither heaven nor hell.
“Haha… what the hell?”
Dean didn't even know how to react when he realized that he was now at the top of a high-rise building.
How can he be here? What happened to the library and that man? He had many questions in his mind.
Deandra got up slowly, then picked up the Oase book which was originally lying. For a moment he was confused about what to do, and then Dean was distracted when his gaze caught a woman.
"Ghost?" he muttered.
No wonder Deandra thought so. Because the woman did have long black hair that fell and fluttered in the wind.
Slowly but surely Deandra lowered his gaze. Follow every curve of the woman's body to confirm his guess.
"Oh, human." he muttered again. Commenting on the two women's feet which turned out to be treading.
But a second later, Dean came back to his senses. Or rather surprised when he realized where the woman was treading. Both white and bare feet, standing right on the outskirts of the tall building they were in.
"Suicide! She's about to kill herself!" His mind screeched.
Dean froze in his place. The distance between him and the woman was probably only four to five meters. If he made a move now, then he could definitely stop that woman from going mad.
“Save? Should i? But why?"
Questions arose in his mind. It made Dean stand still for a longer time. Though the woman's body seemed to start to stagger.
"After all, I don't have the zest for life either. What right do I have to save him? Even if it's good if she's certain to die. I can… catch up with her.”
Something got into his head. A crazy thought that had been bothering Dean in his boring days. If it's damaged, then just destroy it all. It is a living motto that Dean has held since his release from prison.
"Yes, right. Just leave it. Let's be quiet, and watch."
The seconds felt so fast. When his mind finished making up his mind, Dean could see the woman slowly disappearing from sight as her body was hurled onto the other side of the floorless building.
However, every quick second turned out to be so precious. Dean was lucky, or maybe she was the lucky one. Because at the last second, the stupid Deandra had changed his decision.
"Don't!" he yell too late.
Dean gripped the woman's right hand which he could reach. Then with all his might he pulled the woman back up.
Again, it all happened so fast. Unfortunately Dean does not have enough strength to hold the woman in a position of hanging between life and death, while lecturing at length about the importance of life as happened in the drama.
That's why Dean decided to say all his lectures once he managed to pull the woman up. But something surprising happened again.
Right after one strong pull, the woman did come back up. More precisely, on top of Deandra's body when he fell backwards and the woman landed right on his chest.
“H hey, you still alive?”
Dean lowered his head slightly, to make sure he had really saved or was just a waste his time. For a moment there was no answer. The woman just stood still on top of him.
"Miss?" call him again. Dean who didn't know this woman's age just called out according to his estimation. Because this woman looks young from behind.
"Miss, I'm sorry but, You're heavy, so I'm a little hard to breath. So ...."
Dean was speechless. His eyes were perfectly rounded. Because suddenly the woman was crying loudly in his chest. Like a child whose candy was stolen, the woman even sobbed and wet Dean's clothes with tears.
Dean had a question in his mind. Who is this woman? How big of a problem did this woman go through to make the decision to end her life? But in this kind of situation, those questions are clearly very inappropriate.
“Cry, cry today, and come back alive tomorrow. Because that's all humans can do. I know this is hard for you, but I know you are strong.”
"Even though I don't know you." Dean's mind spoke at the end of his sentence.
As expected, his words succeeded in triggering the woman to cry even more. A sad scream filled Deandra's ears. He had never felt this before. Dean had never seen anyone cry like this.
Because in the past, when he went to prison no one cried for him. That's why even though this woman was crying in his chest, Dean could only feel empty.
It took some time for the woman to calm down and stop crying. During that time, Dean could only be silent and looked at the moon which was also looking at the two of them from above the sky.
He could hear the faint sound of a vehicle. The pain in his back when he hit the cement floor was real. Dean knew that this wasn't a dream much less an illusion, and that he wasn't dead yet.
"Hmm? Are you done already?"
Dean got to his feet when this woman finally got off of him. Now they are sitting opposite each other. The woman was busy wiping the tears from her face with her head down.
Meanwhile, Dean just stared at the woman's face which was not clearly visible because it was covered by a few strands of hair. Honestly, he didn't really care about the reason this woman was crying. He just wanted to ask, what exactly is this place?
"Are you feeling better?" Dean asked again.
The woman nodded slightly. Then slowly removed the long strands of hair from her face. Makes Dean able to see the woman's face clearly.
As expected, beautiful. Very beautiful. Just by looking at it Dean knew this woman was not from the common people. But there was nothing else on his mind other than acknowledging the beauty of this woman.
"Oh... you?!"
Unfortunately, Deandra's recognition of the woman's beauty was slightly disturbed. Just as the woman looked at him in surprise. Not even just surprised, Dean could see a hint of hate on the woman's face.
"Oh, You know me-"
Slap!
Sick! The slap was even more painful than when his back hit the cement floor earlier. Dean held his left cheek which was throbbing in pain. While giving the woman a surprised look.
"Miss! Why did you slap me? even though i helped you!" he protested.
But instead of responding, the woman got up hastily. Then went to take high heels that had been left in the corner of the building, then returned to him again.
“Why are you here too huh?! Crazy stalker! I'm really fed up with you! What do you want?!” the woman reprimand while pointing one of her red shoes at Dean's face.
"Huh? What stalkers? I just recently met you! Don't accuse me!" Dean refused, disapproving of the accusations directed at him.
"Don't pretend you are not! I know you. You are always been everywhere. Follow me wherever I go! What's your problem with me? What's your grudge huh?!”
Unable to bear all the accusations that were being directed at him, Dean got up and stood looking at the woman with an annoyed look.
"I should be the one asking, Ma'am, what's the problem? After all, if I have a grudge against you, there's no way I will save you! I would rather push you down!!”
"This girl is crazy!"
Dean grumbled in his mind too. Regrets the stupid decision he made by saving this woman he doesn't know.
But apparently, what Dean said slightly slapped the woman. In fact, the woman had been silent. Seemed to think about Dean's words.
"Just watch out if I see you around me again! Next time I will call the police!” the women snapped before walking away with a high heel in her right hand.
“Tch! Who else wants to meet you again? If one day I see you about to commit suicide, I'll push you down without think twice! I swear!" Dean screamed angrily.
But the woman still walked away and ignored him. Then disappeared from behind the only door in this place. Leaving Dean with a feeling of anger raging in his chest. In fact, he was so annoyed that he forgot to ask the woman an important question.
Several hours passed after that. Deandra stepped across the sidewalk like a tramp. Kicking innocent cans as an outlet for his frustration.
Sometimes he would turn his head, staring at a tall building not too far from where he stood. It was from the building that he had left, and Dean had just found out that it was a hospital.
The name of the hospital was foreign, the people, the streets, all very strange. Dean knew this wasn't where he lived. Then the question is, why was he thrown here?
"Tch! I should have asked her earlier." Dean grumbled, kicking the drink can so hard it bounced into the trash can in the corner.
It occurred to him that this was just a dream. Until Dean took the initiative to wait until he was awakened by an alarm or something. But waited a few hours, he still didn't wake up either.
"That's weird anyway. I remember going to the library early in the morning. But it's night here, and there’s no way i can sleep early. So, this is real? But why is the time difference so much?”
His mind kept wondering. But alas, no one could give him an answer. Desperated, Dean just walked aimlessly till now.
"... Dra!"
A faint sound was heard. But Dean ignored them. He just kept walking limply. After all, who could possibly recognize him in this place?
“... Dra! Hey!”
But over time, the voice became clearer and clearer. Dean paused, then strained his ears. Amidst the noise of passing vehicles, someone could be heard calling out to him.
"Deandra! Bro!”
"Here you are!"
Upon closer inspection, Dean realized that the voice calling his name didn't just come from one person. Moreover, the voice was familiar to him. But Dean still tried to deny. It can't be them. Until -
"Hey! dude?"
A tap on his shoulder made Dean turn around. Now his eyes are wide open. Because of the existence of two men in high school uniforms who looked worriedly at him.
"Ivan?"
Deandra was glued to the spot. These two men in front of him, there was no way he could forget. But the question is, how did they get here? Then slowly, things just got more complicated.
To be continued....
None of this is a joke. Even if it's a joke, then it doesn't feel funny at all. Deandra kept asking in his mind. Who made this terrible game, and why should he be stuck in it?"Ivan?" Dean spoke in a barely audible voice, a surprised look directed straight at the young man standing in front of him."Devan. This one’s Ivan." said the young man objected, then pointing to another young man right beside him."Are you drunk or what? Is it possible to identify one's your own friend wrong?" Ivan pouted as he folded his arms in front of his chest. For a moment, Dean was silent. He continued to stare at the faces of two young men around seventeen years old in front of him. There was no way he would forget them. Even though the past ten years have made it difficult to distinguish the names of the two non-identical twins.Ivan and Devan. Nothing
Dean took a deep breath of the water that was pouring out of one of his nose. Every now and then he would sob, while feeding vegetables into his own mouth. The sight had been seen since they occupied this dining table, and it was still an interesting spectacle even a few minutes later. Ivan is the one who enjoyed the most."Can people cry while eating?" Ivan whispered to his twin brother."Yes, that's the proof." Devan answered in a loud voice that made Ivan awkward.Deandra knew very well that he was being talked about. The confused looks of his parents across the table were evident, but he didn't care. It's a sweet dream that somehow goes on longer than usual. That was what Dean believed at least for now. He too had decided to enjoy it while it lasted."Where did you guys meet Dean?" Dad asked, moving the fried fish in the middle of the table onto his own plate.<
It's not wrong to be complacent. It had been ten years since Dean had last lunch together. The smell of sweat from the high school uniform, indeed mixed with the canteen mother's fried noodles, which was only topped with chicory. But that can't make anyone lose their appetite. Everyone likes to jostle just to buy unsatisfying food for one to five thousand rupiah."Dean want some meatballs? Here are the meatballs!”Dean raised an eyebrow because it was Ivan who suddenly put a meatball into his bowl, without even listening to his response first."Van, eat. If you give it all to Dean, when will you be full." Devan across the table squinted sharply.Responding to his brother's attitude, Ivan put on a sullen face. While Dean just chuckled, laughing at his two friends who didn't change. From the beginning, it was very difficult for Ivan to have lunch with them. On
Footsteps echoed as he passed through a long hallway. Sometimes, the handcuffs on his hands would make a faint clanking sound when they accidentally bumped into each other. A pair of iron shackles, is the price to be paid when he is given the opportunity to get out from behind bars. It didn't matter, because only an hour later he would come back in. The young man walked calmly with a guard who led faithfully. Soon he entered a room containing a table and two chairs, one of which was occupied by another young man. “You only have an hour to talk. Make the most of it, and remember that we are always watching over you.” After leaving a message, the warden left and locked the door from outside. It was true he was watching from behind the glass wall. His gaze was fixed on the two young men in the room. "It's been five years, you haven't changed, Devan." Unexpectedly, the inmat
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hospital hall. Splitting the crowd, the twins rushed towards the indicated space.Seeing a Devan in a hurry is a rare sight. But it certainly isn't any rarer than seeing a gold medal winner in the Interschool Swimming Olympics lying in hospital from drowning. Now almost all the children of the swimming club gathered just to see this rare event."Deandra! Where's Dean?! How is he?"Ivan shouted excitedly. His gaze swept around the infirmary which was filled with people. Then it stopped right at Deandra who was lying unconscious on the bed. On Dean's side, Amel sat faithfully waiting for his consciousness."Not aware yet." Said one of Deandra's club friends.Without responding, Ivan stepped past the few students and headed straight for the side of the bed. He patted Amel's shoulder to calm her down. Even though i
"Your condition has improved. So you don't have to stay overnight. But if you want to stay overnight it's also not a problem. At the very least, call your guardian first, okay?”A doctor smiled kindly. Successful young man with a stethoscope around his neck."Yes Doctor, thank you!"In response, Dean also carved the same smile. While busy re-buttoning his top which had been opened due to a brief inspection earlier."Since it's late, you should call your parents. Especially this little girl here." said the doctor, turning around. Precisely to the young girl standing by his side."Yes Doctor." Amel – the young girl, smiled and nodded. Before they could speak further, the three of them were turned around by a knock on the door. There a beautiful nurse was seen standing and looking at the doctor in their midst."Excuse me!&nbs
A car drove through the crowds of a fictional city called Jayaraya. Inside it, there was a man who busy driving while babbling, and a young man who had been ignoring him for a long time."Luckily, Ivan and Devan haven't been home yet. So we don't need to go around to bring your girl friends." Dirga laughed crisply at the end of his sentence. But as an answer, the young man who insisted on sitting on the back seat just looked out the window with an indifferent face. Deandra chose to remain silent no matter what his father said."You know? Your mother panicked when she heard from Ivan that you had drowned. When you get home, you explain to her, okay?”"Hm...." Dean moaned like a cow.As expected, after that nothing could be heard other than the sound of a car engine. They had been in the car for almost ten minutes, and the only words that came out of Dean's mouth were questions a
"Van! How many times do I have to say? Eat! If you're sick, I'll be in trouble too!"Lunch time, in the middle of the super hot day. 11 IPA 2 class was filled with loud noises that only came from two young men on one of the benches in the corner of the room. Not only because of their loud voices, but also because there was no one else in the class apart from the two of them. It's not strange, of course, because not many people will choose to stay in class during recess."No!" Ivan answered firmly. He shook his head vigorously avoiding the mouthful of fried rice that Devan thrust at him.A cross appeared on Devan's forehead. Dealing with Ivan's childish behavior was not his responsibility. After all, he's not a big brother. They were twins, and Ivan was born five minutes ahead of him.But somehow here he is the one who has to take care of Ivan's behavior. Well,
