Ms. Selena’s lips curled with a smug smirk of satisfaction as her heart was merry with excitement after seeing the reaction on Camille’s face. It was the reaction that she had been waiting for.

She hurled insults towards Camille in her mind and she wished that she would take a picture of the moment she was witnessing - everything seemed so perfect.

Camille hunched over her phone, her tension palpable and her heart pounding in her chest as she scrolled through other blogs. It was the same headline or very similar - all of them insinuating the same thing that she got her position through an affair with Paul Leonard.

How disgusting! She wondered what Paul would think when he found out about it. He would likely blame her and probably strip her of her position, she thought. He wouldn't want such a scandal to linger on him for a long time.

Camille was curious to know what the comments were saying so she opened them.

[Not surprising at all. I always knew Camille from back then at Opuoq Medi

Camille was rendered speechless, her mind was a jumble of half-formed thoughts as she strained to find the words that had deserted her. She had been dealt a massive blow one that she didn't know how to overcome. There was nothing more to say. Even insisting on Ms. Selena leaving her office was too much of heavy words to come out of her mouth.“Well, I will give you some time to yourself,” Ms. Selena spoke, her eyes gleaming with mockery. “I am sure you will need it considering how messed up you are. Good luck finding a solution to your problem and this time even Paul can't save you.”Ms. Selena’s heels clicked loudly on the floor as she marched toward the exit, flinging the door closed with a satisfying bang to Camille’s uttermost dejection.****Jude Bournemouth of the Bournemouth Corporation had been thinking about how he was going to fulfill the assignment that he had been given by Mayor Thompson. I am just a little too passionate about making sure the person who sent my brother to prison is dealt with,” Morgan spoke, his defenses shattered under the onslaught of evidence that Jude brought to him.“Alright I get you,” Jude responded. “I told Paul about everything that Monarch Thompson demanded from him. I also informed him that his security card was with the monarch but can you believe that Paul didn't even entertain the idea of listening to the monarch.”“Is that so?”“I am telling you what I experienced brother. Paul said that under no condition would he bow for the Monarch. He didn't even satisfy any of the conditions that the monarch gave to him and instead, he sent me back to Monarch Thompson to warn him to release his security card,” Jude said.“I hate the kind of guts that Paul has,” Morgan admitted with his expression hardened with a tightening of annoyance. “I hate it so much that it irks me. Why didn't you insist on Paul though? Why would he tell y

“When Bournemouth Corporation still had good finances, you would never try to make sure that things were getting better. Instead, you would waste your life doing things that would destroy you. I remember how you were so fond of women that you would rather give them all your money than invest it in something profitable.”“But you are talking as if you are a saint when you are asking me to be an accomplice to a kidnap,” Morgan argued. “How can you check to condemn me when you are also not so pure.”Jude swallowed a bitter taste of rage as he instead opted to explain better. “Look, brother. Somethings we do things that are not so good because of the end goal. I learned that while I was in prison and I learned it the hard way. The only thing that separates bad from good is the end goal - the final objective. “In this case, you know what our final objective is. We are looking to ensure that we get funds from the mayor so that our company can recover from its liquidated state. That gives b

“Oh, she does have but she doesn't drive herself.”“Then how do you know that she does have a car.”“Come on Morgan. You are asking unnecessary questions,” Jude flared up before swallowing his frustration and answering the question. “I know because I disguised myself as a patient and got into the medical institute. I then stylishly got information from a janitor. You know, Janitors are probably the most knowledgeable in any organization even though they seem to be the lowest in rank. “Don't ever underestimate the powers that janitors possess. That is a little secret for you but as I have said before, you are asking the wrong questions. Just believe whatever I tell you.”Morgan’s nods were a gentle wave of validation and acknowledgment of Jude’s explanations.“So, as I was saying,” Jude continued. “You are going to be driving the taxi behind me while I will drive the one after you. We have to be close to each other to make sure this works very well and there can't be any mistakes that

Camille recognized the voice - it was Doctor White, the assistant director of the surgical unit at Dynasty Medical Institute.Doctor White walked hurriedly toward Camille, locking his gaze on her. “Erm, I was thinking perhaps if you don't mind taking a ride with me.”Camille’s lips pressed tightly with a flicker of contemplation. “Don't you worry Doc, I will just take a taxi,” she responded.“Yeah, of course you can but if you don't mind me insisting, it would be a great pleasure to have me drive you home or wherever you are going,” Doctor White pressed on, his words carefully conjured.Camille had a bleak smile escape her lips as she accepted the proposal. “Alright then,” she responded.Doctor White then gently guided her toward the car door in a gentlemanly manner, opening up the way for her to have her seat before getting in the driver’s seat.It was a well-polished black Rolls Royce car that gleamed like a gemstone. The seats were like thrones as they were high and comfortable. Ev

Morgan was more in a hurry than Jude to complete the assignment because he was tense and didn't want to get caught in another offense after already having a court case hanging on his neck. He wanted to get over with the kidnap as soon as possible.Morgan attached the cord of the device to his mouth to communicate with his brother. “Jude, What if Camille had left here before we came in? What if she didn't even come to work? What if—-”“Damnit Morgan! Just have some believe will you?” Morgan butted in, his expression hardened with a tightening of annoyance. “You are just screaming a lot of what-ifs. I already explained to you what is at stake here. All you have to do is to have a little more patience but you keep creating a negative atmosphere.”“Look, brother. I am just trying to weigh all our possible options,” Morgan responded, his tone slacked with sloppiness.“We don't have any options. We only have a goal and that is to get Camille this night and we will be here until she comes th

****Back at the Range Rover vehicle where Doctor White and Camille were, there was still an awkward silence between the both of them.Camille was more relaxed though. She knew that Doctor White was the one who liked her and not the other way around so the onus was on him to start a conversation if he was going to do so. Even if he started a conversation with her, she wasn't going to give him too much attention. She just wanted to get to her house, have a shower, and sleep with the false hope that all her problems would be magically solved by the time she woke up in the morning.Camille’s gaze was slightly tilted towards the glass window and she enjoyed the view of the outside but buried herself in thoughts. She couldn't help but think about what people were going to be thinking of her. How people already thought that she was a disgrace to the medical profession. How she was going to redeem herself from the scandal she had gotten herself into. That was the problem - the fact that sh

But all he got from the driver was that he pulled down his window frame of the cab and dropped his hand outside saying, “Sorry about the scratch mister!”Doctor White’s face was a map of queries and his eyebrows raised in surprise. Was he not going to come down from his vehicle and talk to him? Did he take it all as a joke that his vehicle was scratched? Did he take him as a comic character so that he would just ignore him and only give him a wave of the hand and a subtle apology? While Doctor White was still beaming with confusion, the cab driver drove off with a casual air of detachment, the cab slipping through the commotion like a ghost. That was the height of disregard, Doctor White thought. He could see the person driving the cab - it was a man who was probably in his mind 30s, with tinted hair and broad shoulders but he had no passengers. He felt that it was awkward not to have any passengers especially since the road was quite busy and people were waiting to take cabs. But th

His ropes were cut off a lightning speed as he was escorted out of the hall by a figure.Paul gasped in shock when he saw the figure that had come to protect him.“Dane Michaelson?!” Paul gasped in surprise. “Is this you? What are you doing?”Dane Michaelson was Paul’s long-term friend and high schoolmate who had always been like a guardian angel to him. He always protected Paul from bullies when he was in high school and even had a young age, Dane Michaelson had impressive fighting skills that he used to defeat anyone who came across him to defy him or any of his friends. Paul learned a few fighting skills from Dane but their friendship was put to a halt when Dane had to travel far away for a scholarship. He promised that he was going to be back though and that he would always keep an eye on him.“I told you that I would be back for you, didn't I?” Dane spoke in a hurried tone, his words coming o

This is not the time to speak of vain things,” Grandpa Leonard spoke sternly as if to tell Paul not to worry about him.The Red Witch erupted in a burst of laughter that echoed through the hall, her expression twisted into a malicious smile as she took pleasure in her evil deeds. Paul could hear their voices and it was mixed with laughter and merriment. The stench of alcohol filled the place and Paul was wondering if it was the same person that was tied to a chair that everyone was celebrating about. But there was something else that caught Paul’s interest. He kept hearing them call out a Red Witch. He had heard the word more than twice already since his eyes fluttered open and from the conversation that his ears were able to pick, it seemed as if the Red Witch wasn’t just an ordinary person. It could be one of their leaders, he thought. Or could it be the person that was assigned to kill him and render whatever punishment they had against him?Paul was suddenly shocked when he received a huge flow of water attacking him on his face. He spluttered and shuddered as his body shook violently, expelling the water from his lungs. His throat was constructed painfully as he tried to draw breath. He shook his face repeatedly so that the water could fall off his face a

Sarah couldn’t help but defend herself. She wasn’t just going to keep quiet and allow things to happen to her. She had to speak up and defend herself, she thought.“I brought the antidote that is now the reason why you are alive. I suffered a lot and risked a lot to get the antidote. I had an agreement with Janet, Frank, and Thomas but they haven’t told me anything,” Sarah stammered in panic, her words tumbling out rapidly as she tried to explain herself. “I don’t deserve this treatment and I don’t understand why you have to force me here as if I shouldn’t be one of the partakers of the good things of Winston Corporation. If you knew what I did to get the antidote for you, you probably wouldn’t be treating me this way. What else do I have to do to prove that I deserve my previous position back.”Janet retorted. “Liar! Liar! You cannot get your previous position back. You are a rotten piece of dirt!l Janet retorted.”Janet was always upset by the fact that Sarah was desperate to get h

Sarah’s voice was breaking because she wondered what she said that was wrong. “Y-e-s.”“What?!” Arianna fumed. “What exactly are you still doing at the inner chamber? You have already made the mistake of giving them the antidote but what business do you still have there?”“I just think that maybe they would—-” Sarah’s voice was breaking with tension.Arianna spoke over her in a loud frothing. “You think what exactly? What exactly do you think? Are you still delusional enough to think that Lady Winston would give you the requests that you asked for?”Arianna’s tone was insistent and her expression furious as she rendered a warning. “What exactly are you still there for when they have already shown you the writing on the wall? Oh my goodness!”“You had better start running away from there because if the history of your family’s wickedness is anything to go by, then it won’t be long until they arrest you and even do much worse to you than they wanted to do before. Do you think Lady Winst

Arianna’s voice was tinged with a hint of unease as she tried to communicate her fears. “Doctor Lopez? Wait, don’t tell me that you tried to get the antidote from him to help Lady Winston.”Sarah bit her lips again because she didn’t know how to answer the question. “That’s exactly what I did,” she finally spoke out.“My goodness!” Arianna spoke out loud, her voice ringing with a loud echo from the phone as she conveyed her disappointment. “I thought that Paul already gave you a new and improved job. What happened that would make you go back to the same mess that you were coming from.”“I just couldn’t find it comfortable there. I couldn’t stop thinking about Winston Corporation. I thought that I felt at home at Winston Corporation,” Sarah attempted to justify herself, her voice faltering because she realized the fault in her argument.“Can you even listen to yourself?” Arianna seethed, her voice rising with a cold anger and tinged with disappointment. “You are somehow trying to justi

“Do you really think that I will listen to her deceits? She has seen that Paul can do no good for her and now she wants to return to where she made a life. Oh, how foolish does she think we would be.”“In any case, I am glad that she came right into our hands because now she will get the punishment that she escaped narrowly before. Who would have thought that she would come right under our nose so easily for us to dismantle her.”Janet's cheek flushed with happiness as she smiled brightly, her eyes shining with excitement.Of course, neither she nor her brothers had the intention of fulfilling the pact that they had with Sarah. They were all trying to get the antidote and now that Lady Winston was back in a healthy condition, they could do away with Sarah. In fact, Frank and Thomas especially were expecting Lady Winston not to suspend the punishment that she had earlier placed on her.“Come to think of it. Where is she now? Where did she go? “ Lady Winston asked. They all turned the

She recalled that she had forgotten the gun that Arianna gave to her in Doctor Lopez’s office. That gun was the evidence that was going to stand against her if Doctor Lopez died. Her mind started reeling with desperate thoughts. What if she had committed murder all for nothing? Was she going to lose on both ends? How long was she going to keep foolishly trusting her family to back her up and then proving that they were always going to stab her in the back?An investigation was going to be carried out into what happened with Doctor Lopez, she reasoned. They were going to trace it to her and tell Paul about it. She couldn't imagine how disgusted Paul was going to feel to learn that she had betrayed him even much more intentionally this time. The inner chamber had high ceilings adorned with intricate carvings. The walls were lined with tapestries and brilliant decorations conveying a sense of power and prestige. Frank and Thomas led Lady Winston until she reclined on a sumptuous chair

Lady Winston soon spoke, her words drowned with fatigue and her speech slow and deliberate as she feigned an extra bit of tiredness. “Hello everyone. I appreciate that you have all come here to witness this moment. I appreciate all those whose prayers and thoughts have been with me.”“But as you can see, I am recovering from a very delicate condition that would require that I have a long rest so I will be accompanied by my family - Frank, Thomas, Estevan, and Janet who I am sure must have been working day and night to ensure that I am back to normalcy.”The employees all erupted in applause, their faces contorted with nervousness as they gradually returned to their duty posts.Sarah’s expression was glazed, her eyes unfocused and her mouth hanging slightly open as she stared blankly, her features slack with confusion. Her haze was disoriented as she stared back and forth, her expression clouded with confusion and uncertainty. The applause was like a torment to her because it was cons
