47 – A CALL FROM PRISON

Ora pushed Jake’s wheelchair past Martins with childish glee written all over her face. Alex could not deny the burst of happiness that swelled in his chest as he got down on one knee and waited for the kids to come closer.

The moment they were within close range, Jake pitched forward and buried his face in Alex’s neck while Ora pressed her little body against his chest.

He wrapped both his arms around them and held them close, his guts tightening with a strange emotion.

“I missed you both so much.” He murmured softly.

“And I missed you, brother Alex,” Jake replied. “Where’ve you been? Why don’t you ever come home anymore?”

A pang of guilt shot through Alex’s chest. Meanwhile, Ora leaned back and flipped her blond hair out of her eyes. She had so much beautiful sass for a three year old.
