After seeing off the two staff members that escorted him back to Kajima's house, Azi went to his room and began contemplating the recent events as he sat on his bed. When he kissed Shizu the night prior, he felt a warm unknown emotion in his heart. He wasn't sure if it was love due to his lack of knowledge and memory on the matter but could tell that he truly liked that emotion. Seeing as he liked that emotion, he deduced that it was likely an important emotion in his past and felt a bit worried that he could recall any similar memories. As he thought harder about the previous night, he was forced to embarrassingly remember that when they awoke Shizu had seen him suckling on her nipples. The memory made him blush wildly and made him question why he would do such a thing, especially while unconscious. He wondered if he had a unique interest in breasts but, wanting to not dig any deeper as he felt he might awaken a strange part of himself, he tried to take his mind off of it. Examini
-1 month later- Still the middle of winter of the Yamaton Calendar, it is Decem 2nd of the year 4831 AS (After Strife). Two guards of the village of Shisayama were standing at their post along the 3 feet tall stone walled perimeter of the village outskirts. These two guards were tasked by their leader to guard the western outer entrance with a squad of 6 people. The entrance had no gate and was just a dirt path that went between the opening in the stone wall. 4 of their group were not present at the post today as they had previously decided to work in pairs of two which allowed the other four the chance to go see their relatives and friends in the village. It also allowed them to get sufficient rest throughout their rotation of guards but left the gate somewhat understaffed. While this warranted worry, they found that since Yashimu’s investigation the number of monster attacks had lessened in the past couple weeks. So the 3 pairs thought they would be in the clear and would rotat
Opening the door to Kajima's living room, Azi saw that Shizu was sitting at the dining table writing letters and going through the stacks of paperwork that she had brought back from her office in the village. For the past two weeks, Shizu had been adapting to her new duties in Shisayama. On top of her work to do while in Shisayama and the work from Kujyuri added her workload which made Shizu's workload double. Noticing his arrival, Shizu turned her tired head up from the papers and greeted him with a somewhat dreary expression. "Welcome back Azi, how was your morning training? Did anything happen?" "Just ran into a small swarm of gengiri when I was passing one of the outer entrances. The guards and I took care of them, but I do have to fix a spear that I broke during the fight." Laying the broken spear he was carrying onto the dining table, he then sat at an open chair as he poured himself a drink of water from a jug that was set out for Shizu. The broken weapon got Shizu's atten
After getting their fill of each other's company, Shizu released her hold on Azi and they both got up from the couch. Shizu was the first to move away which prompted Azi to call out to her. "You can expect your weapon ready and with an improvement as well. I'll see you later tonight." Shizu, looking refreshed, responded with a smile and a curt nod. She went back to the dining table to continue her paperwork. In addition to attending to her increased workload, Shizu was also writing regular reports to Ozen about Azi. She made sure that Azi was never able to see the contents of her letters as she prefaced them as confidential information of the nation to deter him from ever looking. While she thought of Azi as a close friend and potential fiance, Shizu was not willing to share her and Ozen's shared agenda concerning his future. She did not want to jeopardize her duty to the nation of Kujyuri, which made her feel guilty for hiding the contents of the letters from Azi. She knew from t
Decem 4th of 4831 AS In the capital Kujyuri, Ozen sat upon his throne with his council off to the side and his son, Yashimu, standing behind and at his left side. Today, Ozen was robed in his imperial regalia which consisted of a green and white robe that had ornate patterns sewn into its seams and hems. The added details to his garments added to the majesty of his attire. The materials used were of high-quality linen and were smooth like silk but sturdy as leather. Finally, the green cape that Ozen wore had a large emblem of Kujyuri’s national symbol embossed on its back. The emblem symbolized the recent feat of the Ozen's past that impressed the emperor enough that he had given him his title of Great General and alias of Great Reclaimer. The emblem that signified Kujyuri was of three tools crossed together, one the left was a hoe, in the middle was a sword, and on the right was an axe. These were the common tools used by the citizens of Kujyuri who followed Ozen to reclaim large
After leaving the throne room, Yashimu hurried to find Rulu to ensure that she was ready for her trip to Shisayama. Rulu was the youngest daughter of their family and had a weak constitution during her childhood which left her bedridden for the most part of her life. Only in recent years had Rulu been able to move more freely out of her sick bed as her internal magic energy began to mature and allowed her to sustain a healthier body. It was common knowledge that all people in the world have internal magical energy, but it is less developed during childhood and matures when children reach their adolescence at about age 15. Unfortunately, some people on rare occasions lose their internal magical energy later in life. This affliction was what Rulu's mother suffered which caused her to develop an illness that eventually took her life. Ozen took the loss of his wife the hardest and changed the most from her passing. He used to have a laxed and outgoing demeanor, but in the years after
After a good hot bath, Azi came out of the bath in a change of sleep clothes and with a towel he used to dry his hair. Moving to the living room, he greeted Shizu and Kajima who sat around the dining table. It seemed that they were waiting for him as Shizu had a somewhat hungry look on her face as she stared at tonight's meal. Azi could not blame her as it seemed that they would be having a large amount of delicious meat for dinner as a large roast of what looked like beef was on the table. The animal that was butchered for this meat was a cow-like animal called a moosu which looked like a hairy brown yak with a pair of long blue horns. After a bit of nagging from Shizu, the three of them started filling their bellies full of the sweet and savory meat. After such a large and heavy meal, everyone felt ready for bed and that is what they did after cleaning up after themselves. Of course, Shizu joined Azi in his bed and the two had a short talk about their day. The first to talk was
After a few non alcoholic drinks and a bit of bantering to get the conversation going, Ben started to talk business as he noticed the new hammer on Azi’s toolbelt. "So how's that hammer holding up? Is the metal any good?" "So far I have no complaints, the durability and strength are similar to that of refined steel under certain conditions. After I examined it yesterday for any strains or cracks, I found no issues from the tests I performed the day before. Here. Take a look." Azi fished through his bag and took out a brown notebook. Before handing it to them with his hammer, he flipped to a specific page to show the notes he took down concerning his observations and experiments. Ben and Bail looked over the notes and their eyes began to widen as they were amazed by what they read. Bail then grabbed the hammer and began to give it an appraising look. "Is it true, can it really replace refined steel?" Asked Bail, his voice tinged with excitement. "Not completely, it makes for a c
