CHAPTER 63

"Now tell me, who do you work for?” Miriam asked.

Ms. Serfa bowed her head in silence, uttering no words to Miriam’s question.

“Now, you see, that is a very dangerous thing to do. I don't cope well with being ignored. When I ask you a question, I expect an immediate answer,” Miriam seethed.

Ms. Serfa raised her head, her face tinged with tiredness. “I work for you, have you forgotten soon? I am your employee and that of the Imperial Society —-”

Ms. Serfa could barely complete her statement when she heard a loud thud on her cheek. The slap sent her hair flinging out as she felt the pain deep in her cheekbones.

“Now, I will ask one more time. Who do you work for?” Miriam asked again, her eyes burning with hatred.

Ms. Serfa let out a low growl, her body still feeling the effect of the slap.

“And why are you so interested in knowing the people I work for, eh?” Ms. Serfa said admittedly but a hint of stubbornness still felt in her voice.
