Chapter 126- The Call

The living room was somber, weighed down by the collective grief of the family. Mrs. Williams, her husband, and Jeremy try their best to console Avery.

Her face showed deep wrinkles from worrying, and her pale skin clearly showed how upset she was.

"Five days and still no word about Mia," Avery sobbed, turning to Jeremy with tear-filled eyes. "Can these kidnappers just call and tell us what they want?" she pleaded, her voice breaking with despair.

Avery's loud, sad sobs filled the room, and Mrs. Williams rushed to comfort her. "Please, dear, you need to pull yourself together," she urged, her voice thick with concern. "The last time I saw you in such a state was when you lost your parents."

But Avery's anguish only grew more. "I can't pull myself together," she wailed, her body convulsing with each sob. "Not without Mia. I don't even know if she's alive."
