Chapter 161- West Williams

Mr. Williams wore his shame like a cloak, suffocating in his guilt as he stood in the hospital parking lot, waiting for Avery. When she finally emerged, he rushed toward her, his words spilling forth in a torrent of remorse.

"Avery, I am so sorry," he pleaded, his eyes filled with anguish. "I can't begin to express how terrible I feel for what happened to you. Please forgive me for not protecting you better."

Avery stopped short, the weight of Mr. Williams' words hitting her like a physical blow. Her expression was one of shock and disbelief as if she couldn't quite believe the sincerity in his tone.

"Grandpa, you don't have to apologize," she said softly, her voice catching in her throat. "This wasn't your fault."

Mr. Williams shook his head, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "No, Avery, it was my fault. I should have known that your grandmother was dangerous, that she would do anything to hurt you."
